I suffered a rare trauma during my accident, no professionals have seen before

• Upvotes

Three months ago, I (21F) was involved in a serious motorcycle accident that completely changed my life overnight. I was the one riding on my MT-07

I suffered multiple injuries, including a ruptured spleen that required emergency surgery, several fractures, and a severe injury to my gluteal muscles.

For months, I knew something was wrong with my hip and buttock. There was swelling, fluid, and a visible deformity like a part of my hip is MISSING. I kept going to doctors, getting examined, waiting, and hoping someone would finally give me a clear answer. I was repeatedly left waiting while time passed.

Now, three months later, I’ve been told that I have a muscle tear of my gluteus maximus muscle, which has healed in a displaced position. It has left a visible indentation and asymmetry, and it is contributing to my difficulty walking/imbalance. Surgery might be an option, but I’ve been warned that because so much time has passed, the chances of a successful repair may be lower.

I cannot describe how devastating it is to be 20 years old and have to wonder whether my body will ever feel like my own again. I’m scared of living with a permanent imbalance, struggling to walk normally, and having to accept a physical change that might have been addressed differently if it had been recognized earlier.

I know doctors are human, and I know medicine isn’t perfect. But it’s incredibly frustrating to keep thinking about all the appointments, all the waiting, and all the times I trusted that things would work themselves out, only to find myself here. I can’t help wondering what might have happened if someone had taken my concerns more seriously sooner.
I don’t want pity. I want my life back. I want to be able to walk without worrying, look at myself without feeling devastated, and stop having to make decisions about my future around injuries I never asked for.

I just needed to get this off my chest. I’m exhausted, I’m scared, and I’m angry that while everyone else gets to move on with their lives, I’m still trying to figure out whether I’ll ever get mine back.

Also allow me to kindly ask to wear your helmets ❤️ I would not be here right now writing this post if it wasn’t for my trusty helmet ❤️ Ride safe ✌️

I F'ed up. If you're crossing mud, don't do what I did.

So I was doing Route66 not too long ago and it had been raining in New Mexico/Texas portion that morning.

I didn't expect a mud washout, but there were a few. The first one I got through okay, but the second one, not so much. That mud turned out to be way slicker than I expected and I simply lost traction and control. Looking back, I see that I should have crossed slower and been more patient. And turning around, I would have had to go back through that first washout and backtrack a few miles.

I'll admit, I don't have much experience offroading, if you would call it that.

Luckily there was a guy riding a bike on the same road coming the other way. He saw me fall and helped me get my bike back up. I helped him get his bike over a fence so he could cross the bridge instead of going through the mud like I did.

Came away with zero injuries, though my helmet took a hit, which I'll be replacing soon.

This magazine was instrumental in my brother's and I falling in love with fast, ridiculous bikes that were pieced and chopped together! We had a Kawasaki GPZ 550 called the Ciznycle and a GPZ 650 called the Streetfucker. I wish I had more of the old issues. I found this one in a box in my storage unit. Total blast from the past. Hopefully the last pic isn't too spicy.

Tire Weight Balance Inconsistency From CG

The first 2 pictures are my fresh balance from cycle gear today for my 2024 ZX6R. The second 2 are after I took it to them again,I had no issues with misbalance the second time, just the weights fell off. The last 2 are the first time I took it to them which there was definitely a misbalance I felt it very aggressively in the front. I only took them back today because they fell off.

Every time I go the balance is different, it’s always in a different spot I’ve taken it there 3 times. I use the tire markings to tell the difference on where they place them every time. Is there a logical explanation? I don’t know how the balance from today feels since I just got home. Should I just go somewhere else?

What tires would you recommend me getting for my '15 S1000R?

• Upvotes

I do mostly street riding, taking it to the track maybe once or twice a year at most. But i do sometimes do spirited rides on the twisties.
I have the Michelin Power 5's on my '15 S1000R right now, and its almost getting time for replacement.
Naturally I'm looking at the Power 6's, but I've read some comments about some people not having much confidence in harder or longer turns, and I've seen many comments complaining about these tires being quite noisy, many thinking their wheel bearing was shot.
How true/bad are these claims?

I've also started looking at some Bridgestone S23's, but do these tires have a very short wear life?
What else would you recommend?

I am removing the cylinder-head cover and there are loose rocks wedged between the bolt. What do I do.

Hi, I'm doing a valve-clearance check on my 2015 Yamaha MT-03 (321cc). There are small stones stuck between the cylinder-head cover bolt heads and the surrounding recesses. Do the four cover-bolt holes open into the engine, or are they blind holes? I'm worried debris could fall inside when I remove the bolts. Thanks!

Honda grom idle rpm jumps up as soon as I put it in first.

Like the title says, when in neutral, the bike idles around 2k rpm, but when I put it in gear, it jumps all the way to around 3,200rpm. I just adjusted the air mixture screw and the idle adjust screw but neither of those adjustments should affect the engine RPM as much as I’m seeing here. Any and all insight is greatly appreciated!

Do you carry a trauma kit?

My dad had a nasty crash recently, which got me thinking about riding safety. I'm debating buying a pre-made trauma kit or building my own for bad cuts, road rash, or breaks on the road. Do you guys carry one while you ride? Does anyone have a story where a trauma kit saved a life while riding?

Do you add many aftermarket electronics, and does your wiring look like spaghetti?

Got a cruiser, looking at accessories. Planning on getting a hard wired GPS, android auto, motion sensor tilt vibration alarm with remote cutoff and flashing lights, and boss speakers. Trickle charger cord for easy access. Is this too much? I mean, I've calculated the power draw and my bike can handle it. Just curious to hear what the community thinks about hard wiring in 4-6 things, as I could imagine adding road cameras and led lighting and more, would quickly make your high look like spaghetti.

I can't keep my '99 sv650s running normal because it keeps dying

• Upvotes

Hello there,

I started to have some issues with the sv and it's driving me crazy. At first when i got it, it was running smooth and good, no issues. Then my plates got suspended for the exhaust and some other issues regarding lights. Sent it to someone to repair, and sitted for 9 months because he had no time for it. Then i relocated it to someone else and solved what was left pretty fast. The point is the bike was sitting outside for a whole year. After i got it back, it wasn't starting. Cleaned carbs, changed a hose or 2, and it started and ran well. The problem was that it was leaking gas when over half full tank. Fixed that with some sealant but then it turned on, ran a little then it stopped, kinda when you run out of gas (slowly decreasing rpm, idle at 1k rpm then dead. It was cranking but no start. Then we peeled off the sealant, opened the carbs, changed some sealants in there and a few parts, put it back in, cleaned what could be cleaned + the gas and petcock opening and cleaning. Then it started, idled, was ok, 10-15 mins later, same thing. Cranked, battery dead. Charged battery, fiddled under the tank with hoses, started, ran, 15 mins later, low idle-dead. repeat.

What could be the cause of this "run out of gas" symptom? at this point i'll either burn the bike or sacrifice myself for it to run

How risky is riding a motorcycle at the track?

sorry for the long post, I currently have a 2025 XSR900 that I absolutely love riding, I have track day experience in cars and I really want to take my XSR to the track to learn more. The problem is insurance, cars have a handful of track coverage options, Hagerty, etc. I have called many different places regarding motorcycles and I've come to the conclusion that I would not be able to get weekend coverage.

I understand that a lot of people ride expecting to pay for damages and whatnot or have track dedicated bikes, but is it dumb to take my XSR to the track? Unsure if this changes anything but I don't owe money on the bike and own it outright, I ride it daily and would hate to not have a bike for months if something happens (although I do have a car as well). Are accidents on track common? (I know it's hard to gauge and completely dependent on people and the biggest risk is yourself) but I guess I just possibly want advice on whether or not it's a bad idea. Also, is there any advice to safely find limits on the track? I enjoy canyon riding quite a bit but I want to learn as much as I can, preferably without eating it lol

any advice is greatly appreciated, also I do have interest in getting a sports bike that I would track but currently do not have the space, but suggestions for good second bikes that can be ridden on track with minimal prep and are under like 5-6kusd are very welcome (would also prefer an inline 4)

TLDR: Want to track my XSR900 but worried about how risky it is due to not being able to get trackday insurance, also interested in a second sportsbike that I would also use for the track but don’t have space atm

Would you trade a 2026 ZX4RR for a 2019 R6?

2026 ZX4RR for a 2019 YZF-R6?

Absolutely love the look of the R6. But the ZX4RR has been so fun to hear shifting through the gears. It’s just not that fast and the R6 just has that wow factor for me. Every time I see one, I’m blown away by how aggressive and sleek it looks. I don’t quite get quite the exact same feeling looking at my ZX4RR.

How does the experience with the R6 compare? Is a 2019 R6 with 5k miles still reliable and safe? I do want something faster so the 600 is a nice upgrade but mainly the R6 just looks soooo good imo. What do you guys think? How do the sounds compare? Would the power difference be very noticeable?

Is it bad that I changed my oil but not the oil filter which is now damaged?

Post image
353 Upvotes

So basically I was in the process of changing my oil and my filter is stuck. I tried 3 different tool, the band clamp, the prong clamp, and the cup one. None of them worked so all i did was put new oil in, now my filter is all scratched and dented in some places. I also drove 100 miles today with that setup and no leaks or anything out of the ordinary, can I leave this setup until next oil change and I’ll bring it to a shop or is this a major problem?

Choosing a 50 year old bike as a new rider has driven me insane. I want upgrade.

Post image
424 Upvotes

So i been riding this 1980 Suzuki gs400 for a season now. honestly it’s been fun, until it randomly just decides to develop new problem, and that happens on a 2-3 week interval.

i had to fix the tachometer, speedometer, turn signals, mirrors, battery. it got leaking tires that won’t hold pressure, gas cap that leaks. And three days ago front caliper suddenly clamped the rotor when I was riding. The bike became almost impossible to move and when I managed to get it back, as soon I took off the helmet I can smell the burnt brake pads.

Try to flush the brakes and fluid reservoir cap broke.

this might just be it, I’m tired. ordered some random master cylinder assembly off amazon, this will be the last repair attempt for the bike.

I guess it taught me how to work on my bike, but as a fairly new rider, something new, easy, and require less work would be much more fun and less intimidating. I have real problems in my life and riding should’ve been a pleasure, it should’ve been fun. not adding problems and constantly pissing me off.

So what’s next? Im 6’2 and I want something bigger, and comfortable to ride.

im a big fan of the long way series documentary so I want a gs. Hayabusa has been THE motorcycle, especially after riding the gen 1 my friend’s dad has. could they be a bit too much?
