As a brazilian, this is just a small victory in our uphill war. Things are looking unbelievably grim here.

Same thing happened in Colombia. They just went back to have an authoritarian government again.

Yup… as a Colombian, I can confirm things are already getting very bad in Colombia.

The only silver lining in this situation is that we are fighting back in any way we can. Small victory, but a victory nonetheless

Fuck Mark Zuckerberg's weird-looking ass and right wing, boot-licking Meta!

I've lost count of how many times I've reported racism, misogyny, homophobia and transphobia, and even content clearly alluding to pedophilia that was NEVER taken down, because according to Meta, they didn't go against their guidelines. Yet I posted a story with photos I took during a recent protest in support of the current president and it was taken down in 20 minutes for going against platform guidelines and my account was blocked for 48 hours. No profanity, no nudity, no nothing. Just an enormous crowd with flags and signs.

Freedom of speech my ass.

Fuck the US for interfering, they're the reason Brazil ended up having a horrible military regime for 20 years where people who opposed were tortured, kidnapped and murdered. I am ready for the end of the US as a "super power"

This is cause for the annulment of the elections. Foreign interference.

Unfortunately, considering how fragile our democracy has been for the last 8 years, that would go about very badly, I think. Brazil is a powder keg right now

I was wondering if they might be delayed to address the interference...but sounds risky.

Meta used Instagram and it's algorithm to promote far right politicians and content and hide left wing politicians and content right before the election. Big Tech is actively interfering in the Brazilian elections to promote Trump's puppet.

Big tech - not just meta, mind you - has been hell bent on interfering with our elections. It's freaky to watch as an insider on brazilian politics.

I'm in Chile and before the first round, I looked up Lula's account on the IG search bar, and the only result I got was some fan account (?), literally the only one. Then I looked up Bolsonaro and the whole ass family and their official accounts showed up. And it even sounds silly and something so minor, but if it didn't have an effect that benefitted those companies, they wouldn't bother to mess with the algorithm. It's all so frustrating even when one watches as neighbors.

It's not silly at all, it's all these small inconveniences that make up the bigger picture. Because there's such a big divide, the election will now be decided by the votes that are changing sides. These small things matter that way. If you don't see the campaign, you don't know its points and you get shown most of the other side's stuff. It's that simple!

And as a fellow south american: beware. This is a project for ALL of us here, not just Brazil. Watch carefully and remember the patterns. This will happen again somewhere else

We absolutely need to break up/meaningfully regulate  these tech giants bc none of this is sustainable

It’s. The. Fucking. Algorithms.

No, they are actively deleting and hiding Lula's posts and accounts. It's fucking crazy. I went to report something from him and it was already deleted. It's a fucking joke

It's not. It's the search bars literally shadowbanning the ENTIRE left, the sudden unjustified banning of accounts with medium to big outreach and NONE of that happening to the far right accounts.
