AMA Ask Me Anything with Emily Deschanel & Carla Gallo – June 6th, 3–4 PM PST – Coming to You (Not) Live from the Jeffersonian
Hiiii Bones fans,
Emily and Carla here! We are sooo excited to do this AMA with all of you. Working on our podcast Boneheads has been such a fun excuse to revisit the show, and honestly... we’ve both become fans in a whole new way. Watching it back with fresh eyes and hearing from you has been the best part.
We wanted to take a little time to hang out and chat. So tomorrow, June 6th, from 3 to 4 PM PST we’ll be right here in this thread, live, doing our best to reply to your questions, fan theories, random thoughts... anything you’re curious about. FMKs welcome. So are weird murder memories.
We’ll be the ones typing slowly and laughing a lot. Bear with us as we answer. We’re not exactly tech pros (unfortunately, that’s more Bones and Daisy’s specialty than ours).
Can’t wait to talk to you soon!
XO,
Emily and Carla

I don't get it - the villain in S12 E1...??! Spoiler
I did not get it - some kind of Psych Facility Doctor which we did not know about in any of the previous seasons is the puppeteer who killed all those people and seriously targeted Brennan, even bought her old clothes? Why? no explanation whatsoever.. did he make Zack do that? why Zack had the scars like from trepanation surgery?

Review Storyline error?
On my umpteenth rewatch and up to S02E15, Bodies in the Book, and they dismissed
Oliver Laurier as a suspect because of vasovagal syncope when he fainted after Brennan hit him. But, in S01E01, the pilot, when Brennan shot Ken Thompson they got Oliver to put pressure on the bullet wound. Surely he would have fainted at that.

Discussion Favorite line delivery?
I think out of the entire show my favorite delivery has got to be from the kid in the opening of season 6 episode 23 with “What are they gonna do to me? IM THE BIRTHDAY BOY!” then screaming cause the body in the bowling pin setter. But made me wanna ask are there specific things that are just so funny that the line sticks out.

Discussion Was Angela never kidnapped? Spoiler
Idk if I'm mistaken but all the main were...except her? Hodgins had the Gravedigger thing. Of course BnB do. Cam was when she went for Arastoo. But Ange was never detained?
When I word it like that, the closest she gets is when she marries Hodgins in the prison cell.

I met Emily! Here's my experience!
I am so late to share this here but Bones has been my favourite show since I was a teenager. Living in Australia, I never thought I'd ever get the chance to meet any of the cast (maybe David if he does a comic con here). So when Manchester announced that Emily was doing comic con, my wonderful friends in England said they'd go to meet her for me.
So, I sent them the funds because that is least I could do! & then I got to work on this drawing! I do digital drawing and graphic design. This drawing took me 26 hours & 45 minutes over the span of three months & I was so excited to have her sign it!
Meeting Emily was an experience I won't forget! My friends had FaceTimed me during the M&G. At the time, we weren't sure if her security or manger would allow it. So my friend asked politely and I can not thank her team enough for allowing this! They originally said it was fine as long as I said a quick hello and that was it. That was more than fine with me! just getting getting the chance to say hello to Emily was exciting enough!
Anyway, it came to my friends turn in line & my friend introduced himself and then Emily's manger passed over my drawing (I had it printed). My friend explained that I was on FaceTimed and just wanted to say a quick hello. She said that was fine, I said hello & she was LOVELY! Then she say the drawing and my friend explained how I had drawn it & how long it had taken me.
Emily's first reaction was "She drew this?! No! She didn't draw this! Is she still there?"
My friend turned the camera so she could see me again & she was so beautiful and lovely!
"Nox this is beautiful!" she said as she was signing it. She kept saying how impressed she was with it which blew me away entirely tbh!
I had also asked my friend to take a little gift for her which she was so excited to receive. I'm not sure if many (if any) of you have seen this Temperance Brennan shirt before (second slide) but it's one of my original designs that I sell on my site.
Emily loved it! She was shocked that it was for her and when she noticed I was also wearing it, she said we're twins now!
Overall, meeting her (even over FaceTime) is one of the biggest highlights of my entire existence haha! I am so thankful to my friends who went out of their way to make this happen for me, to Emily's team for allowing a quick hello & to Emily for making that quick hello even more special!
This frame will go next to the shadow box frame I have of Bones props from the show!
From a fellow bone head to another, thank you for letting me share my experience with a group I know will understand how loved this memory is for me!

Discussion Help finding an episode!
I'm looking for the scene where we actually see Booth taking a kill shot while being an active sniper. I don't remember if it was the very start to an episode, or a random flashback. I just remember someone getting shot, then the camera cuts to Booth in his uniform and looking through his rifle scope.

Discussion In your opinion what is the worst episode?
I'm currently in season 6 and to me the wrost episode was the third episode of the sixth season. Temperance acts like an idiot the whole episode, I almost skipped to the next episode. Honestly was hard to watch in special the scene in the picture where they are in the club. Is there a worst episode?

Season 5
I have been watching this show now but i have a really hard time with the beginning of season 5. The whole dynamic between Bones and Booth feels weird. Does that change or is their relationship changed after this

I work at the Jeffersonian! 😜
So I work at the Natural History Museum of LA and these are my views when I walk to my car every evening. Both facades (different buildings) are featured as the Jeffersonian on the show.

USB Nipple was not on my Bones bingo card
First time watching, didn’t see that coming. Possibly a higher peak than the computer virus written into the bones

Brennan character change
I saw a few people talking about how brennans character changes a lot from the start and I didn’t think it had. I’ve just watched episode one this morning after finishing the last episode last night and wow it did! She was kind of flirty ?? She knew how to use things to her advantage, I can’t really describe the switch up but it’s actually very obvious!

Image And what do we say about clarity?
It’s a barbarity that clarity is a rarity!

Episode FIRST WATCH: S6 x E1 The Mastodon in the Room
I'd seen the first few episodes when I was younger but then the rest had been very "as and when" I was flicking through cable (so old). Doing my first full rewatch from the beginning as well as seeing much of this for the first time! So please no spoilers for anything beyond the episode mentioned.
This was quite the emotional episode!
First, maybe, the "bad":
- I love Cam so was sad that her seeming incompetence was the trigger to bring the group back. I would have preferred that they made it clearer that they'd gutted her resources and skilled team, and the interview segment at the beginning was maybe her being less confident in the limelight. Justice for Cam!
- Everyone rushing back at this one thing was probably a bit far-fetched but this is TV land so I will forgo it.
- I wish they'd rallied more of the squints together, although I do like Wendell!
- The weird subplot that the Dad kidnapped the child to get back at his wife and bought a new car?It just didn't really come together for me.
Really loved:
- Hodgins and Angelafinding out they're going to be parents.I totally bought the adoration, love and happiness bubble they acted in the cafe. LOVED IT. ALSO - Angela is always stunning but she looked extra stunning this episode. I know it's TV but their genes would make such a cute baby!
- When discussing who the linchpin of the group is and Bones says it's Caroline.I really love her character and think she's been such a great comedic relief as well as a great way to rally and focus the team together.
- Caroline backing away when Bones tried to hug was hilarious.
Sad (full spoiler for the victim):
- When you find out how the baby died and the pain the mum felt in having to hide the body. Really broke me.

Discussion intro music
i was wondering what everyone’s initial thoughts on the intro music theme is vs now? i’m rewatching bones for a second time and i always skip the intro now that’s its changed (season 7/8) as fast as possible because it simply does not hit as hard as the first intro (imo). i’ve never been much of a fan of the change however i don’t think the second one is inherently bad!

Discussion S6E11 “The Bullet in the Brain” Spoiler
Hey guys, its not much of a spoiler but i tagged it anyway just in case anyone who just discovered the show see this.
Anyway, I was rewatching s6e11, I feel like its weird that Sweets was acting like that, he’s a psychatrist for the love of God, i get he was traumatized by what happened so close to him, i really do, it’s not easy to see sthg like that happened in front of u and go on like nthg happened. But still, he kinda was proving her point by letting himself being affected by her words.
Also, I love that the usually happy Caroline was the one who made him go back to normal. She’s the real GOAT 🤍

Discussion Micheal Vincent Hodgins
don’t know if this had been asked here before but why does Micheal Vincent not have a nick name?
Every time Angela refers to him she uses his first and middle name even while talking to Hodgins. It’s so weird. How come he doesn’t have a nick name? My dog has like 15 nick names. 😅

Discussion What are the rules for Spoilers in this sub? Spoiler
EDIT: I didn't mean to trigger anyone, it was an earnest question :(
There are other subs I'm part of where spoilers are hidden or not mentioned in episode threads, so wanted to ask before i delved into any further episode threads for the earlier seasons.
I can see everyone feels that if you're a new fan you shouldn't join here until you've finished the series so thank you for sharing and I look forward to deep diving and returning once I'm done!
OG Message: Hello!
I first watched Bones many moons ago and it was only the first 3 seasons. I had then seen sporadic episodes every now and then, but for the most part, I don't know anything outside of Bones and Booth get together.I am now starting Season 6 and have seen a few spoilers in this reddit when it's just been a thread on an older season and episode review.
I fully appreciate this show aired ages ago, but the wonders of streaming mean a lot of us that never finished the journey or are new to the show can discover this for the first time! I was a bit sad that when reading a Season 4 episode review in this sub that someone commented about a character dying near the end of the series. It was a bit annoying as wasn't even relevant to the episode in discussion, but I know some people will fairly argue that for a show that finished in 2017 it's fair game.
What are people's thoughts about comments and spoilers that are early season episode reviews?
Thank you for listening to my ramble, I am truly loving the show and love that this subreddit is here for Boneheads alike!

Other Jeffersonian access card
Hi! Does anyone have a digital file of the access cards they use on the show?
I want to frame one for my bedroom but I could only find some on Etsy and dollars/shipping costs to my country are insane. Thanks!
