Comprehensive list of gay bars/LGBT venues in Greater Manchester
I have compiled the following list of gay/LGBT+ bars/clubs/venues/businesses* in Greater Manchester. There are several other lists online, however most are out-of-date, and they all ignore anything outside of Canal Street. This is thus the most comprehensive list currently available; I’ve added a brief description for each one (n.b. I am not affiliated with any of these venues).
If anyone has any additions/corrections, please DM me and I’ll edit as appropriate.
\Meaning any venue which caters for and markets itself towards a predominantly LGBT+ crowd, not just ‘gay-friendly’. Casual social/meet-up groups not included. Worded also to aid Google SEO.*

City Centre Best bench in the city centre
I have some free time on Sunday late morning. I’d like to sit on a quiet bench somewhere with a nice coffee and maybe a cigarette or two and just relax and enjoy my surroundings.
It ideally would be away from the chaos of town (no one suggest sitting on a market street / pic gardens bench please) but still close enough that I can walk back in when my morning is over. Any suggestions? Also any good coffee shop suggestions nearby said bench for extra gratefulness 😊

What do you think of the county of Greater Manchester?
Putting aside the specific city of Manchester, what do you think of the actual county as a whole?

Is anyone travelling from Manchester Airport to Birmingham or London on Sunday 18th October 2026?
I've got a National Express coach ticket I can no longer use and will happily give it away for free rather than to see it go to waste. Departs at 15:35 from Manchester Airport to Finchley Road station via Birmingham. Can jump on the Jubilee or Met line from there which works out better for most rather than sitting on the coach to Victoria.

One Eyed Black Cat found by canal
Found a skinny one-eyed fluffy black cat by the canal near Oxford Road station this morning. It was so skinny and bedraggled I took home to my flat round the corner as never see cats in the city and it looks in bad condition.
Going to vets to see if chipped but does anyone know anyone who’s lost a one eyed cat? (Temporarily called Jack/Jackie)

Any quiet places indoors to chill on a Sunday evening, near the Royal National College of Music?
I'm driving somebody to Manchester on a Sunday, for a concert at the Royal National College of Music. The concert is from 7PM onward. I'd love a quiet place indoors to just chill out and read a book or go on my phone. There are several great libraries around there, but unfortunately they're all closed on a Sunday. Any ideas? 🙂

Halloween for non students?
Hii, my partner and I will be in Manchester over Halloween weekend for a concert and were wondering what clubs and bars are good for non students? I understand there's always going to be some around but we'd probably feel a bit weird being the only people aged 25+ in a club full of fresh 18 year olds, so where the older crowd headed?

SUPER LOUD 📢 Metrolink announcements!
Is anyone else sick of being JUMP SCARED by the same stupid metro link announcements, (a small world problem I know but it’s just so annoying, especially in the morning)
Most mornings I arrive at my metrolink stop and patiently wait for my tram only to end up nearly jumping out of my own body at the loudspeaker announcements 😆😅
POV: me waiting at the metrolink stop at 07:23 this morning.
Me: silence enjoying life…
Metrolink: 🔊 WhEN UsInG tAp ANd GO PleASE doN’T ForGeT To ToUCH OuT! 🚨
I understand important safety information etc should be loud but when it’s the same prerecorded message everyday especially with a loud deep voice, it honestly does give me a proper jump.
I’m pretty sure it’s just rage bate at this point!!
Has anyone else experienced this? Thoughts 😆🐝

What did the Obama heckler say tonight at Coop Live?
Did anyone else see Obama this evening at Co-op live? There was a heckler at one point and I couldn’t hear what he said but Obama shut it down pretty quick! Was curious if anyone made out what the heckler said?

Can an Agency Refuse to Pay Me for a Shift I’ve Already Worked?
Hi everyone, I recently started a factory job through an employment agency, but there was some miscommunication during the registration process.
I went to work and completed a full shift. However, afterwards, the agency told me that my registration had not been completed and that I should not have gone to work.
I called the agency to clarify the situation, and they said that I had worked without receiving formal confirmation. I asked whether I would still be paid for the shift I had completed, but they said they were not sure and would need to check with the company.
Since I have already completed the shift, can they legally refuse to pay me just because my registration was incomplete or I had not received formal confirmation?
Would ACAS be the right place to seek advice in this situation? What steps should I take next?
I'm new to the UK, and this was my first job here. Unfortunately, I've run into this situation, and I'm not sure what my rights are or what I should do next. I'd really appreciate any advice.
Thank you for your help.

What's up with the meowing guy?
I keep getting videos from this guy on Instagram. He seemingly posts hundreds of times a day. Walking around in town meowing at people, complaining about the state of the country, or singing little ditties. Is it some kind of social experiment?
