With all the buzz around injuries there are a lot of videos and posts talking about the niners being major buyers on the trade market. However, I just don't see it making much sense.
DL: Sure trading for someone like Buckner, if he's even really on the market, will make us better in the short term, but I'm not sure he'd move the needle enough to justify the cost. This is not to say he's not good but with the emergence of Grayson Holton and Romello Height I feel pretty good about the D-Line. Especially with Mikel Williams returning, and looking good and Bosa potentially being back next week. Toss in White and Valdez we have a pretty mean 7 to 8 man rotation already. Maybe if someone like Mack can be had for SUPER cheap but Im not sure I want to take reps away from Height at this point.
WR: Are we banged up? Yes... Are our starting WRs next week potentially going to be Brandon Cooks and Jordan Watkins? Also yes... But coming out of the bye we should get Deebo, and Robison back. Kirk should be in game shape by then and Evans will have a few weeks to rest, assuming he doesn't play next week. Plus Stribling should be back a few weeks after that and will likely be 4th or 5th in the depth chart. Anyone we add will just push him further down and likely won't be a big factor in our offense until we get most of the guys back either way. Sure the idea of spending a 2nd or 3rd on someone like Pickens is interesting but I'd rather see what we have in Stribling than waste the capital and likely have to pay Pickens as well
If we do make some moves expect it to at most be for someone who can handle return duties or even for some OL depth. Heck I could see us even being sellers along the DL, DB or even QB position (Mac could still be flipped for a 3+ in my book). Not saying we should be sellers but I wouldn't be surprised either.
