Got tired of waiting for the ideal life to start, so I started making the life I have feel better

I used to spend a lot of time waiting. Waiting for Friday. Waiting for the next holiday. Waiting until I made more money so I could travel. I had this idea of what my life would eventually look like, and I treated everything before that as something to get through.

But there is always another thing to wait for. And I started to realize how much time I was spending wishing the current part of my life would hurry up and end.

I rented my apartment three months ago. I didn’t want to spend much on it because I worried I won’t stay here longer or I will eventually move somewhere. So these three months I just come a place more like a hotel instead of home.

But I started questioning that. I spend a lot of my time here. Why was I so willing to be uncomfortable now for a future home i don’t even know when I’ll have? Then I put some effort into making it. Rearranged things, decorated, and bought a few pieces of quality furniture that felt expensive to me but were still within my budget. And now I’m happy every time I walk through the door. To be a place here I feel more rested and have more energy to do things after work.

Not sure if anyone else feels the same, but I thought I’d share since it’s made adulting feel a bit easier for me. And here’s a little look at my apartment, including the sofa I’m pretty happy i bought.

Strange request???

Post image

Helloooo! I (30F) texted my neighbor (45/50F) - who I am acquaintances with, friendly but never had much conversation with for no particular reason - asking if she'd check in on our house because I had a feeling I might have left the oven on.

In high school, I watched our neighbors house burn to the ground Thanksgiving day. I've been TERRIFIED of that happening to me ever since. So, feeling like the oven was left on today had me all anxious but I was not close to home.

When I texted my neighbor, her response was ā€œthat's a strange request".... What??? Was my request actually weird or was her response odd? I was so taken back by that lol

I genuinely don't think it's such a strange thing to do, to ask your neighbor to make sure your home is okay.

PEOPLE IN THEIR 20’s ARE WE ALL BROKE?

Is it just me? Or is almost everyone in their 20’s having a hard time paying the bills and getting groceries? Last year my finances were solid. Now recently — I’ve had to use my credit card more times than I’d like to admit. I have about $300 in savings as well. Please tell me I’m not the only one??!!

Inflation in U.S. is 3.7% and rising, but the cost of living adjustment for 2027 was only 3.6%

I think the best part of being an adult is realizing you can just leave.

Don’t like a party? You can leave.
Someone’s being rude? You don’t have to sit there and entertain them.
Want to eat cereal at 11 PM while watching cartoons? Literally nobody can stop you.
As a kid, I thought adulthood would be about having money and doing exciting things.
Turns out, one of the greatest freedoms is being able to say ā€œnah, I’m goodā€ and go home.
Obviously responsibilities still exist, but those little moments of freedom are pretty underrated.
What’s your favorite tiny freedom of being an adult?

life is so bland

Life is so bland and empty. I am 41y F with 1-2 friends, good career and financially stable. But every other aspect of my life has been a failure. I am single, don't get invitation to events and always alone. I used to have so much hope for the future but these days (since I was 39), life has felt empty. Even things that used to excite me like investing and earning an income just does not excite me anymore as I ask myself what am I working so much for? Is this how life is for people as they grow old single without children? I am considering SMBC but worried about having an unhealthy child as I don't have the bandwidth to care for them. Does it get better?

Did you know- an estimated 50,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a cancer caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) every year. Nearly half of these (46%) are cervical cancer, almost all of which is caused by HPV.

My 10 year old coffee maker went into silence.

Goodbye to my 10-year-old coffee maker ā˜•šŸ’”

This morning, my trusty coffee maker finally gave up on me. The light indicator just faded into silence, and somehow, I found myself feeling genuinely sad — more than I expected for a machine.

I bought this coffee maker back in 2016 in Dagupan City, when I was assigned there for work with DSWD. It was one of those small purchases you don't think much about at the time — but looking back, it was there through so much. Early mornings before fieldwork, late nights after long days, quiet moments in between. Every cup it brewed carried a little piece of that chapter of my life.

Ten years. That's a long time for a coffee maker, and an even longer time for memories.

It's funny how objects become witnesses to our lives. It wasn't just a coffee maker — it was a companion through a season I'll always look back on with fondness. Dagupan, DSWD, the people, the places, the version of me that existed back then — all of it somehow tied to this little machine that finally went quiet this morning.

So here's to you, old friend. Thank you for ten years of warm mornings and quiet comfort. You served me well. šŸ«”ā˜•

Rest easy. You've earned it.

If being a good person doesn’t guarantee a good life, and being a bad person doesn’t guarantee consequences, what is the actual point of morality?

We grow up being told to be honest, kind, loyal, and respectful. But in real life, dishonest people sometimes become successful, selfish people find loving partners, and genuinely good people spend their lives struggling.
If morality doesn’t guarantee happiness, success, or justice, why should someone choose to be good when being selfish could benefit them more?
Is morality something we genuinely believe in, or is it something society teaches us because it makes people easier to control?
I’m genuinely interested in hearing different perspectives, especially from people whose real-life experiences have changed how they see morality.
