I can’t believe I’ve watched this show as many times as I have and never noticed that Robert California and his wife are wearing the exact same color scheme

Actors laughing in S6E12 "Secret Santa"

I've been rewatching the show for the 5th time and it's amazing how every time I catch more details like, for example, this scene when Kevin sits on Michael's lap and mostly everyone find it hard to hold their laughter.

Ellie Kemper is seen smiling a lot

BJ Novak is trying not to laugh

Mindy finds it difficult to hold it: she covers her mouth right when Michael is kicking Jim's old desk to get his leg back alive, then continues to smile trying not to break character

Ed Helms can't hold it and he hides behind the office's exit corridor wall and laughs like Muttley in Wacky Races, making Meredith also smile but trying to hold the laughter. Not even Rainn Wilson can't hold it after seeing Ed's reaction, I bet even Phyllis starts laughing behind Santa's beard. Moreover, looks like BJ Novak chuckles too.

Say what you want about Jan but she was really smart to not have a kid with Michael.

Who do you think is the best actor on The Office besides the obvious choice, Steve Carell?

I read a post saying that the acting in The Office is generally mediocre, and I don't entirely disagree. Still, I'm wondering who you think is the best actor besides Steve Carell, who obviously delivered one of the best (in my opinion, the best) comedy performances I've seen in a TV show.

I've seen similar threads before, but that was years ago. While I think we can all agree the show has phenomenal writing, even if we don't like everything, I'm curious about the acting.

I feel like the second-best actor in the regular cast is definitely Rainn Wilson. Not only did he nail Dwight's unhinged nature, but his vocal modulation, facial expressions, and dramatic moments were simply amazing. I was very surprised to find out he didn't win any awards for this performance. I've seen him in other roles as well, and I think he has quite a wide acting range, but his role as Dwight will always be my favourite.

I'd also give an honorable mention to Angela Kinsey, although I haven't seen her in any other productions. It's not necessarily that she plays Angela so differently from her own personality, because that's what acting is about, but she makes such a mean character believable in a way that still makes you feel things about her. I also feel like she sometimes gave Angela more depth than the writing itself, especially in her relationship with Dwight, through her subtle smiles and expressions.

Melora Hardin as Jan was amazing, especially in the dinner party episode. Generally, I think she was every bit as good as Carell. Her character wasn't quite as expressive, but she was still excellent at portraying a layered character.

John Krasinski was also a pretty strong actor, in my opinion. His fourth-wall breaks and line delivery were great. I know Andy isn't exactly likeable, although I love him as a character, and I think Ed Helms also gave a pretty good performance, considering how strongly people feel about him. I particularly appreciate his vocal talent. His version of "I Try" was better than the original, and I absolutely love the original song. However, I also think he portrayed Andy's anger issues really well. Even when the writing for his character became terrible later on, his acting was still good.

And finally, Zach Woods as Gabe. I think he has fantastic comedic talent and created a really memorable character.

Outside the main cast, Kathy Bates deserves a mention, of course. I didn't fully enjoy her character, but she's a phenomenal actress. James Spader as Robert California was also fantastic. I don't think many actors could pull off that role without making it too cringeworthy. Of course, Robert is still cringe, but Spader's line delivery, especially the Lizard King thing, impressed me.

I'm not saying the rest of the cast is bad, because I don't think any actor in this show was truly awful, and the whole cast had amazing chemistry. It's just that, with some of the characters I've mentioned, I felt like the actors really went deeper into their roles. With others, I was more aware that I was watching a performance rather than real people, and with these particular actors, I sometimes forgot where the actor ended and the character began.

What is an unpopular opinion that you have about the show that will make people react like this? I'll go first:

Although I didn't like his character that much, Charles Miner was completely right in his assessment or Jim from a managerial point of view. Like, spending massive amounts of company time planning pranks, slacking off, and wearing a tuxedo to work as a joke on his first day under a new boss.

Been watching the office on repeat for the past 4 years. How have I never noticed Hollys chair on the floor, taken apart in the room with all the candles!! The exact same spot where she did the yoda voice back to him and made him feel so seen :’)

Truly warmed my heart and made their engagement so much sweeter

Which of these couples do you think worked better?

Oscar and Ashton Kutcher Kevin seem like the obvious choice since they know each other so well and genuinely seem like friends. Yeah, Oscar was initially offended at someone thinking they were together, but Kevin flat out told him he’d be honored to be together. I think Oscar could have come around to Kevin’s loyalty, given time.

Andy was more than ready to be Oscar’s wingman, and the two clearly has fun together at the bar. At one point Andy even felt comfortable asking Oscar if he (Andy) was gay. What if Oscar had said yes? That could have been the beginning of a beautiful relationship!

And then we have Darryl. He may have been hesitant to the idea at first, but when push comes to shove he was ready to defend his and Oscar’s love from closed-minded bigots.

Not including Michael because we all know he was perfect with Holly.
