whats-on-wednesday "What's on?" Wednesday - October 14, 2026
"What's on?" Wednesday
Our weekly post where people can highlight local events or interesting things that are coming up in the next week. It doesn't have to be your event, but this is a place where reasonable exceptions to our self-promotion rules are allowed. Please check whether the event you're posting about is already mentioned. If you're adding your own event, please try to answer any questions people may have in the comments.
You can also ask questions if you're looking for something to do, e.g. "Does anyone know of a good pub quiz in the centre on Thursday?"
"What's on?" rules:
- Leeds based events only
- Must be taking place in the next 7 days (next Wednesday included)
- Posts highlighting an event should include:
- Event name
- Date and time
- Location
- Price(s) (if applicable)
- A description of the event and a relevant link is recommended but not required
The rules may evolve over time as we find out how things work. Please send any feedback to the mod team.

self-promo-sunday Self-promotion Sunday - October 10, 2026
This weekly thread is an opportunity for locally based small businesses / individuals / bands etc. to let your fellow redditors know what you're about and what you have to offer.
You're welcome to link to your website / store-front / social media, but primarily you should be using your comment to engage with the community here as part of the community. Part of that is taking the time to respond to questions people may ask, please keep that in mind.
The existing subreddit rules still apply, and low-effort comments will be removed (e.g. Links with little to no text).
If you have any thoughts or feedback please message the mods.

news Leeds Baby Bank was broken into last night
Had all their tech stuff stolen and the property damaged. Takes a certain kind of low life to steal from a charity for newborn babies.
They're good guys, do alot of good around the city, not sure if I'm allowed to link to their GoFundMe here (it's on their socials), but go chuck them a few quid if you can to get them up and running as soon as possible.
Edit: Thanks all for being lovely and donating! They're smashing their targets and hopefully it will be reminding them of what a bunch of lovely people are in Leeds

food/drink Best coeliac/gluten free restaurants and takeaways in Leeds.
I'm looking for recommendations for good coeliac/gluten free restaurants and takeaways in Leeds.
I'd personally give a shout out to Pizza Punks. Their GF options are great, the quality of their GF pizzas is the best we've found so far, and what's especially helpful is that when ordering from them on sites like Deliveroo, you can select GF pizzas, but also check a box to indicate the reason (coeliac).
Another shout out for Zucco in Meanwood. We told our server my wife was coeliac and they must have shared that with the rest of the team because every other server already knew when they spoke to us. Again, great options for GF (most options just swapped the regular pasta for GF pasta), food was excellent and the service was really welcoming.

I can't find a flair that fits Olto Fitness Leeds Wellinton Place. Thoughts on it?
Hi. I recently came across Olto Fitness, a gym that is due to open in Wellington Place in December.
It looks like a very complete gym with coaching available, classes, sauna, and lots of equipment. Their founders Membership starts at £84ppm, although I read in one of their comments that they’ll do a gym access only fee of £64 ppm. Quite expensive, but I’m assuming the people around the area will be able to afford it.
Any thoughts on this new place? I wonder if it’s going to last, because it seems like the city centre fitness businesses rarely make it (e.g., snap fitness gym, tribe, outskulpted pilates, yogakula vq, reset by form).
I might give it a try despite it being pricey, but just wanted to hear your thoughts on it.
Thanks!

question Fun union clubs in leede
Hi, does anyone know of any genuinely friendly rugby union clubs open to all abilities. I am 19, tall big guy, and want to get to playing union. I have been brought up around the sport, in fact as soon as i was born i got given a tiny plush rugby ball from my grandfather, and i can hold my own and was taught the basics from an extremely young age. Im just not the fittest nor have i ever actually played for a club and am a bit hazy on a few rules.

question is motorbike theft still common in Leeds?
Is bike theft still a thing in Leeds? or is it dropping down with all the electric bicycles and surrons becoming more popular?
I'm thinking about buying 125cc scooter for commuting in warmer months and Sunday joyrides, but don't want it to get robbed/stolen. I'd keep it in my garage.

academic Leeds Docks/River Aire Questionnaire for my research
Hi guys, I am currently a third year university student studying Product Design (BA) at Leeds Beckett University. For my first module this year we are looking into the Creative Conscience Awards Competition, where I have chosen to look further into the theme of how I can improve the nature preservation and biodiversity around the Leeds Docks and the River Aire close to the Docks.
I have put together a questionnaire in order to get a better understanding on what people think of the nature preservation and biodiversity in and around the Leeds Docks and I would greatly appreciate it if I could get a few responses. All responses are anonymised unless you provide your name and email address yourself (which isn't necessary).
There is more information provided at the beginning of the form.
Thanks again,
Joe

Looking for a nice but not mega fancy restaurant that does decent options for non meat eaters in or near the city center.

question-serious Where can I get a suit made similar to this ?
galleryI came across this suit and absolutely fell in love with it and the concealed double breasted look.
Unfortunately the total cost is around £1300 which is way too far out my budget.
I’m hoping to find something around £500-700. The only similar one I have seen is at Casely-Hayford, costing around £1500.
I did enquire at edit suit co and michelsberg however they can’t make this. I’m happy with any tailors in West Yorkshire that could potentially make this
Any help would be appreciated cheers!

transport Recommendation for tuning garage
Hi, can anybody recommend a garage for modding a couple of performance parts and a remap?
I’m not after anything too out of the ordinary so would imagine most will have the capability to do it.
I’ll be bring parts so just need the skills and labour.

Hi! Me and my partner have just had an offer accepted on a house which we're ecstatic about and wondering if anyone recommends any solicitors? Trying not to get ripped off when it's already expensive enough as it is. Thanks!
