I'm seriously struggling with this, it takes me a whole day to study 1-2 lectures. I am able to understand what I'm studying but I don't understand why it takes me soo long. I do active recall with notes I wrote it in my own words. Any tips? I really need a more efficient way or atleast reduce the time. Also I've been dealing with this same issue while making notes, it takes me SO long. I think I have this fear that I have to have everything remembered/understood right away before moving on. hi yall i have major exams in like less than a week but im behind my practices but i cant bring myself to study… i know my content and everything so it‘s not so bad but i cant bring myself to pracitce to cut off loose ends. ever since i got my mock exam results a month ago i havent been able to study properly because i didnt get the score i want. i think im slightly burnt out but i dont know what to do. every night i cant go to sleep because i feel guilty that i didnt study much and whenever i start trying yo do work i cant focus and then i get really tired. what should i do? i tried changing environments, drinking coffee, washing my face getting rid of distractions etc but i still cant do work. im so tired of this how can i properly make myself study?

I have been trying to make my desk a bit more comfortable and productive, but I don't want to waste money on random accessories that just look nice but have no point in them.

I keep seeing things like desk mats, monitor stands, little timers, book holders, and other study desk gadgets. Some seem to be useful, but others feel like things I'd buy and forget about after a week.

So I'm curious, has anyone bought a desk accessory they originally thought was unnecessary, but it actually made studying easier or helped them focus better?

I'd love some recommendations, especially affordable things that made a clear/noticable difference. What would you genuinely buy again?

I failed in 12th last year, that's why I am repeating the year. This year also it is the same, the whole year is about to end but I have not studied anything.

I have been an exceptional student for most of my life but this year decided to work even harder going to cram school and all I was way ahead in maths but when the day of the exam came I failed horribly. I don't want to study no more I was seriously considering not finishing the exams at all I even forgot to write my name on the maths exam.

I was a top academic student from the first grade, and everyone told me I was naturally so good at things that I could do anything in life. Students used to elect me as class monitor and head boy of the school. Even the principal wanted me to write rules for student discipline and other stuff, but I was so lazy that I did not want to do those things, be the head of the students, or keep an eye on them, as I felt it was cringe at the time.

Main thing is:

For exams, I would barely study for some days and still get top marks. I even got 99% in my board exams with bare study.

I have my exams in 18 days, but I haven't studied anything yet, and there’s a lot of syllabus to cover. And it’s certain that whoever you are, you have to study. But I don’t take it seriously. The fact is, I just can’t study.

I watch phone and watch some shit TV show all day and then discuss about it. I have lost my dedication. I can’t study at all.

Because my girl left me [she didn’t cheat], but she parted ways with me [after 5 years of relationship].

well when i was 15[F] i made a mistake of talking to my cousin brother online but my typical indian family found out about it, and sham.d me so much that i still have n!ghtmare about it and i completely stopped studying and tried to distract myself with watching reels daily. its been more than 2 years but i am unable to forget the taunts they said.

i am [18F] on oct 1, they found a note in my home in which 'i love you, and my nickname' in it , i am still pretty sure my causin sis (chaha ki ldki) wrote it even though she is refusing, as i only go to library and i talk to no one, so i am sure this note was written by her and no outsider can come into my home and put that note on my home dustbin

so due to this, my elder bro checked my phone and found out i was playing online games with many girls and boys, and our conversation started on insta as well. so they read all the chats and scolded me again that why i am playing with boys, why am i talking with boys, are they from my library, etc. and said so many harsh words i am unable to forget.

now i know the only solution for me is to study well and get into a collage asap and i am a dropper. but as i pick up my book to study or watch a video lecture - all their taunts come into my head and i get extremly disturbed. i am unable to study even though i want to. i am tired of all the bad dreams i am getting. i really wanna study but i guess i will be stopped from going to library as well

my class isn’t the brightest, me included. but there’s this one student who keeps getting scores like 18/20, 19.4/20, and sometimes, 20/20.

they study a lot, practically the whole day, since they enjoy the act of studying itself.

how can one compete with that? would i have to do the same? would i have to change studying methods? what are the best studying methods?

hey-hey all! i'm a senior in highschool with some brand new resolve on studying

ever since lockdown happened, i just decided to go through cheating because it seemed like the easiest thing to do, but recently i have some new resolve to at least attempt and try my hardest to improve and maybe start doing my schoolwork the proper way

the main question is : how would someone go about like... properly studying and avoiding overwhelming myself with the sheer prospect of school?

it already feels like im falling behind so much despite school having started for me just a few days ago, but i dont want to demoralize myself and fall back onto old habits

any tips/tricks, or just general encouragement or information

i go to online school still - so its going to be a ton of motivation and discipline in order to actually focus on doing my work daily and such, but i hope i can stick to it, but im just worried that the way im doing it is actually slower, or my brain is just so used to doing work the easy way that anytime i properly attempt to give time and effort to work, my brain overloads

Am i cooked i usually do study the night before but i procrastinated too hard this time. Any tips to js get the information to stay in my head until the exam is over. I am panickingggg.

In high school, I was an extremely good student. I spent hours studying for exams, worked a couple of jobs to start saving money (at one point working 3 jobs during my junior year), and always pretty independent and doing well. I feel like after I graduated, I just finally got a sense of freedom and relaxation because I was working so hard during those four years.

Now that I'm starting university, I feel like I can't bring myself to focus and work the same way I used to. Before, I was able to study for extremely long hours, I'm talking from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM (with breaks, of course), but now I just can't even get myself to open my calendar and to do lists. I get distracted thinking about other things (like my hobbies rather than academics).

I really just think that I felt so burnt out throughout high school, that after being able to relax over the summer I didn't want to go back to that feeling of doing work for so long. I don't know how I can recover from this burn out or how I can build back the discipline I had back then to study.

I am currently in grad school (pharmacy to be exact) and I spend so much studying. I do the teaching method, flash cards , practice questions, write notes everything. Despite all this I can barely get a B- on an exam (if i’m lucky). I’m starting to get insecure because everyone around me does so well but I am just not despite my effort. Can anyone tell me what i’m doing wrong or maybe it’s just a me issue.. i do have testing anxiety but I thought I had some good methods behind it.

For years my "study guide" was a neat copy of my notes. It looked productive and I remembered almost nothing. What changed it was making the guide something I could test myself with:

1. Find out what's on the test (syllabus, review sheet, old quizzes).

2. Write the 3–6 big ideas first, usually the chapter headings.

3. Add details in your own words, not the textbook's.

4. Turn every section into questions, with the answers somewhere you can hide them.

5. Squeeze the whole unit onto one page: big ideas, tricky terms, likely questions.

6. Test yourself on 3 different days and review what you missed.

Steps 4 and 6 are where the learning happens. The writing is just setup.

Full disclosure: steps 2–4 took me hours, so I built a free tool (Cramsmith) that drafts the guide and practice questions from pasted notes or a PDF. I still do steps 5 and 6 by hand, because that's the part that actually works. Happy to share the link if anyone wants it, but the method works fine on paper too.

What does your study guide process look like?

Hello! It's my first year in uni and I'm incredibly stressed out already. I have constant nausea and no appetite; my heart is always beating fast and it's hard to sleep. I have even had to MISS class because I couldn't stop shaking and I just couldn't go like that.

I worry so much about bad results and I fear teacher disapproval and being worse than my peers that it's seriously affecting my health. I don't know how to "take it easy", and no this doesn't even help me keep up and study more. I'm just more distracted, more tired and paranoid all day. I see all the work I have to do and I just get nervous and worry so much about not being able to do it all on time. I also have problems concentrating by default so I even find it hard to pay attention in class. It feels like there's a void in my chest and stomach constantly.

Anyone with similar experiences?

im a dull student who get average grades. Most classes i attend are to make notes only. I usually don't understand the things they teach in class(in class,after going home when i study.thats when i truly understand).but yesterday in class.not only did i understand wt they taught,i also answered the questions put up by teachers and asked a few interesting doubts. i feel very happy now. My sense of self worth is back. Im worthy again!!!!!!!
