I want a start a dinosaur club but I've been said ''no one is intrested''? so is it worth giving a try?

I have ideas for movie days, donation fund events (which I want to do, though I have no clue how), discussions, debates, and even going to museums (which is the hardest thing with funding and getting people). I'm a film major, and the only history clubs are medieval and archaeology. I don't have a lot of friends, and there is no one I know who has the same passions. I have not pitched yet. I know starting a club is mostly about running a social media account, paperwork, club fairs, and petitions.

i want to introduce people to this amazing world, show them what it means. Dinosaurs have influenced our culture, our science, in so many ways, to be able to explore that even a little would be fantastic.

i am no expert on smart science, just a film guy

Question/Help Please help me, I'm cooked 😭. Only 2 days left to complete my research, and I need 40 responses 🥺. It will only take your 3 minutes

Dear everyone !

I’m collecting responses for my EPQ research on how AI can recognise emotional distress in teenagers and support those who may be struggling. Please, only adolescents respond.

I’d be grateful if you could spare 3–4 minutes to complete. You don’t need prior experience using AI for emotional support — your opinions matter too!

https://forms.gle/MLCo2K1E6QDUFs7u5

Your responses would mean a lot and would contribute to my research. Thank you for your time and support!

Can someone tell if this position paper is up to the mark, as it is my first mun?

I have attached my position papers data, so pls tell how it sounds and stuff pls.

In an interconnected global economy, can the consequences of sanctions truly be confined to their intended targets? Unilateral sanctions and financial restrictions are used for foreign policy, yet their effects extends beyond the countries they target, disrupting trade, financial transactions, and the supply chains. The G20's task is to keep sanctions effective without putting global economic stability at risk.

Australia applies both UN Security Council sanctions and its own sanctions, under domestic law. The Autonomous Sanctions Act 2011 is the legal basis for the latter. According to the Australian Sanctions Office's 2025 Annual Report, Australia imposed 428 new autonomous sanctions in 2025. We also issued three sanctions covering 200 vessels linked to Russia's so-called shadow fleet. Together with partner countries, we helped lower the price cap on Russian crude oil to US$47.60 per barrel in 2025. The aim was to cut into Russia's oil revenue without disrupting global oil supply.

The spillovers are real, and they show why countries need to work together. In July 2022, World Bank researchers found that export restrictions pushed up the prices of wheat, rice and soybean oil by roughly 9% or more. The World Bank also reported that in 2022, close to 60% of oil-importing, emerging and developing economies saw the price of oil rise in their own currencies. These findings are economic shocks and trade restrictions also, not sanctions only. Even so, they show how quickly the problum hits the vulnerable economies. The scale of the system matters too: the Bank for International Settlements reported average daily foreign exchange turnover of about US$9.6 trillion in April 2025, so even small disruptions financial flows can travel far.

To address this, Australia proposes that the G20 to develop a framework for assessing the economic impact of sanctions, both before they are introduced and after. Member states should share information on problems they see in trade, banking and supply chains, without compromising national security. We also propose clear guidelines for banks and companies, so that legitimate and lawful business isn't caught up in sanctions by mistake.

In conclusion, Australia believes international cooperation is the best way to limit the unintended economic effects of unilateral sanctions. By communicating better, strengthening financial stability and protecting humanitarian needs, the G20 can make sure sanctions reach their goals without putting needless pressure on vulnerable economies. We encourage all member states to work toward an approach that is fair, responsible and balanced, and that supports both international security and global economic stability.

I built a study planner that shows planned vs actual study time

Thumbnail

One thing I've noticed about planning study sessions is that it's easy to write down "study for 2 hours" and feel like you've planned a productive day.

But at the end of the day, did you actually study for those 2 hours? Did the topic take longer than expected? Did you move it to tomorrow? And does that keep happening every week?

That was part of the reason I started building a planner for myself a few months ago.

It's called Personal Planner, and the main idea is pretty simple: I wanted to keep track of what I planned, what I actually did, and what I could learn from it later.

Here's how it works:

  • Hour-by-hour planning: You can create study blocks on a timeline, drag them around, resize them and plan your day without juggling multiple lists.
  • Planned vs actual time: Start a timer for a study session, and the app keeps the actual time separately from what you originally planned. So if a 90-minute session takes 2 hours, you can see that.
  • Daily and weekly reviews: Look back at what you completed, what got postponed and why. You can add notes rather than just marking everything done or missed.
  • Consistency tracking: There's a year-long GitHub-style heatmap that helps you see your routine over time.
  • Experiments: This is one of my favourite parts. Say you want to try studying for 60 minutes every weekday for a month. You can set that as an experiment, tag your study sessions, and see how much you actually did against your target.
  • Inbox: Somewhere to keep assignments, ideas or topics you want to work on later without forcing everything into today's schedule.

The app works offline, so you don't need a constant internet connection just to plan or track your sessions.

It's free, with no subscription or locked features. I initially built it for myself, but I thought it might also be useful to students who time-block their days or struggle to stay consistent.

It's available on Android, and I've also been building it for desktop.

GitHub source code: https://github.com/Karthikshabari/PersonalPlanner

Download: https://github.com/Karthikshabari/PersonalPlanner/releases/tag/v1.1

I'll attach a short demo showing how the Day view and timer work.

I'm curious: when you plan a study session, do you normally track how long it actually takes, or do you just move on once it's done?

I'd love to hear how other people handle that.

Question/Help Should I say something about this teacher

For contexte my first language is french but really not good at it. This automne I am redoing my second class in french because I failed the first time during winter. When a essay is giving in my school 30% can be remouved from your originale grade for syntaxe and gramatical mistakes and I always hit that max. That mean that even if my way of writing a explication essay is perfect, I will recive the note of 70% and ofcourse that is never the case.

So yeah I have difficulties in writing and this session I have a teacher who is very hard to understand. She repeats every word that are writen without explaining it trully. If I ask a question she ussually just says "I have already answed that" or "I'm not repeating my self". (This is the first time I have asked her that question)

She is also very condescending, almost as if she insultes me and every other student for that matter saying things like "it evident", "it obvious", "I don't understand why you can't just lisen" or "why you can't undertsand". It makes me feel so dumb like I'm the problem.

Once someone behind me asked her to explain a critiria cause we were supposed to find a citation that it was used in. She said "I'm sure someone else in classe will have the answer" and then left. She didn't answer the question, we still don't know what we are looking for.

What she teaches is also very diffrent from other theachers, the structure is very confusing that I couldn't even start to explain it. When I did a explication essay last year it was very clear and the core of the texte was the same every time I stared a paragraphe.

Principale idea 1

Secondaire idea 1

Citation

Deduction

Explination

Secondaire idea 2

Citation

déduction (of the figure of speach)

Explication

Small conclusion

That's the jist of it.

Every teacher in my school teaches it that way, every student I have talk to who have pass this class have seen it that way, witch means that if I have a question only she can answer. I asked the students around me, who are with me in this class but they either barely understand it them selfs or not at all and their for can't help me with it.

She hasn't even given us a exemple of what kind of texte it's supposed to look like. She gave us a very quick resume for about 4 class and that is it. Also she wanted us to write what we thought had to be writen, has homework. The thing is, if you forget your homework you can't come into class until you have finished it. I first I didn't complete it because I really didn't understand it and she said me out. I ended up writing something just so I could come back in class but by the time I arrived she had already been over it and I missed the explination.

I asked her if I could spend time with her to clear certain concept, after all what had seen before and what I am seeing not are completely diffrent and I am really lost. She said "It would be unfair to others if I take time with you to answer your question. If you have a question it will have to be in classe or during break."

She also did something really weird. In the text she wants use to incorpurate 2 real word event with details like names and dates. These 2 éléments need to be diffrent and in corrélation with either our principale idea or Secondary idea. The dates she wants us to uses were given to use 1h before the teste started and then we could only use them for one hours at the begining of the essay after they are gone. So yeah we have to write the texte before we ever do a plan about what to write. If our text is not aligned with elements we chose tough luke you loose all your points.

Also, here is the cherry on top: I have a exam that is worth 30% of my grade in 2 days about that way of writing and she has long since refused to answer any question about that exam because "it's a exam". All question regarding how to write her text is off-limite; She won't answer. There are 4 exams in total with her this year; No extra, no bonus, no nothing. There are 2 oral présentation and 2 essays, worth 10 and 20% and 30 and 40% respectivly.

I talked to a other teacher about my difficulties and she said I might need to go see the student association, witch I interpreted as puting a complaint. She ended by saying "I hope you know this (not understanding) isn't your fault" When she said that I stared to doubt it.

Perhaps it is my fault, maybe I really am just a slow learner or maybe if had listened more I wouldn't be in this mess. I'm thinking I may be overreacting that I might have just misunderstood something or jumped to conclusion in some way.

Right now my conclusion is that she is not a good teacher. She does not show care for her student, almost has if she doesn't want to see them succede. She explains things really badly. She shows thing that should not be the regular program, blocking all option to asking for help outside. She is condescending to all her students. She almost completely refuses to answer question and when she does she repeats the same thing.

So, should I report her? If not, does anyone have any idea as to who I could ask for help cause even Google and AIs can't help me. They uses prior knowledge to give answer but this is so unique that it seems their are no exemple or explenation any where. All I found were how to write a text like I did last time I had this class. Also if anyone has ideas on how I can approche her to ask question with actual answers, cause she seems to be the only one who can really answer them. It her way or the highway with her.

P.S.: I hate writing. As much as I have difficulties in writing in french I'm also not that good in english. Right now I'm way too lazy to correct my mistakes so I'm sorry but I'm sure it is filled. My french autocorrector isn't helping.

Hi all,

I urgently need to find these textbooks for my university classes. I don’t have enough money to buy them so I am resorting to pirating them. I’ve scoured the internet and have checked Anna’s archive, z library, etc. So far, zero luck. If anyone could please source these textbooks I’d appreciate from the BOTTOM OF MY HEART!

Question/Help Seeking professional perspectives on Chest X-ray acquisition and interpretation challenges

Hello everyone!
I'm an engineering undergraduate student working on an academic PBL study on the practical challenges of Chest X-ray analysis and acquisition.
Prior to deciding on a technical solution to the problem, we would like to gather insights from experts involved with Chest X-ray (CXR) to understand the challenges in the process of CXR.
It would be wonderful if you can help us by telling us about:
* What makes CXR challenging to acquire, evaluate, or interpret?
* Any common issues faced with regards to the quality of images, positioning, subtle findings, etc.?
* What kind of challenges do you face with reporting time, workload or decision-making?
* If you have experience with using AI-assisted software, what kind of limitations have you experienced?
If you would like to share any insight with us (even if it's one thought about the challenges that you regularly face), please post a comment down below or reach out to me if you would like to participate in a quick 2-min academic survey!

(Please note that participation is entirely optional and no information related to patient confidentiality is being asked.)

Thank you!

i hate r/professors

saw a post earlier made on r/professors where one student had a seizure and she was confused why the rest of the class just sat and watched (five students helped the kid). they got mad at me in the comments because i said it's incredibly weird to post about a situation like this.

i'm sure the kid is already embarrassed from having a seizure in class, but to get on here AS A PROFESSOR and make a post talking about it is crazy. not only are you posting about something very serious, it's also incredibly rude to post about another students business.

as someone who is disabled, i couldn't imagine clicking onto reddit and seeing a post like that. i would already be embarrassed, and having my professor post about that would sent me into a full blown meltdown.

another point: that sub is extremely negative. i lurk in there time to time just to get inside info on professors, but all they do is talk negatively about all there students. they never have anything nice to say, and if they do, the post gets swallowed by the negative.
