POLITICS Mark Ruffalo: "It’s beyond sad. It’s beyond disappointing; at this point, it’s disqualifying for anyone with ambitions for higher office as a Democrat, or a Republican, for that matter, to be fighting to keep billionaires from being taxed while kids don’t have health insurance...
and the cost of living goes sky-high.
These billionaires are also the ones hellbent on replacing entire workforces with the AI they are developing with our tax dollars (watch the “Musk” doc). We are also living through the largest wealth gap in modern history. At this point, the only way to balance out the economic forces that have bought our politicians and keep rigging the game against working people is through taxes.
Let’s hope Gavin gets some sense and walks this back. It’s crazy that this is what he chooses to spend his political capital, and part of his legacy, doing. He vetoed the bill that would have put a “kill switch” on AI for our protection. He vetoed a bill that would have gotten forever chemicals out of cookware. Time and time again, he goes with corporate interests over the well-being of the people, even after his own bipartisan legislature votes for something.
And here we go again.
Gavin, we aren’t looking for the Democratic version of Trump. That was a good goof. Please try something else. It’s tired.
The people need a champion, man. A real, bona fide champion who isn’t just tough in tweets or press conferences, but tough when it comes to the real imbalances people are struggling with every day: billionaires vs. people and the planet.

TRIGGER WARNING Ms. Rachel: "My heart is with the children, families and everyone who works at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. This is an unimaginable nightmare.
Grown ups argue about what to do to keep kids safe at school - stricter gun control or better mental health services - we need to stop arguing & do both - people say it might not work but what if it does? Why not try everything possible to keep our precious kids safe? We owe it to our children.
It’s our responsibility to keep kids safe. 💔 How can we just keep continuing to fail them?"

STAN / ANTI SHIELD Britney Spears Praises Her Pop 'God' Janet Jackson: "At 13 years old, if a Janet Jackson video came on the TV, my mouth dropped open. I kept repeating in my head, “No, No … Please come back, I wanna see that again … Where the hell did that come from ???”
It was her ability to be incredibly mysterious, so dark with a vibe that sucked you in immediately, and then this haunting simple angelic tone … The feeling she gives with her voice when she sings is so pure and genuine … She’s not trying to be sexy ... She just is … She can’t help it … She has always been god to me. She’s not just a singer, she is an entertainer in people’s eyes. Not only do adults feel her presence in such a spellbound way … She’s able to captivate the hearts of children as well !!! I was so young, and she spoke to my heart and soul like no one else … I have no idea why I’m writing this, but I do believe people like her are here for a reason … Just her smile alone changed the world forever ... She’s my girl crush this month …"

TRIGGER WARNING Julianne Moore: "Schools should be safe...We do not have to live like this. Our children should not be dying like this."
Four people were killed, including three children and one teacher, and two others were wounded in a mass shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. The children were 5, 8, and 11 years old. While details are still emerging, one thing remains clear: This country is failing its children.
Schools should be beacons of safety - not where kids and educators are forced to experience the terror of gun violence while trying to learn and work. This carnage is preventable, and yet we keep allowing it to happen.
We do not have to live like this. Our children should not be dying like this.

FILM-MOI (MOVIES/TV) ‘Palestine 36’ director, Annemarie Jacir talks about the responsibility of representing history and bringing 1930s Palestine to life on screen: "There's the poetic license of telling a story, but also having the responsibility to be true and authentic to what it is and where it's coming from."
It was definitely there. It's why we spent so long in preparation for the film. We did sort of a whole pass on the script with a linguist from Palestine because the dialogue, what people say, it's different than how people talk today.
And then there was the pass with the fine dialect that was correct, and then actors all working with dialect coaches. But all those details were important because there's been so much work done on the 30s in terms of academia, historians, and there's a lot of material out there. But I had never, ever seen Palestine in a fiction film in the 30s.
So we wanted all of it. We were all of us obsessed with everything, all the details in it, even the stuff that's off frame, that's not even on the screen were correct. And also, we're working in fiction and we're working today.
So there's freedom in reinterpreting things. There's the poetic license of telling a story, but also having the responsibility to be true and authentic to what it is and where it's coming from. And again, it's why I talk so much about the crew being Palestinian and how important that is, because those details matter.
