Absolutely insane idea
At least Carter is willing to admit how crazy her plans are too! (Am just about to start season 10 of SG1 for the first time!)

I can't be the only one who thinks Jack would 100% assign someone named Scott to be in charge of a transporter array just so he could say beam me up scotty.

To set the scenario the SGC has an encounter with the dominion and causes the dominion to send an attack force through the gate, but to make this interesting they have found a way to bypass the Iris on the gate, could SGC forces repel the Jem'hadar attack?

Now for some replicators... don't worry, they're only a toy...

This is super cool and thought I’d share with people who would appreciate seeing this

I'm watching this episode, and just thought about how weird it is he had this hallucination. The man is over 80 years old at this point, has only been on earth for a handful of years, yet when on the brink of death, he conjures up an entire fantasy life of being a fire fighter with the team! I can only imagine he loved watching some fire & rescue in between the star wars marathons, lol.
Alt idea, the entire fantasy was actually daniels doing?

So, my plan is to watch an episode every weekend. I started tonight by watching the first episode on Netflix, but my question is if that version is the original 1997 Showtime pilot? I think that it may be, since there was mucho nuditay. Very excited about stepping into this interstellar franchise/community where - so far - aliens like alot like us humans.

I've been thinking about it for a while now as it actually spawned a few questions. Around season 2 in 'Window of Opportunity' (4x6), we know there is a galactic black market as Malakai claimed to have traded quite a few of his rare artifacts for a Goa'uld shield generator. The Goa'uld is aware of it's existence and tolerates it as they use it's services to hire a bounty hunter in 'Deadman Switch' (3x7). And all kinds of deals go on in the background like Vala stealing the Prometheus in 'Prometheus Unbound' (8x12) to trade for quite a sum of naquadah and 'Family Ties' (10x18) that Jacek managed to con a deal with a trader. As shown in the episode 'The Ties that Bind' (9x4), the market spans quite a few worlds.
Why hasn't the SGC used the black market to acquire alien technology? Instead of trying to learn, steal, or discover it. They can simply buy it.
Since the galaxy doesn't have a universal currency, I'm assuming they use a bartering system or otherwise would naquadah and/or trinium be one of the few substances everyone would trade for?
Obviously quite a bit of stolen Goa'uld technology is on the market. But what about tech from other races? I can only imagine if one of those dealers happened to come across a ZPM and had no idea how valuable it was.
Since they have access to interstellar ships, would they actually move stargates and DHDs around if that service was wanted?
Since assassins are there, would they ever take a contract out on a Goa'uld system lord?

i watched Stargate universe when it came out and stopped watching after episode 4, now I'm rewatching, the writing got a bit better after episode 11, but it still isn't that good. currently on episode 15.
but something that is bothering me, why are there no DHDs with the stargates? who are they building the stargates for?
that really bothers me lorewise.
are we going to get any answers? i don't mind spoilers...

The other day I went back and watched Stargate. I always loved that film, very mysterious, badass soundtrack and set design. But I had never seen the television series (plural). A series of series I guess. Jumping from the film to the series back-to-back is a little jarring how they recast everybody, but 3 episodes in I think I am past that shock now. I am also a huge fan of Twin Peaks, so seeing Don Davis back as an Air Force guy was pretty surreal, I swear he must be wearing the same costume. The craziest thing to me though, going from the film straight into the show, is that everybody suddenly quit smoking all at once. It's just strange how many cigarettes there are in the film, and there's none in the show, at least so far. And smoking was like a part of the narrative, too. Jack gave Skaara a zippo lighter, and in SG-1 he tries to give it back. But what would Jack O'Neill even do with a lighter? He hasn't smoked once!

Dr Jackson in this ep got stuck in an alternate universe via a “quantum mirror” and at the end of the ep returned to his own. Philosophical thought. What if he never returned to his universe? What if he returned to one that was so much like his that he just thought he did? For all we know our universe failed against the G’oauld and died off like the rest of the System Lord invaded worlds.

As in other ex-Communist countries after the system ended in 1990, the sudden disappearance of the restrictions on the freedom of expression lead to all kinds of wacky theories about the origin of the nation appear in Hungary too. Hungary, because of its unique, somewhat isolated cultural position as a nation speaking a Uralic language while being surrounded by Indo-European speakers and hailing from the East as nomads, was uniquely primed for the craziest conspiracy theories:
There are two of these which sound very Stargate-like, both hail from the early to mid 90s if I remember correctly:
The first one goes like this:
10.000 years ago, Hungarians lived on a planet of the Sirius system as an advanced alien race. But Sirius started going supernova, so the Hungarians built a space ship and fled to the nearest habitable planet: Earth.
On Earth, they landed in the Fertile Crescent and taught the Sumerians how to farm, how to write, and how to build cities, thus, starting civilization.
Hungarians still have an extra twist in their DNA, hinting at their alien origin, and are the genetically fittest and most intelligent people on Earth.
So in this origin myth the Hungarians were basically the Ancients like Janus and Merlin who left Atlantis for Earth when they lost the war with the Wraith.
And the second one:
The Hungarian word for "Hungarian", "magyar" comes from "mag ura" (Guardian of the Seed), because before 10.000 years ago, during the Ice Age, Hungarians already had a technologically advanced civilization in the Carpathian Basin, and their task was safeguarding the seeds of various temperate-climate plants in underground seed vaults, so that when the Ice Age passes they can reseed Eurasia with these plants.
This one sounds like Atlantis in Antarctica and the Dakara device.

Near the end of season six's Sight Unseen there's a man with a phone who says "What? The second act was totally clear!" before being startled by an interdimensional bug.
Is this a reference to a previous episode? It feels like the kind of self-referential humour they'd use in Wormhole X-Treme or 200.

Just wrapped up my first watching of Atlantis and I just wanted to say that I absolutely loved the little details that show off the multinational nature of the Atlantis expedition, beyond the flag patches. As a Canadian, I instantly recognized the blue of our $5 bill, which had me DeCaprio pointing at the screen.
Took me probably the first season and a half to realize that McKay says Zed P M while everyone else says Zee P M, though in real life I haven't heard anyone say it "Zed" since high school.
Of course my very favourite was Carter commenting on the way McKay and his sister simultaneously said "Sorry". Not as subtle of a detail though, but one I found quite hilarious.
Did anyone else have any moments like that?
Anyways, that is all. On to SGU (though from what I have heard it's not as good as SG-1 or Atlantis.)
