Assistance LOST CAT: Ingle Farm Beovich Rd/Walkleys Road

Hi everyone, posting on here as well as Facebook to get the word out.

Our cat Bum Bum escaped on Saturday morning in the underground car park at Ingle Farm Shopping Centre, he bolted in the direction of walkleys road and Beovich road

He's a 13 year old black cat with white paws (looks like little white socks) and a white patch on his chest/chin. He doesn't have a collar on, he is microchipped.

He's timid, so he’s likely hiding under cars, bushes, or in quiet corners around the loading dock at coles. He might respond if you call his name gently.

If you see him or live nearby, please let us know straight away: 0404 311 391.

Thanks so much for keeping an eye out for him!

Assistance Looking for advice on what to do about persistent illegal parking situations.

I live directly across from a primary school and almost every time I need to leave or return home during pick up or drop off times, my drive way has been partially blocked by a school parents and prevents us from being able to leave the property until the parent comes back.

I have contacted both the school and council but have yet to resolve the issue, this has been ongoing for years now. We are a 2 driveway/4 car household so it is an issue we deal with on a regular basis. We try our best to avoid coming or going during these times but sometimes it cant be avoided.

Most times the parent has gone in to collect the child and you have to wait until they come back, some parents are willing to move when they see you trying to leave, some parents are not very considerate at all and will argue back with 'Just wait, I'll be gone when my kid gets here.'

Its a regular occurance to see neighbours outside telling parents to move their cars or waiting on parents to return to their cars whilst trying to get in or out of their drive ways.

Im asking for advice on what to do next, as council wont send out a parking inspector and contacting the school to notify parents that this is illegal and an inconvenience to the residents hasnt seemed to have any effect.

Anyone find it a bit odd they're doing their launch in NSW instead of here? I'm keen to try it and would happily attend an event if it was here.

Question Adelaide couples counselor recommendations after betrayal

My wife and I are in need of a counselor to help us see if we can save our marriage after her affair. She works with her AP, so my sense of safety is at zero.

Looking for a fair and unbiased counselor who can help us communicate past our fears and defensiveness, face the reality, and try to make a decision with clarity about moving forward (and how) or not.

Would really like somebody who uses EFT as a modality, and who is $250 or less per session. Although a good couselor, I'm sure, is worth every single penny they charge.

DMs or recommendations here are welcome.

I’m looking to hear about recent arrival experiences regarding immigration checks. Are there any specific documentations or questions they should be particularly prepared for at the border? Any insights would be appreciated she’s arriving with a working holiday visa

Discussion OTR theft

• Upvotes

Last night 11pm I saw someone steal a whole bag of goods from my local OTR, this morning I fill up full of petrol and notice the same guy stealing a whole bag of goods. He steals from there 5 times a day, he is up to around ten thousand worth of stolen goods, he is on camera, they report it to the police, but nothing gets done. How is this fair? I work two jobs and find it hard to make ends meet. Why is it now common to see people stealing everywhere and nothing is curtailing it?

I was in another store and saw 3 people stealing at the same time. In Salisbury at another service station 2 guys announced as they came in that they were there to fill their bags and as they left they said Thank-you to the staff. It’s frustratingly ridiculous to everyone trying to do the right thing.

So what’s the answer? It can’t keep going on like this. Government, police, lawyers - what’s the answer? How does Adelaide crack down on this unacceptable behaviour?

Question The parking situation in Jetty Road Glenelg is awful

I was in Glenelg this weekend. So it seemed was everyone else. Jetty road was packed with people, none of whom could pass each other on the tiny pavements. There's cars parked all the way along the road, taking up so much space. There isn't a single zebra crossing anywhere and only a couple of places to cross. People were crossing between the parked cars all along.

Why was so much space given to parking?

Why are cars allowed to park there at weekends?

Why is the road open to cars at all during the weekend?

I could understand if there were a few disabled bays and maybe a couple for loading but the rest is dangerous and ruins the whole environment.

It marked a 78 per cent rise in fees from last financial year where the total cost was $86,759.

News Details about last night's earthquake

At 2:26 this morning there was an earthquake in the Barossa.
Geoscience Australia has a national network with automatic monitoring and so had things to report promptly.

This morning we (well, my dad) did a location using our local network. Being so close to Adelaide we have quite a few seismic recorders in the area and we were able to locate the epicentre quite closely. Just south of Greenock.

You can see the details here https://earthquakes.mappage.net.au/q.php
Click the first entry in the list with "Nuiootpa 6km W".

There are a few pages of info. Phases shows all the sites used to get the location. You can see we have quite a few in Adelaide.

Magnitude shows the sites used to estimate the magnitude, which is very inexact. You get a range of different values, so best if you have more.

More stuff on Australian earthquakes at earthquake.net.au

Question Shade sail recommendations?

Looking for a fairly large (at least 5 x 5 m) square shade sail, hardware, and steel posts for attachment in our backyard. Quotes I've received so far are all over the place.

Can anyone recommend a business that does supply and installation? Thanks all!

Question Evaporative Cooler - Duct cleaning

Unsure if this sort of service exists but every year when Summer rolls in, I turn on the evaporative cooler and it 1. Smells musty and 2. Seems dusty (rhyming unintentional).

Who would I call to have the ducts cleaned? Is there a "duct cleaner" service out there?

News Delays on the Gawler Line - City bound

There are currently no trains running to Adelaide due to a train being stuck at Salisbury, due to a passenger issue, and awaiting attendance by an ambulance. Trains behind are stuck.

If you are south of Salisbury, suggest heading for the nearest bus. Trains will get moving again but delays will cascade throughout the morning.

EDIT: Trains have started moving again from 8am, expect delays as they work to clear the back log. Thanks @squidsareneat.

I’ve received a letter from sa dental that I’ve reached the top of the waiting list. They’ve given me a voucher to take to a private dentist. Does anyone know if it’s just the one appointment? I need a few fillings and just wondering exactly what the voucher does cover

Thanks

Question Favourite town to stay in McLaren Vale?

It’s my first time heading there and doubting between staying in McLaren Vale, Willunga or Aldinga. Understand they’re all pretty close to each other. Just wanted to see which town people prefer for nice vibes and just walking outside for a nice feed or drink.

Appreciate the recommendations!

Edit: Thanks everyone. This sub is so incredibly nice and helpful!

Assistance Adelaide seems pretty cool. Recommendations?

New to Adelaide, originally from New Zealand. Lived in both Queensland and New South Wales before.

Looking for recommendations if anybody at all has the time.

Nice suburbs to live in? I prefer modern apartments rather than old houses. Think 20-s 40-s working professional type suburbs.

Gyms? I signed up to anytime when I first moved to NSW, low key don't like them here. Kinda small and a bit dirty. Looking for one where it's normal to wear nice clothes and I won't look out of place wearing a matching outfit. Also where people don't come in smelling. Cost not an issue.

Local gig guides? I can't find much online, like all music. Think house/drum n bass DJs, orchestras and chamber, hardcore/metal. Literally all types. Any type of music scene going on?

Best eats/resteraunts? All/any types of food. Just what you find yum.

Any social sports leagues? Any sport tbh.

Thx 🙏
