Discussion Any epileptic riders here? 🧠 ⚡️ I know, unique question but hear me out

Post image
31 Upvotes

I was diagnosed as epileptic in 2010 after a grand mal seizure, but my epilepsy has been controlled for 16 years (never passed out again but had minor episodes), and about a month ago I had another grand mal seizure.

Just wondering if anyone has dealt with (or deals with) the same and would be interested in riding together at some point since we understand each other a little better than those with normal functioning brains. For anyone reading this, please don’t think that I am not considering public safety and my own safety into account. My seizures went controlled a decade and a half so I am confident I’ll get back to that in due time. The reason I chose to go from cruisers to dual sports is specifically to be off the road more than on the road and dirt roads 🛣️ ⛰️⛺️

My license is suspended for 3 months until I get my medication situated again and have no epileptic episodes. 💊 Hopefully things get better and I can get back on a bike next year. 🏍️ ⛰️

Also, now that this resurfaced I plan on adding an arsenal of safety devices and GPS or satellite communication options for when I’m riding. If anyone has some advice on items that don’t require cell service but would allow for my loved ones and I to be in touch please drop info in the comments. Thanks for reading and your input. 📡 📱 🗺️

USA to south america

Cant really find much information on motorcycle trip to south america on bikes. Plan is to ride with a buddy to Argentina and back next year. Whats a ballpark cost for fuel, food, maintenance and miscellaneous for a 4 month trip? Camping as much as possible. Is 4 months a decent time? Dr650 for me and klr650 for my buddy. I know crossing the darian gap will be a decent cost.

Organized Yamaha Petition

Admin please delete if this is not okay. I read the rules but I may have misinterpreted them.

Hey guys, for years I keep reading on forums and groups about how Yamaha needs to join the middle-weight dualsport market. Well, I've decided to start a petition to get Yamaha to build a WR450R or similar. I'll post a link to the petition and if anyone would be willing to sign it, it'd be great to see it gain momentum. I know petitions like this have worked in the past for bikes like the CRF450L and Yamaha's very own Tenere 700. Feel free to share the link! I just want to finally have an organized, regulated way to show Yamaha that we want change and innovation from them! #BuildtheWR450R

Discussion Anybody got JT racing gloves? Sizing?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I really like the 90s look of the Swash gloves. I know they don’t have really any protection but this is just for fun in dirt to match my bike. I’ve already got some Shima CE rated leather gloves for road use. Anybody have their gloves? How do they fit?

The size guide online according to measurements says I should get a size Small??! I normally wear a large in gloves. So I’m unsure what to order

Discussion Lowered Foot Pegs for tall rider

Hey guys, I’m 1.95m so 6.4 feet and ride a 690ktm. I lowered the footpegs 20mm and have the handlebars 30mm higher and 20mm offset away from me so a better angle no falling over the bike, huge difference but just not it. When I ride the bike with sneakers it feels amazing (just up and down the street) with my huge 14/15 boots I’m still to high and hunched over.
I’m thinking of dropping the pegs to -50mm with boosley foot pegs, he also offers a 20mm of set and lowering of a break tip. Any experience or recommendations? Thanks guys!

Need opinions

I've recently learned how to ride with my Apollo x18 (Chinese dirtbike) I'm planning on getting a street legal bike by the end of the year. But I'm tied between trying to find a used xr150l off FB marketplace or getting a brand new Chinese 250cc dualsport. I usually see xr150l with low miles on FB marketplace and expect the only issues I'll find is a clogged carburetor and dead battery from sitting. I really have a tight budget of $2000-$2900. My friend who rides with me frequently says I shouldn't get used because I'd just be buying someone else's problems. A clogged carburetor and dead battery seem easy things to fix? Should I go for getting the xr150l and spend a little extra money on immediate maintenance or get a new Chinese dualsport?

"Racing" my KLX300 dual sport in a 24-hour endurance race

Hopefully this isn't considered self-promotion by the mods. But after a year of riding, I found myself in a strange position to have my bike hooked up by a motocross magazine for a 24-hour race at Glen Helen. I was a bit out of my element, but damn it was fun. Not sure if I'd do it again so soon but an amazing experience overall and wanted to share the result.

Thank you to everyone who offered advice on riding on pavement.
My wife and I rode the trails from our cabin to Deadwood and Thru Lead South Dakota. My wife had only ridden the Grizzly to plow snow but had very little experience on trails and pavement.
The only issues we had was that the glare from the morning sun was terrible on parts of the trail. Good thing I am comfortable on rutted trails. The other was that the Cardo intercom was a pain to set up and use. Lots of deer and turkeys were out but we are used to avoiding them. The beautiful weather and colors are distracting so we had to remind ourselves to focus on riding.
Riding on pavement and bricks is much easier than I thought. My wife did a great job and she wants to ride again.
The WR125R is perfect for the kind of riding I do.
Thanks again to everyone.

What navigation device do you use?

Wondering if anyone uses a tablet with gaia or something installed, in a tank bag? Or a phone on the handle bars? Still have a GPS unit too?

Tire Size Question

This will be my 5th bike

Bought the 2025 DRZ SM & this 140 tire…. Idk man. This bike wants to corner and get tossed / abused however what’s the general consensus on this tire size? I hardly get on it and I’m feeling as if I’m going to lowside a lot sooner then any other bike I’ve been on.

Hardcore This is how you get yourself into trouble on a singletrack…

Not riding standing up, hitting an unexpected obstacle, and suddenly finding yourself in a situation you didn’t plan for.

Adventure riding is all about getting into trouble and figuring out how to get out of it again! 🏍️💨

Thats an BMW HP2Enduro ;)

Dad’s first real adventure on a motorcycle, over 400 miles in 5 days. 60 years old and absolutely killed it. Only other time he rode was getting a license at Harley 2 months prior. Proud son moment.
