I'm in Alaska I haven't seen this yet although I don't drink milk so I haven't paid attention.

Damn that's crazy.

I heard everything is expensive in Alaska.. I would have believed it...

It is a high cost of living state but it also heavily depends on what area.

The main city is Anchorage and it's pricey but the further you go out it gets more expensive like gas in some areas was 18$ a gallon for diesel (I think it might have been regular gas)

I'm assuming the 18 dollar milk is north Alaska I have never seen that and I just got back from Walmart yesterday.

It's worth it to live up here.

You guys need to start milking polar bears.

u/Why_Sazs 1h ago

Why milk them when you can just suck it straight from the source.

People don't drink milk? I thought milk is necessary past of your human diet

3

u/Size---Queen 3h ago

Nah im a kefir guy it's fermented milk or has no lactose and goes down like liquid yogurt.

2

u/jayhawkah 1h ago

What does it come out like?

3

u/Size---Queen 1h ago

In between milk and thick yogurt it's hard to explain like it's liquid enough for you to drink it but it's thicker than milk.

Walmart sells it I recommend starting with a flavor one and see if you like it and it's really healthy for you.

Edit it's high protein one bottle is 50 grams of protein

No it so isn’t.

Well you can survive but it should be part of your diet if you wanna live happy and strong. I now understand some unhealthy people and their diet lol. They think milk is optional but for me, it absolutely isn't. This really surprises me tbh. I'm really tall. If you look at Dutch, the main reason they're tallest and so healthy is because they consume a lot of dairy products.

Shipping to Alaska is directly proportional to the price of diesel and jet fuel. Enjoy your Iran War dividends courtesy of our Orange Pestilence of a piss pot.

If you live in a place where goods are double as expensive as the rest of the country you have to disclose that in your post lol. Inflation sucks, but even before inflation your milk prices must have been insane

10

u/Grevious47 3h ago

That is more than double...milk at my local grocery is $6.49 a gallon. But yeah agree...they must live somewhere very very remote.

5

u/Gold_Telephone_7192 3h ago

Is that for a gallon of Horizon? It’s expensive as shit lol but that’s a good deal if so

u/Grevious47 3h ago edited 3h ago

No that is just plain ole 2% milk. If you want to go for some luxury brand thats on you then. Ill see if my local even carries that brand...hold on.

Ugh yeah okay...Horizon organic grass fed new age crystal power is $6.99 for a half gallon....fair enough.

In the US at least all "grass fed" means is cattle have access to a pasture....in mose cases, they are still fed grain in a feed lot. Guess that means I am grass fed too because I have access to my lawn.

I paid $2.99 for a gallon of whole milk at a gas station today. All of this send ridiculous.

2

u/yetanotherblonde 1h ago

It’s like $2.39 for a gallon at my local Aldi (South Carolina)

1.99 in north Florida

It's organic and being sold in Alaska.

u/jabber1990 3h ago

No, its just overpriced

7

u/Grevious47 3h ago

Do you live at the North Pole?

8

u/bizzybaker2 3h ago

Well, he responded to someone here that he is from Alaska

10

u/Grevious47 3h ago

Where in Alaska though. Parts of Alaska you may as well be at the North Pole. If the only way to stock milk in a grocery store is to fly it in on a prop plane then this starts to make sense.

And I see someone saying Alaska, but it wasn't OP...so are you sure?

I made it up

1

u/Grevious47 3h ago

I mean its not a bad guess but yeah this guy took your word on it apparently.

2

u/MacduffFifesNo1Thane 2h ago

North Pole, Alaska, ironically.

8

u/Fun-Times-13 3h ago

I has the word organic on it, Organic is it’s on inflation before Donald Trump took office

3

u/Initial_Rush10 3h ago

Was just about to say the same. I mean duh... organic is always more.

3

u/Different_Cherry8326 3h ago

Organic milk is 2-3x the cost of regular milk anywhere. I know because my wife insists on buying it.

Where I live (MCOL) that would be $9, and a gallon of regular milk is $3.50 or so. A couple of years ago, the organic milk was $6 and regular $2.

2

u/PeanutOrganic9174 3h ago

What store you going to?

3

u/FeelinDead 3h ago

We buy this brand and it’s $9.99 per gallon in our area and I thought that was high!

3

u/TGirl26 3h ago

I mean, you also need to consider the product itself.

Its, organic, diabetic friendly, and.... no artificial ingredients. Once you slap organic on it it's triple the cost, then you add fuel charges & the stores 20% mark up.

u/Wrld_PEAce96 3h ago

Now I understand why my parents wanted me to drink powder milk😂

1

u/r2k398 2h ago

Store brand is $3.67

1

u/manly1138 2h ago

They must think they can just slap an Organic label on it and people will pay outlandish prices.

1

u/foxfirek 1h ago

Well, yeah in Alaska they might, I mean not a lot of choices.

2

u/Nearby_Pattern_7998 1h ago

A gallon of whole milk in Alaska where I am is $4. Eggs are $3. This person is very much so in a more remote area. Not normal pricing at all.

Was at the grocery store with my 11 year old grandson, waiting in line to check out when I remembered We needed milk. I told him to go get a gallon of whole milk, no 2% whole milk only. He brings one, cashier starts scanning and I see where the milk is $14.99. I gave him a look like wtf, but I'm in a hurry, so just ran with it. Turns out it was organic, somewhat higher than regular whole milk, but this store is 20 miles from bigger cities where organic is much cheaper.

Organic is the only kind I drink now, regular whole milk tastes watered down compared to organic.

I didn’t realize the Pittsford Farms glass bottled milk I buy is only a 1/2 gallon. It’s $4.29 with a $2 bottle deposit. I can’t believe milk is $8/gallon where I am.

Wait. It takes $40 to fill up your car?!?!
