Vent At the week where I lost my pregnancy.
Last May, I found out at my 15 week appointment that the baby had stopped growing at 12 weeks. It was incredibly devastating and I still cry every time I think about it. I’ve tried to move on as best I could, but it did change my life.
I found out I was pregnant this year in August, totally unplanned but have grown to let myself be a little excited. Still not thinking of names, and probably won’t find out the gender til much later on because I don’t want to let myself be too excited. I am 12 weeks 1 day today, and I’m not doing great this week.
I have a hard time trusting my body now, even though the loss was a one off event and they couldn’t find anything abnormal when tested. Being here at the mark when my last baby stopped growing is really really tough. I had a scan last week at exactly 11 weeks and baby was measuring one day ahead with a perfect heart rate, but I still can’t let myself be less anxious.
Last pregnancy, I never really got attached to it even though we had the gender and name picked out. I was very distant from the whole idea and really spent the whole pregnancy in a sour mood, maybe my mother’s intuition knew the ending. This one feels different and I feel like I will have a good outcome, I can tell that my feelings are just anxiety and not intuition. (Then the doubt comes creeping back in, I hope I’m right).
Pregnancy after loss, even when you get further along, is constant worrying that something isn’t going to turn out. It’s not letting myself be excited because what if the baby is ripped from me
again far too soon? I’m not even planning on telling anyone til maybe my 15 week appointment, or even further out. Only a few select people know. Most people in the “safe zone” at 12 weeks but unfortunately that’s not my reality.
All this to say, it’s really hard. I’m venting and rambling but needed to get it out somewhere. I’m going to pay for a private scan here in the next few weeks for some peace of mind and not sure I will feel peace until then.
