So I'm 38 and lost my dad to cancer in 2020, and I have no other male role model figures in my life and most of my friends are tied up with their new families.

I'd like to find a "men's shed" kind of club or whatever with a workshop where I can go for a chat, learn about tools, learn how to fix my old electronics myself, maybe have a beer and make some friends.

In my head I'm imagining the guys from King of the Hill, and I guess a few Hanks, Boomhauers, even Dales and Bills would be great.

Sure I could watch YouTube tutorials but I can't afford to buy tools as I'm in pretty sever financial hardship, and videos don't cure being lonely. I need some camaraderie in my life atm because things are really bleak and dark thoughts are increasing

Cheap fuel has caused chaos on Adelaide streets with an almost kilometre-long line of vehicles seeking relief at the pump. Billionaire Adrian Portelli’s newly opened station at Edwarstown is slinging fuel for 99c a litre with the internet personality describing it “God’s work” despite the frustrations of nearby businesses.

Vehicles queued up along Daws Rd banked up to Carramarra Ave as motorists clamoured to take advantage of the Saturday-only deal. Traffic controllers set up cones around the entrance of the station and signs warning other motorists to slow down and avoid the queue in an attempt to control the chaos.

Portelli announced on Friday unleaded petrol would be slashed for Saturday. “We are doing God’s work over in Adelaide, because all the neighbouring petrol stations in South Australia have dropped their prices and are trying to compete with LMCT+,” he said. “So I thought, seeing as we’re all trying to give back to the community, let’s go one step further (on Saturday) – 91 unleaded, let’s do it for 99c.

A decision to ban a health care worker who abused "vulnerable" clients has been upheld by the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (SACAT).

Adrian Fabio Mangini had asked for a review after the Community Services Complaints Commissioner banned him from practising indefinitely.

Mr Mangini has filed an appeal against SACAT's decision in South Australia's Supreme Court.

South Australian motorists have been fined a total of $587,622 across only two 40km/h school zones in the past 10 months – with the overall haul to government coffers projected to soar past $9.85m annually as of next year. Fines issued between December 2025 and September 2026, obtained from Data SA, show 706 people were fined for exceeding time-based 40km/h speed limits outside Marryatville High School and Goodwood Primary School.

The Advertiser revealed a total of 28 speed and red-light cameras would be in effect across 159 school zones by the end of 2026. It’s estimated that, if all fixed cameras captured data at the same rate as Kensington Rd and Goodwood Rd – which were the only publicly available data sets, 11,861 expiation notices would be issued yearly to SA drivers. That would equate to a total annual revenue expected to increase by 1580 per cent to more than $9,872,050.

Police Minister Michael Brown could not rule out plans to install speed cameras at the remaining 131 school zones – or even whether the total amount of speeding fines would significantly rise as a result. The Advertiser contacted Mr Brown for comment on Friday afternoon, to ask whether there were any plans for the current 28 speed and red-light school zone cameras to increase. He said “not every” school zone would have a camera.

The most expensive notice issued over the past 10 months was a $2895 fine handed to six different drivers for exceeding the speed limit by 20km/h or more. Five of those six drivers were speeding along Kensington Rd.

The average fine value was $832.33 per notice, with each camera generating an average revenue of $293,811. Revenue from speed and red-light camera fines goes into the Community Road Safety Fund – which is used to fund road upgrades and road safety programs.

I only drive a regular elantra but goddamn all the CUVs, SUVs and other talls block so much of my view driving. There's a parking lot in town i use that coming out of is such a bitch now because cars are allowed to park on the street to my right blocking my view of oncoming traffic because they are so tall.

There's been times in I cannot see traffic lights because of a combo of tall cars and trucks. They're also so big usually that parking can be a tight fit nowadays. I don't remember this being a thing back in the past.

I’m not sure if this is the perfect sub for this question but I don’t know where else I could post.

I’m in Adelaide, 19, and just got a job offer at a pub. The title is “junior bar attendant” but I’ll serving drinks, clearing/setting tables, serving food, etc. They just sent me a contract to sign that states my pay rate would be $23.02 an hour. I know that I’m a junior, but I thought that under the Hospitality Industry (General) Award (MA000009) juniors get full adult pay if they serve alcohol as part of their job, which I’ll be doing. I’ve also been hired as a casual worker which gives a 25% increase too.

Here’s the exact details that they listed in the contract:
