TRIGGER WARNING Julianne Moore: "Schools should be safe...We do not have to live like this. Our children should not be dying like this."

Post image

Four people were killed, including three children and one teacher, and two others were wounded in a mass shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. The children were 5, 8, and 11 years old. While details are still emerging, one thing remains clear: This country is failing its children.

Schools should be beacons of safety - not where kids and educators are forced to experience the terror of gun violence while trying to learn and work. This carnage is preventable, and yet we keep allowing it to happen.

We do not have to live like this. Our children should not be dying like this.

You know your country’s society is violent and screwed up when there are people who will disagree with her

I knew this country was screwed when they made the parents at Sandy Hook the enemy.

Yeah, Alex Jones is a POS

Yup. I've said it before and I'll say it again -

I firmly believe that Sandy Hook was the nexus point in humanity where it revealed that something dark and evil was brewing in the United States. Had we done the right thing when that tragedy happened, we might be in a different place.

But nope, too many people listened to Alex Jones, one of the most foul, vile, rotten scumbags on planet earth and did what he told them. Because apparently guns were more important than people.

And here we are.

‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens

3

u/G-Unit11111 8h ago

Also only nation where too many people believe TV and radio propaganda over thinking for themselves.

7

u/blackfyreex 8h ago

It's not the only nation where propaganda is rife. Others just have better gun control.

Oh, how I wish that were true. So many countries are in a Murdoch Media chokehold, tearing each other apart while the billionaire class agenda punches down and trickles up.

The USA is just uniquely obsessed with guns.

They did everything they were supposed to. Locked doors, protocols in place and there was even a "good guy with a gun". Still 4 people died and two more were injured. It's the fucking guns.

Everyone should watch Thoughts & Prayers (2025). Doc about active shooter drill industry. Heartbreaking and well done

Of course there's a fucking industry. If they'll profit off terminal illness, they'll profit off mass murder.

She’s not wrong. My preschooler has been practicing live shooter drills at school since he was 2. It’s normal to him now to “hide from strangers” in the classroom. We are not angry enough that our children are dying as a result of gun violence.

God, that's fucked up. I'm in Ireland but my nieces and nephew are in the US. I still can't get my head around the idea of active shooter drills. It's insane that the US government outright refuses to do anything to prevent school shootings. It should not be normalised!

I cried the other day because my 6 year old came home telling me all about how fun their active shooter drill was because they all got to go in the dark closet together. It just feels unreal that this is the world we live in.

Has the President of our country issued an official statement on these children being murdered in elementary school? I'm not aware of one, but it's possible I've missed it. Or is he too busy 'interviewing' more blondes for the open Press Secretary position?

Oregon is a blue state, so if he does talk about it I'd put money down he mentions they didnt vote for him

10

u/coffee_n_pastries 9h ago

He has and it's obviously not great. Focus on the hero and not much about the victims.

When I heard a bystander went in and stopped it from getting worse than it already was I KNEW that this would be used by MAGA to bolster their longstanding argument that teachers should carry guns to stop school shootings. The pro-life brigade wants you to have children but doesn't want to make sacrifices so that you are able to keep them alive. When it comes right down to it, money will always be more important than humanity. As long as the NRA keeps the money flowing, the response will always be "guns don't kill people. People kill people. So, let's give you more guns to solve the problem of mass shootings".

America is so fucking bizarre. Rapist for President, and kids get shot going to school, yet the flag wearing ppl think they’re free.

Watched the new Carrie TV series. I didn't realise the shooter drills happened 😕 poor usa children 😢

They start in kindergarten (and maybe even earlier in some daycare centers and preschools). My child's kindergarten class wasn't told exactly what the drills were for, but they did practice hiding and being quiet when the teacher told them to. 💔

My heart hurts.

We do them in Canada as well. :(

u/aimsers 9h ago

How do parents in the USA send their children to school every day? I would be fucking terrified

8

u/Crystalline_Irises bisexual villain 8h ago

We are fucking terrified.

While I haven't asked around, I suspect this may be one reason so many Americans aren't having kids. I grew up in North Carolina and moved to the UK 10 years ago, but Columbine was absolutely a catalyst in me staying childfree.

2

u/janedoe1575 6h ago

it’s terrifying. i live in this town and we literally already had a mass shooting in a fucking grocery store a few years ago that also would have been way worse had someone (an employee with a knife) not stepped up and stopped the shooter while sacrificing their life in the process. another person was shot and killed before the employee took the shooter down. it all feels unreal at this point that it happened again 4 years later, and now we have 5 more people dead.

6

u/G-Unit11111 9h ago

Seriously, it's so fucking horrifying. We cannot keep living like this. Something has to change.

5

u/Naive-Inside-2904 i ain’t reading all that, free palestine 9h ago

There’s a scene in the first episode of the new show Carrie where they depict a school shooter drill that was absolutely horrifying. It scared me so much I haven’t watched the show further.

It’s disgraceful that this still happens in the US.

5

u/AfroPuffs90 who deemed this meeting of the minds necessary? 9h ago

The answer is just going to be more guns. Arm the security guard.

Or just throw your hands up and say it’s the price we pay for the “right to bear arms”. This country is sick.

Apparently the shooter's mother purchased the gun for the shooter. In my opinion, she should be prosecuted for aiding and abetting the murders. I also think the families of the victims need to sue her for damages. Start holding parents accountable when they purchase firearms for their minor children.

Schools used to be safe from gun violence and you won't believe this, but the second amendment was in effect.

Gun owners were just not as high on the NRAs propaganda as they are now.

u/IdleTrouts 8h ago

How many times are Americans going to post stuff like this? Nothing is going to change is the sad truth

1

u/titsmcgee8008 I cannot sanction your buffoonery 1h ago

I’m a teacher and I have to fight tears every time we have to practice shooter drills.

It is my most dreaded school day of the year.

How does a 16 year old get a hold of a gun?? How does this always happen in the U.S. and literally no other country?????? We need better gun restrictions and we need them now.

8

u/fawndoll3 9h ago

Our country does not care about children at all. My mother is a LCSW and left working with CPS for this very reason. My mother lost count of all the homes she walked into with loaded firearms sitting on the wall with ease of access to children. My mom had a case so bad that the amount of firearms sitting in the walkway was coded as a fire hazard, but don't worry the police thought it was endearing and not a big deal. It is no wonder that the state we lived in has some of the highest rates of gun violence in America while also having the least regulation on firearms. The police can just write it off and CPS can write it off as another parenting plan and not an urgent matter.

3

u/SnooDogs1340 this is going to ruin the tour 9h ago

The mom bought it for him I believe. And he targeted the school he went to. Hmm. It's the fucking guns. Great that there was a good guy with a gun. But there was also a bad guy with a gun who who was a 16 yr old.

We need better gun laws and money for mental health. But how can we have that if most politicians refuse to work on mental health packages or get blocked gun addendums, while the current administration is further removing Medicaid access and other programs.

Figures the gun nuts would salivate at the that the CCL user got to take out the shooter.

u/Ok_Assistance447 9h ago

Thank God someone shot the guy after he killed all those people. The core issue here really isn't the dead kids, it's that I'll never be able to live out my violent fantasy of being a good guy with a gun.

Edit: Look, and I agree with you that these "gun-free zones" don't do shit to stop gun violence. I agree that liberals are fucking awful at writing gun legislation. The solution is decidedly NOT more guns in schools though.
