STAN / ANTI SHIELD Britney Spears Praises Her Pop 'God' Janet Jackson: "At 13 years old, if a Janet Jackson video came on the TV, my mouth dropped open. I kept repeating in my head, “No, No … Please come back, I wanna see that again … Where the hell did that come from ???”
It was her ability to be incredibly mysterious, so dark with a vibe that sucked you in immediately, and then this haunting simple angelic tone … The feeling she gives with her voice when she sings is so pure and genuine … She’s not trying to be sexy ... She just is … She can’t help it … She has always been god to me. She’s not just a singer, she is an entertainer in people’s eyes. Not only do adults feel her presence in such a spellbound way … She’s able to captivate the hearts of children as well !!! I was so young, and she spoke to my heart and soul like no one else … I have no idea why I’m writing this, but I do believe people like her are here for a reason … Just her smile alone changed the world forever ... She’s my girl crush this month …"

I always saw more of a Janet influence in Britney than Madonna. But of course the media pushed the "next Madonna" thing because they were both white and blonde.

ALL her dancing gave heavy Janet! Those belly rolls didn't come from Madonna 😤😤

The Madonna influence is clearly there too, but its second at best to Janet.

I've been saying this for years. People who say Britney was Madonna's successor didn't pay attention to her career at all. She has Janet written all over her artistic identity.

When I was 13, my dance company learned the choreography and performed “Rhythm Nation” for our annual recital, and when I practiced the routine, I watched the music video all day, every day. And of course, “All for You” is still in my rotation. Janet has been an idol of mine ever since, so I get it, Brit!! 🎵

Britney has always credited Janet as her dance inspiration and praised her as a singer and entertainer in general. Love to see it

I love this. Britney ofc has a lot of Madonna in her pop-girl DNA, but she's always felt like Janet's most direct descendant to me! (With Tinashe being Janet's youngest/the little sister who always looked up to Britney lol.)

So many look up to Janet. Even Aaliyah, Shanice, TLC, Destiny’s Child, Ciara, Tyla, etc.

Me too, Brit!
Janet’s hits and videos are unmatched through the late 80s and entire 90s.
Love will Never Do Without You, so 90s fashion classic and sexy
Escapade — a vacation in my heart from the first note
The If video and dance breakdown — a revelation.
These are just the first 3 that came to my mind. I could write an enthusiastic blurb about so many more!

Also if yall want to be even more mind blown: Janet’s choreographer was none other than Paula Abdul for most of her hits(I think Rhythm Nation was one of the only songs Paula did not choreograph) and was always featured in Janet’s music videos too!
