Video [🎥 Mike Jones] NFL’s Chief Medical Officer defends how the Eagles handled Jalen Hurts situation
Opinion The misinformation going around is just frustrating and exhausting
I know I shouldn’t let this type of stuff bother me but the fact that people will read something and blindly believe it to be true is quite infuriating. Not just specific to this whole Hurts blood clot situation btw, but also just in general. It’s sad how quickly misinformation can travel.
I just came across an Instagram post that is blowing up right now that has “THREATENED” above a pic of Hurts, with the second slide being a screenshot of a tweet that says:
”Sources reveal that Philadelphia threatened Jalen Hurts with disciplinary action if he refused to play in London amid concerns over blood clots in his calf.
With team doctors clearing him, Hurts was warned that refusing to play could constitute a breach of contract.”
Obviously this makes no sense whatsoever and of course would not have happened. It took me two seconds to go find the tweet myself and immediately noticed that this account has 6 followers, and zero likes and comments on any of their posts. It’s a clear burner account and of course this information cannot be found anywhere else on the internet... and yet, someone posted that on IG and now everyone is running with it. Thousands of likes and hundreds of comments that Hurts should sue and that the Eagles are the worst organization of all time.
Again, yea yea yea “no one likes us and we don’t care of whatever“. I know I shouldn’t let this frustrate me, but it just does lol. People will blindly believe anything they read.

This is completely unacceptable. No QB on our team is going to be able to succeed like this. The play that sums this up is the amount of times Hurts and McKee have attempted a play action pass. Only to turn straight into an unblocked defender after the fake handoff.

Opinion Need to vent about Nick as a coach & share my experience with him
Some background: I'm a former college football coach and current high school coach. My first high school coaching job was on a staff with several coaches who played/coached at Mount Union. For those who don't know, Nick is a former player and coach at Mount under Larry Kheres. Through my Mount connections, I got to meet some incredible coaches: Jason Candle (former Toledo HC, current UConn HC), Matt Campbell (Penn State HC), Tom Manning (Colts TEs, didn't go to Mount but coached with Jason at Toledo), several HS coaches, and Nick.
I met Nick for the first time back in early spring of '24. I don't claim to be friends or associates with Nick, but I did get opportunities to pick his brain and learn a lot about how he operates as a coach, and how he carries himself. Not sure if it's because we were in a room full of all his former college roommates/friends, or if that's just who he is, but he was very open and enthusiastic with just about everything I asked.
I will say it was very difficult not going into "fan-mode" and ask him about the previous season's collapse, staff hires, positional outlook, etc.
I heard from him a few times since then. I got to learn a lot about his offensive install philosophy and procedures, individual coaching points on route running, how he conducts film sessions and meetings, and more things I can't think of off top.
Watching these past two seasons, especially this season and the press conference from yesterday, he seems like a shell of himself. It's not my place to question his decisions on or off the field as I truly don't know what is going on behind the scenes, but it really sucks to see. I'm sure a lot of you will agree with me, but his time in Philly has run its course. It's always tough seeing the coach of your favorite team fail like this.
I'm by no means a blind Sirianni defender, he's made me yell at my TV more times than I'd like to. Ultimately, the product on the field is a direct reflection of you as a coach. Everything from the result of the game, to the individual technique and effort. A common phrase in the coaching community pertaining to poor technique and effort goes: "you're either coaching it, or you're letting it happen". I think that is more prevalent than ever with this Eagles team. From the players, to the coaching staff. It has very clearly not been up to his standards these last few years, and I think it's finally got to him.
All that being said, I love Nick, I love Jalen, I'm very optimistic that Jalen will be back next season. I've loved watching his growth as an NFL player over the last several years, seeing him build on each season. I think Jalen is perfect for this city and this organization. Jalen is the type of quarterback and player that I want my quarterbacks to strive to become. Unfortunately for Nick, I believe his time in Philly has come to an end, but I will always be grateful for his impact on the city, bringing home another Lombardi, and for our conversations. He's definitely helped me grow as a coach.
I’d be happy to share the notes from my conversations with Nick. I will need to find them first as they’re buried somewhere in my notebooks. Also more than happy to talk ball anytime!

Meme Me all day.
My 8yo daughter almost broke into tears when I told her that J Hurts was done for the year, far and away her favorite player. "He'll be back next year for the eagles, right dad? Cuz he's the best." I hope so, kid. It's much more than a game, rest up QB1.

Statistics [Stats] The Eagles have missed 14.5% of their 2026 tackles, tied with the Bucs for 2nd-worst in the NFL. Only Denver is worse... by less than 2%. The offense is bad, but the defense, which is tied for dead last in takeaways with just 3 through 7 games, is a shell of itself.

Opinion The Jalen Situation and the Proliferation of Misinformation
I commented this on a previous post, but given how frustrating it has been seeing person after person make unhinged proclamations, rooted in unfounded assumptions, has compelled me to make it its own damn post:
Less than a day into receiving the news regarding Jalen, and unsurprisingly, the reactionary takes generated by people with zero medical expertise or information outside of hot take media outlets (some of which have already been retracted) is proliferating faster than bacteria in a Petri dish. People are so quick to make dramatic proclamations about Jalen having potentially played his last game, without knowing the difference between a chronic genetic clotting disorder (thrombophilia) and a trauma induced blood clot (which Hurts' suffered). These are the same people quick to jump on the narrative of the organization not having acted responsibly with regard to Hurts' condition. There's a reason folks are encouraged against googling symptoms and self-diagnosing, and the same rule applies to this situation. Unless you're a medical professional, specifically one that has been working on Hurts' case, you really don't possess the information necessary to make assumptions or draw meaningful conclusions as it pertains to the situation. So maybe, spare us all the dramatic BS founded on information you don't possess, and let the cards fall how they may, ya jabronis.

Opinion Eagles organization is pathetic for leaving Nick out to dry in that press conference
Don’t care what you think about his coaching. Howie and Jeff are pathetic for that. After all he’s done. What an embarrassment for the organization. Howie and/or other operational staff members should have been there. Wtf does Nick know about why Jalen got on that flight. Nick might be a lot of things, but he loves his players. Super lame.

Player Discussion (Pelissero) Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is expected to be sidelined for multiple months after new imaging over the weekend found several blood clots in his lungs. Hurts is now on blood thinners and should have no long-term effects. But it’s unlikely he plays again this season.
