In r/Melbourne, we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land and recognise their ongoing connection to the lands, waters, and communities of this area. We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, as well as to the Elders past and present.

Need help working out what traffic control company this truck belongs to (pictures below - can't get better resolution). It smacked into a neighbours car a few seconds later and drove off.
Edit : don't think I can get better resolution. Neighbour is trying.

Got tickets with friends to see Fatboy Slim in Melbourne in March next year.
Waited YEARS for my favourite drum and bass artist, Chase and Status, to return to Melbourne... And it's ALSO on 13th March next year!
Anyone else in this predicament? Does anyone think C&S date could get moved?

A European guy (maybe in his 30’s) started preaching on a busy city bound train from Werribee this morning, about how we’re all preparing to burn in hell. After about 10 seconds I had enough, and told him a couple times: “Shut up mate, no one wants to hear it”.
He proceeded to preach as he put his hand up at me to shoosh (the nerve). A couple others also asked him to be quiet, but he just kept going. I gave up, and just pouted until he finished.
Has anyone else experienced this, and how did you deal with it? Or stories of well executed shutdowns?
I also understand that some people will say it’s a free country and people have free speech. But when you trap people on a train with your ranting, whether it’s about religion or any other topic, I absolutely despise it and I can’t help but get angry about it.

I have FINALLY landed a full time job after 11 months of unemployment. It was HELL ON EARTH but we’ve made it!
Since I graduated uni this will be the first time I’ll have a full time job and therefore be unavailable 9-5 Mon-Fri.
I have two weeks until I start. What to do in Melbourne during working hours to take advantage of this time? Particularly if it’s not available after work or on the weekends. I don’t have a car but do take PT so may explore the V Line. Also any practical things to do? I’ve already made a doctors appointment for a script renewal ✅

Recently there was a lady in distress at a train station due to an incident I won't disclose, but after taking her to the police station and providing a statement and leaving to get back to uni as it happened during commute, she has asked to meet for dinner and then asked about my specific department in my university. I am aware that sometimes I can be mistrusting of people but i am worried that specific questions about my place of study etc are being asked. Is this a known trap for anything like being mugged etc?

What is everyone's favourite restaurant in the District docklands (or even just on that northern side of docklands near the water). Need something I can take young kids to (3/5 yo) for dinner.

Hi everyone, I don't have the budget for a lawyer, so I am turning to this community for some practical advice on how to proceed.
Here is the situation:
The VCAT Case: I took my landlord (the owner) to VCAT because she unlawfully increased the rent. VCAT ruled in my favor and ordered her to pay me $2,500. She dragged out the process by raising false claims, but the outcome didn't change.
Bond Issue: She also failed to lodge my bond on time and only lodged it years later after I moved out and filed a complaint.
Current Stage: The VCAT monetary order is now finalized, and I am ready to enforce it at the Magistrates' Court of Victoria.
The Address Problem: When we signed the tenancy agreement, the landlord used the rental property itself as her residential address. However, she never actually lived there.
I strongly suspect she did this for mortgage fraud (claiming owner-occupier status for a lower interest rate). Here is why:
Throughout my tenancy, I dealt primarily with her husband, who mentioned that the house was solely in his wife's (the landlord's) name.
In past messages regarding rent payments/delays, her husband explicitly mentioned that they had to pay the mortgage on the property.(not sure if its this house that mortgaged, they run rooming house business so could be other unit)
During our dispute regarding the bond, she provided a completely different mailing/postal address via WhatsApp so I could sign and post a form to her.
So I have clear evidence that she lives elsewhere and lied about her residential address on the lease.
My questions to the community:
Before taking enforcement steps (like a Warrant to Seize Property or Summons for Oral Examination), should I email the landlord, attach the Magistrates' Court recording notice, and demand her true current address while warning her that court/institutional reviews will look into her historical address and financing discrepancies?
Should I contact the Magistrates' Court first to explain that the address on file (from the tenancy agreement) is false, and ask how to update it before initiating enforcement?
What is the most effective way to handle this without a lawyer to ensure the enforcement agencies (like the Sheriff's Office) target the right location?
Any advice or guidance on how to navigate this enforcement phase would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

It was an ok drink, would’ve preferred it in a tall glass like the picture :) I usually don’t order unfamiliar drinks, and maybe I should keep it that way lol. Surely this is deceptive advertising

First time going in a few years and man it was about 80% AI crap. Even the show its self uses AI artwork to promote.

I was coming in from the Eastern suburbs a few nights ago on the M1, and I needed to turn off for the M2 towards the airport. But even with copious signage, and Google maps, I still managed to take the wrong exit. I'm always confused by the freeways to the west and south of the CBD, no matter how many times I've driven there.
Thank goodness I'm not an Uber driver.

Hi guys!
It’s my boyfriend’s birthday next week and I was planning a cute little day trip for us. Werribee Zoo and walk around the Werribee Park Mansion after and finally end with some dinner at Volcanos. Unfortunately, now the weather is saying it’s going to be rainy and cold the day we wanted to go.
Anybody have any suggestions on how we can make this plan more indoor-sy. I would like to do an activity followed by dinner. He’s an adrenaline junkie but he’s also dislocated his shoulder recently so nothing that requires too much physical activity. Anything in or near the Melbourne CBD would be great and something thats unique, not like mini golf or anything

I just got PHI so I can afford a surgery I’m getting in the future. Is it worth getting extras cover too? I added it to my policy and I get $500 as the annual limit but that’s like 1.5 dentist appointments so I’m wondering if I should drop the extras cover or if it will work out cheaper in the long run?
I’m the first in my family to have PHI so it’s all so new to me
