Personal Skills iwtl copy writing.

Hi I'm a creative writer (poetry, storytelling, spoken word) I'm also a public speaker and performer and have been looking for ways to commercialize these skills. Recently, I took interest in copy writing and highly resonate with it. I intend to learn as much as I can before pursuing it professionally. Is there anyone willing to guide me on this?

Personal Skills IWTL different ways to annotate while reading.

I've recently been trying to get back into redaing but I've never liked how my annotating looked in my books. How do people do it and make it neat still?? I've thought of having a notebook with them in it but notebooks get lost and ruined very quickly in my experiences, and I like to be able to just open the book and have them easily found. Thanks in advancešŸ’œ.

Personal Skills IWTL how to explain something I've just learned without repeating the source

What is a good way to practise explaining a new topic in my own words?

I'd like to get past remembering the wording and find out whether I actually understand it. What do you do when your explanation sounds fine but falls apart as soon as someone asks a follow-up question?

Arts/Music/DIY Iwtl New hobby(hopefully)

Hello, I really want to get making music and posting it online, I discovered a passion for it while in school, and now I really want to pursue it. I just not sure what the best starting tools or process. I want to make nerdcore music(ex. Daddyphatsnaps, Gameboyjones, Rustage, and etc.) I made a promise to myself, to genuinely try and give this a real attempt. If anyone is knowledgeable I would be really grateful and appreciative for the advice.
P.S. the platform I want to reside in are, YT, and most other popular music streaming sites.

Academics iwtl - I want to learn how to actually gain information

I want to learn how to actually recall and use information, but I’m struggling with more than just studying. I’m in college, and no matter how hard I try, information doesn’t seem to stick. I already use spaced repetition and active recall, but I also struggle to remember everyday events, days, and times. My mind often feels blank, I have trouble finding words and processing information, and I don’t feel fully engaged with my surroundings. Even articulating this is difficult, so I’m using AI to help organize what I’m trying to say. I didn’t have these difficulties growing up, and it’s frustrating to feel like I’m putting in effort without improving. I'm so lost on what more or what I should do. If anyone could give advice it would help a lot.

Social Skills IWTL to stop being passive aggressive

when i ask my close friend for a feedback, they always said that i have sarcastic jokes and sometimes can be passive aggressive (in a playful way; i never had beef with any of my friends).

but last october i got broken up with my ex. i was the one who got betrayed, and my passive aggressiveness towards this matter is at the roof. i have the urge to speak up about my personal lesson learned in my instagram/tiktok post. i still love my ex, i think my love and care was and still is real, but i lost respect for her because she chose to do the opposite of everything she said on her own.

but deep down, i know it’s not mature to always repost about the betrayal stuff since it’s almost one year since the breakup… any advice?

Personal Skills IWTL - Innovation and creative thinking

With AI making creating things easier everyday, the only limit to what you can do or create with AI will be our creativity. Where can I improve my innovation/creativity? Courses, books, podcasts, articles are all welcome.

Technology IWTL data analysis as a beginner and want to know what to learn in the right order

I'm interested in learning how to take a collection of information, make sense of it, and use it to answer practical questions. Data analysis seems like a useful skill, but the learning paths I've seen can include spreadsheets, SQL, statistics, Python, visualisation, and much more.

I'd rather learn a few things properly than try to study everything at once and end up knowing a little about each.

For someone with no background in the field, what order would you recommend? What would be a suitable first project that demonstrates actual understanding rather than just following a tutorial step by step?

Personal Skills IWTL basic cooking that doesn't taste like regret

I've been surviving on takeout and instant noodles for way too long, and I'd like to finally learn how to cook a few simple, reliable meals. What are some beginner-friendly starting points that actually worked for you?

Personal Skills IWTL how to let go a friendship and not feel betrayed any more

Background: I(F 31) have (had) a BFF(F 30). She and her ex split up recently and it was ugly, she was not over him at all. When she spit with her ex, my husband and I kept her company, helped her move and stuff for a while. She knows my husband too, we used to couple date.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

One day she was talking about she met a guy in our group chat(then just she, my husband and I). she seemed excited and obsessed. I kinda followed this guy on IG so I told her go slow many guys seemed sweet but deep down they are f*ckboys even went to pros**. I know I was being judgmental but it’s not that she’ s dated that guy for a while. She just met him on internet and went out once. I didn’t think my words could hurt her feelings. She quickly asked what about my husband, how I was sure that he did not cheat. And my husband was right in that chat group. I was shocked and asked if she knew anything or tried to give me a heads up. She said I was too sensitive, she was just kidding.

I don’t think this is an appropriate ā€œjokeā€. She obviously didn’t respect me at all. So I gave her the cold shoulder and withdrew myself. I’m still a bit shocked and upset someone I thought was my BFF was so evil and wanted me to hurt so badly. I could never ever say similar things to my friends.

She knows I am upset but she never apologized. She even asked my husband why I was being cold. My husband didn't say much. And she went like well guess right now I need time for myself so she should step back. She didn't even bother asking me in person.

Questions: Am I too sensitive? What was her intention? What should I do after this? I don't feel comfortable hanging out with her after that.

Personal Skills IWTL how to become more observant of my surroundings

I feel like I go through life on autopilot a lot. I walk down the street and barely notice the buildings or the people around me. I miss details that other people seem to pick up on naturally. It's like I'm constantly in my own head. I want to learn how to really see things around me how to be more present and aware. Are there any specific exercises or habits I can develop to improve my observational skills and just take in more of the world?

Academics IWTL math and science

I’ve (30F) always said I’m not good at math and science. Between having not great teachers at foundational stages of the subjects, poor work ethic, and thinking I just wasn’t good at it, I feel almost dumb when it comes to these subjects. I never had to work super hard in school to get good grades in school and would say I’m pretty smart overall, but really struggle with math and science. I remember when I took Zoology in college, I actually tried and studied, and for the life of me could not wrap my mind around the inner functions of a cell. Now that I’m older, stuff like that clicks a little better, but I’m also worried I’ll just never be able to get good at math and science.

What steps could I take to work towards improving my math (especially mental math) skills and science (especially biology) skills? Anyone else struggled in these areas and worked hard and is now proficient in them?

Personal Skills IWTL how to keep improving a skill when I can't practise every day

I'd like to learn how to structure practice when sessions are irregular and sometimes quite short.

What do you do at the end of a session so the next one is easier to start? I'm interested in a method for a practical skill, rather than advice to build a daily streak.

Social Skills iwtl to Deal with situations that agitate you...

I purchased a water filter few months back and it has been breaking down often recently. Already spent money on its service even though it is under warranty (they say only some parts are covered not whole replacement).

It has broken down within a week again and its been really frustrating. The sales person is denying replacement and insists he will check and repair again by taking the filter to warehouse this time.

I want to learn how should I deal with such situations which just frustrate you and you are fed up with the constant repair and breakdowns. Shall I pursue this peacefully or some agitation is required now?

Please suggest.

Thanks

Technology IWTL programming from scratch and want to learn how to solve problems rather than just follow tutorials

Academics iwtl mathematics, physics, programming, and AI, but AI itself is making me question the point of learning anything.

I genuinely want to learn mathematics, physics, programming, computer science, and AI. I want to build a career in computer science, pursue AI research, and hopefully do a PhD someday. But lately, I've been feeling increasingly demotivated.

The problem is that I rely on AI to learn almost everything. Whenever I have a question, I ask GPT. Whenever I don't understand a concept, I ask AI to explain it. And the more I learn this way, the more I wonder: What's the point of learning anything when AI will always know more than I ever could?

Even the most basic AI models seem to possess more knowledge than I could acquire in a lifetime. And with new models becoming increasingly capable, I keep wondering whether the knowledge I'm working so hard to gain will even matter in the future.

With GPT-6, Claude Opus 5.5, Gemini 4, and other models competing to become more capable, it feels like the gap between human intelligence and AI capabilities will only continue to grow.

I want to understand the mathematics behind AI, learn physics, become a better programmer, and contribute to actual research. But sometimes I question why I'm putting in the effort when AI can explain concepts faster, write code better, and potentially solve problems that I might spend years learning to solve myself.

And even when I genuinely want to learn, I'm confused about what I should prioritize learning and whether any of it will remain valuable by the time I become proficient.

I'm not necessarily saying that learning is useless. I genuinely love the idea of understanding how things work. But I'm struggling to reconcile that curiosity with the feeling that AI might eventually outperform me at almost everything I want to become good at.

For those of you studying computer science, mathematics, physics, or AI, how do you deal with this feeling? How do you stay motivated to learn when AI is advancing so rapidly? Do you think deep technical knowledge will still matter for people pursuing AI research and PhDs, or should we be approaching learning differently now?

Academics IWTL how to improve my English skills

IWTL how to improve my speaking and writing skills to be exact. I'vs just gotten my IELTS results with 7 on writing and 7.5 on speaking, but other than just stuck with improving by studying for the test, I want to just improve my overall abilities in those skills.

For writing, I've been writing my journal in English so far, I'm not sure if it helps. I'm also trying to improve my vocabs along the way.

For speaking, I've been using a website practicing execlusively for IELTS. They ask us IELTS speaking questions, we answer it and they grade us based on our performance. I think this might not be the best option in the long run because I think it is kind of restrictive, so sometimes I do shadowing (watching/listening to English videos and repeat what the speaker says to get their nuace and pronunciation).

At school, we are only taught about grammar, no writing essays or speaking, or even listening at all. 12 years learning English at school in my country just does not bring any result except for tests, so that's kinda out of question.

But overall, I feel like what I'm doing is not helping me with anything at all. Do you have any better recommendations?

Personal Skills IWTL how to be an independent an adult

I don't mean stuff like cooking, cleaning, doing laundry because I can handle all that. it's everything else that's the issue. I don't know how to take public transport, I don't know how to withdraw money from an ATM, I don't know how to talk or even mingle with people. My social skills are similarly underdeveloped. It would be less embarrassing if I was freshly a young adult but I'm 23 now and I still lack so much awareness. I was very sheltered by my upbringing and being the youngest child, I was also very coddled. there's a lot I didn't have to do because my older siblings always handled it. Now I'm in a situation where I need to step up for myself and I'm learning just how inadequate I am. How do I start adulting and become an independent, well adjusted person?

Misc IWTL how to fix my sleeping habits

Basically, I'm having trouble staying awake during the day and sleeping at night and it's been like this for years.

Here's my daily struggle: wake up for work after 10+ alarms, hoping one of em actually does the job (I've slept through all of them before). Get to work, eat breakfast, then work about 3 hours. Luckily my job has spots where I can take breaks or get stuff together to prepare for the next few hours of hard work.

If I'm busy that day, I prepare for avout 10-20 minutes before working another 2 hours. If not, I nap. Then I have lunch.

After lunch can also be a toss-up but if I'm busy, I work. If I got most my stuff done early, I could take an hour or two nap without anyone noticing and have done so in the past.

Then once I get home I almost always fall asleep. Sometimes it's an hour nap from 5-6 pm, sometimes I'll wake up at 10 pm confused about why none of my alarms woke me up (I've learned to set more alarms between 5:30-10 pm just in case I sleep too much).

If I slept too late, I rush to eat take a shower, then try to force myself to sleep. If not, I can actually do stuff and enjoy my time at home before I go to bed at 10 pm (I tried to make this my normal bedtime).

But there's an even bigger problem. It doesn't matter if I took a nap at 5-6 pm or 5-10 pm, it's always a coin flip whether I sleep til 7 am or wake up at 2 am and struggle to sleep again.

I've slept til 10, showered and ate, then slept soundly until 7 pm before. I've also woken up at 2 am a instead.

I've napped til 6, gone to bed normally at 10, then slept til 7 pm like I want. But I've also woken up at 2 am and struggled to get any sleep that night.

So to recap, some days I'll nap for 2-3 hours at work and others I might get 30 minutes. Some days I'll nap an hour at home and then get 9 more hours of sleep, other nights I only get 4 hours.

I've tried tracking these patterns but haven't found any rhyme or reason still. It's like my body just keeps flipping coins to determine if it's tired or not when I get any sort of free time (plenty of times I fall asleep involuntarily when I'm trying to work at my desk).

Anybody know what I could do to stop falling asleep so much?
