Best quad for the rockys.

Traded for a bit of a fixer upper idles high and cant shift up without the gears grinding there's also a leak pretty sure its gas. Noobie here and looking for guidance, planning to try to fix it up myself

I'll try to keep this short..

We started having issues shifting last year, not often just figured it struggled in cold weather or was just being finicky. Eventually had to use the gearshift tool to manually shift it and it seemed to work after that.

Then a few months ago it got really bad - it'd get stuck in 4th or 5th gear constantly til we stopped and manually shifted it. One night we put it in the ditch front-first and managed to get it back to the house but ever since it just displays the dash - - or will flash the error codes and refuses to shift at all.

So, we've spent countless hours researching the errors and trying to fix it (codes 22 and 23).

-Cleaned the shift angle sensor, works fine has power

-Cleaned the shift motor, works fine has power

-Cleaned handlebar shift switches, works fine has power

-Checked wires and connections and haven't found any issues yet

-Tested the battery and it's fine

-Checked the fuses all good

Sometimes we'll clean a part then check to see if it shifts and it will click, but most of the time we'll get a no-click.

Next plan it to buy an ECU bypass kit but money's tight and would rather not if we don't have to. That or turn it into a manual shift permanently.

If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them! Been pulling my hair out trying to figure it out lol

it’s not turning only cranking has new oem carburetor gives spark , gas tank not dirty , fuel flows through carb someone told me my piston is fried someone else told me it’s the air fuel ratio someone else told me it’s valve clearance. willing to pay someone with knowledge to do diagnostic and repair

The quad ate belt a while ago, got a new one on but hearing a rattle noise. Any ideas what could be causing it? First photo is the belt that came with the quad and is currently on it, second photo is the belt Polaris dealer gave us.

Battery is new I’m guessing it’s the spark plugs figured I’d reach out here for advice.

Any idea what brand?

Hey. Can anyone point me in the right direction on this. Has GMI 201 on the front but not finding anything else on it and goggle isn’t helping at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated

2025 Polaris Sportsman Touring...ran great for a year...switched it off last week and now I get this...

Went with the obvious and got a new battery...nope. Checked all the fuses...all good... read online about the brake pressure switch so (after multiple wrong parts from the dealership) I swapped that out. Still nope.

Ignition switch at least shows power on the dash but there is NO solenoid click.

Any suggestions for next steps?

I’m considering either a go kart or two atvs for my kids. The younger one is 40 pounds and around 41 inches tall. The older one is a little over 50 pounds and 50 inches tall. Do you have any recommendations for atvs at this age?

Im building and electric quad, got this off of market place for $50. I’m using 72v 60ah battery, 11kw hypertorque motor from golden motors, their 721000 controller, and their liquid cooling system as the main parts for my build. This is my first attempt, any recommendations/advice would be super appreciated.

Hey, I have a 1995 Honda foreman 400 I bought, it’s been sitting for atleast 10 years or so (Ran when parked). I went to crank it when I bought it and turns out it has no spark. I put a new ignition coil and voltage regulator and battery in it and I still don’t have any spark. It’ll crank but won’t spark. Thank you.

My yfz 450 2009 won’t start anymore my original headlights also won’t start anymore but I have aftermarket ones installed but those still work

I need an ATV to do two things. Pull a Kunz 44" rough cut mower for 10 acres every once in a while, three or four times a year, and to ride around the farm fences (approx three miles) once weekly. Level, no hills. I don't need speed, just as long as it will go 5 to 7 mph. I am looking at the Honda Rancher, probably with power steering, or the Yamaha Kodiak 4x4 450 esp. Both of these have great reviews for reliability, and a farm need reliability. BTW, unless it is a difficult repair, I do all my own repairs. As you can see, I need enough, but why pay for more than I need? Are there any recommendations or suggestions? Any farmers, ranchers or landscapers with actual experiences similar to my own?

Dremel your stripped out bowl screw to get it out with a flathead. Then replace with hex socket bolts

Looking for some real life opinions. Looking for a quad. It will be older due to budget. Like 2010-2014, maybe a little older if I go the Japanese route. Power steering (hopefully), and 500cc to 750cc engine size. Looking for a quad mainly for hunting, but also some trail riding with the wife. The trail riding would be fairly easy, nothing to crazy. Just leisurely afternoon rides. Comfort is critical for the both us. Is there anyone that has driven both a proper 2-up quad and a single seat quad with the added on rear seat? If so, what are your opinions on it? I do know that rear foot pegs are a must for rear passenger comfort. Thanks.

Hello, I have a 2006 sportsman 500 EFI that won’t start moving until reaching somewhere between 2500-2750 RPM. I assume this is an issue and not normal? After it starts moving, it drives and accelerates great. This is my first EFI so I’m not super firmiliar with them. Not sure if this is a clutch or belt related issue. What should I check first? 2005 LTZ400

I have a 2003 Honda foreman 450 S. Great machine. Love everything about it except drum brakes. I’ve seen that you can convert to disc but you have to get aftermarket rims. Could I just get wheel spacers and make it work?

Bought a couple weeks ago with dash not working. Replaced the glass, pulled the fuse while running put back in, still nothing. When I turn on the lights the orange underglow lights illuminate but I can’t get anything to show up on the dash. Anyone have any leads?

I picked up a raptor 660 a couple months back and I quickly realized it was insane this thing would pull the wheels up all 5 gears and I start researching and I wondered why it had 3 spark plugs apparently the 3 spark plug mod was a drag mod back in the 2000s (I got this thing for 1500 bucks off marketplace) I’ve had racebikes my whole life built ones to I have a 05 trx that’s ported and polished with hotcams and intake and pipe and I thought it worked good this thing is insane it’ll smoke it in 3rd gear but it started shooting oil out of the left side spark plug and I have no clue on what to do they drilled through the middle of the timing chain and into the cylinder and put a plug and then put a metal sleeve around the coil to try and seal it but it doesn’t seal and it shoots the oil all over your leg on long rides I’m honestly trying to find out what is actually all done to this bike and how I can fix it cause I can’t find a single one like it and I think it’d smoke 421 shees.
