The r/Sheffield Classifieds - Rooms, Flats, Tickets, Buy/Sell, etc

By far the biggest thing we remove here is people trying to find or let rooms, sell tickets, and other bits and bobs.

But likely not enough to survive on its own as a dedicated sub. So we'll carve out this space here. Please use it to list anything you're interested in, or are trying to part with.

And be mindful of who you give your personal details out to! We'll not be providing escrow or verification!

Lost Sheffield, help me find my childhood pen pal, Andrew Thomas! ✉️🇬🇧

Hello, Sheffield! I have a tiny piece of 2010 that I’d love to reconnect with.
Back when I was in 10 in India, I received a handwritten exchange letter from a boy named Andrew Thomas, who attended Hunter’s Bar Junior School in Sheffield. I’m now 25, and somehow, after all these years, I still have his letter tucked away. 🥹
I was going through it recently, and reading it felt like opening a little time capsule. There was Andrew, telling me about his blue eyes, light brown hair, playing video games, how it was always raining in Sheffield, and how they sometimes got snow. He even asked me about the weather in India!
My personal favourite part? He told me Prince William was getting married to Kate Middleton soon, and that if they were meant to be at school that day, they’d have a Royal Bank Holiday. 😂👑
He also told me about Halloween, dressing up in scary costumes, knocking on doors and collecting sweets. All these tiny details about his everyday life in a place I’d never been made the world feel a little smaller back then.
And now it’s 2026. William and Kate have been married for 15 years, I’ve grown up, and Andrew has probably lived an entire lifetime of adventures since writing that letter. Meanwhile, I still have this little piece of our childhood.
Andrew, if you’re out there, or if anyone who knew him happens to see this, I’d absolutely love to reconnect! I’d love to know what became of the little boy who wrote me this letter and whether he remembers exchanging letters with someone in India.
No dramatic reunion expectations, no pressure — just a little curiosity, a lot of nostalgia, and a genuine wish to say hello after all these years.
If you went to Hunter’s Bar Junior School around 2010, or remember an international letter-exchange programme from that time, please do help me out!
Let’s see if the internet can do something a little more wholesome than usual. 🥹❤️

P.S. Andrew, if you ever happen to read this: I still have your letter. I think that’s pretty cool.

Question Mongols MC

On a couple of occasions recently, I have noticed a fairly large group of guys (10+) in and around Mojo on Holly St. on a Friday evening wearing Mongols patches.

They were just having a quiet drink tbh and not causing any commotion, but I know that as an organisation, they can have a bit of a reputation.

Anyone else seem them about ?

I was thinking I might be right be able to drive up pretty close and drop off but then just wondering about traffic. Would it be best to drop off at centertainment or imagine that place gets quite busy too or perhaps KFC car park or something nearby? Thanks

Image Following recent discussions about making friends I did a Sheffield Socials poll.

I did a poll of the 88 members of the Sheffield Socials’ WhatsApp group to see if people had “made a friend” or not through the monthly meet-ups. Mainly because people say how difficult it is as an adult to make friends and for my own curiosity to see if the group was working as intended. Results above.

Question royal plaza off west st...

im in the process of getting an apartment to rent in the royal plaza, it faces inwards to the private green. has anyone lived there or know of someone who does to let me know if its a mistake ? I'm aware west can be noisy over the weekend evenings, so thankfully, the apartment doesn't directly face there. but there's a 1* review on Google that drags the whole building through the coals. can anyone shed any light to the realities of being there? thanks.

Sheffield Draft petition against amplified noise in city centre - any feedback ?

Time for another petition to the council - the last one asked them to recognise the impacts of the noise, which they haven't really done. This one is suggesting a particular fix that they don't seem to be seriously considering.

Note that the moor is the council's responsibility, it's only the shops that are private property.

Control excessive amplified noise in our city centre
Apply a Public Spaces Protection Order to control the use of battery-powered speakers driving people away from our city centre, modelled on the successful programmes in Leicester and Birmingham.

Our previous petition asked the council to recognise the impact of the extreme levels of noise on the Moor. The council's proposed mitigation of a voluntary agreement is insufficient to deal with this issue. This includes awful behaviour that would not be touched by a voluntary agreement, such as:

- Singing at high volume into the early morning through amplifiers, keeping nearby residents awake
-The use of amplifiers to engage in hate speech, both generally and to target passing individuals. This not only disrupts a vital commerce centre, it also makes citizens feel unsafe in their own city. The use of amplification increases the problem significantly as it enables speakers to call wide attention to specific passers-by, which can be reasonably be seen as putting their safety at risk
- Multiple busker and preacher soundsystems placed all down the moor competing with each other - simply asking them to move on would just cause them to circulate
- An individual screaming with antagonistic speech at high volume in the middle of a family classic car event on the moor

Despite all the investment on grey to green and other initiatives, this makes our city centre less pleasant, driving visitors and shoppers away.

Leicester's successful PSPO model would work very well for Sheffield - allowing professional buskers to continue their trade for the enrichment of the city centre, at agreed volumes via a simple application process. Preachers can continue their work too, just not amplified outside people's homes or places of work.

Birmingham's model should also be considered, but we feel is perhaps too draconian in banning all use of musical instruments, not just amplification.

We understand the council is concerned about the injunction against Liverpool City Council, but that case happened 14 years ago, with different aims, and before the introduction of PSPOs.

We urge the council to take this seriously. With Sheffield now happily nominated for City of Culture this becomes even more urgent to find a solution that allows us to share our music and beliefs without impinging on anyone's rights through excessive noise.

Event For the local synth-heads - New Beat/Italo Disco/EBM club night tomorrow (24th) at Plot22🪩

Hello r/Sheffield pals! Tomorrow we are putting on our little discotheque down at Plot22 on Exchange Street. 10pm - 2am, playing an eclectic mix of New Beat, Italo, Nu-Disco, EBM, Acid and Electro.

We are ‘club.bodywork’ on Instagram for anyone who fancies hearing more about what we do, and tickets are on Fatsoma (cheaper) or on the door (ten English pounds).

Come down for a a boogie (especially if you’re here for Cabaret Voltaire and want kick things off early!) - plus side is also that the 2am finish magically turns back into 1am thanks to the clocks going back, so great for those of us who need our kip (me)

Music Music pubs

Getting older. Love the Joy Division. New Order and later indie rock like Pumpkins, early Radiohead and Pulp. Easy going I like Def Leppard and general rock too. Honestly I generally think I am easy going.

Which pubs though?

So many pubs play advertisement music now. Or just noise.

So......

Question Automatic driving lessons for nervous driver

Hi everyone, I have a license but haven’t driven in 20 years but am thinking of booking some refresher lessons but does anyone have any recommendations for automatic instructors? I hated learning to drive and the thought of getting behind the wheel makes me very anxious but I don’t think I can put it off anymore. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Question GP Surgery Recommendations? Based in S3

Hiya, I'm registered at UHS but I'm honestly so fed up with them constantly sending me to the walk-in centre despite already telling them in my appointment request form that I ALREADY WENT TO THE WALK IN.

I have been feeling so ill lately and just want to be properly seen. Are there any recommended GP surgeries for someone living around S3? I don't mind if it's out of my catchment area.

Opinion amplified preaching and hymn singing

I’m so sorry to add to the mountain of posts about this but I’m genuinely at my wits end. I’m a resident in the city centre and whilst I completely understand that that comes with noise (general public, events, clubs and music) this is ridiculous. I don’t remember a day in the past year where I haven’t heard the preachers on the moor screaming repetitively and blasting hymns through their speakers on TikTok live.

Normally I can put my headphones on for the duration (over 5 hours sometimes) and drown it out, but it woke me up from a nap tonight because it was so loud I genuinely thought it was some football stadium level of noise. They’ve been repetitively singing the same hymns over and over again with their speaker turned up so loud that I don’t understand how this is allowed?

I understand how important free speech is, but this is daily. It’s almost guaranteed to go on until 9pm every night until they move to another spot. The council seem to do absolutely nothing and the police can’t do anything because it’s the councils responsibility. I don’t know what’s meant to be done and yes some noise is obviously to be expected for residents that live in the centre but how is this allowed? There’s nothing we can do about it either which is probably the most frustrating part, every route seems to be a dead end and these people are left to rant and rave and scream at the public every single day for hours.

I genuinely would not have an issue if they didn’t use the huge speakers and microphones-it’s so loud it’s unbelievable.
