The r/Sheffield Classifieds - Rooms, Flats, Tickets, Buy/Sell, etc

By far the biggest thing we remove here is people trying to find or let rooms, sell tickets, and other bits and bobs.

But likely not enough to survive on its own as a dedicated sub. So we'll carve out this space here. Please use it to list anything you're interested in, or are trying to part with.

And be mindful of who you give your personal details out to! We'll not be providing escrow or verification!

Sheffield Paying £700-£1,150 to do up their landlord's flat? What a treat!

I'm really bothered by this, it feels so predatory. Like it's even worse than free labour, they're expecting the tenants to pay the landlord for the opportunity to increase the value on a house they'll never own. Is this reportable? I really don't like the idea of some poor bastard thinking this is a good deal :(

EDIT: The listing got taken down :D Don't know if it was from the report but I hope this guy learned not to try shit again regardless.

Question Conkers and acorns

• Upvotes

Such a stupid question but does anyone know of parks or publicly accessible trees that are dropping conkers and acorns around Crystal Peaks, Hackenthorpe, Birley or Frecheville? I want to get some for kids crafts and I don't fancy buying them online if I can make a fun trip out of getting them and picking them together

Question Hathersage to Grindleford (River Derwent)

Hi everyone,
I’m a student in Sheffield planning to take the train out to the Peak District next month (November) for a solo walk. I’m looking for something relatively flat and easy-going, and I was looking at taking the train to Hathersage, walking along the River Derwent to Grindleford, and catching the train back from there.

Since I haven't done something like this before , I have a few quick questions:

  1. How muddy does this riverside path get in November? Do I absolutely need proper waterproof hiking boots, or can I get away with a solid pair of old trainers if I stick to the path?
  2. Is the route easy to follow? I know it follows the Derwent Valley Heritage Way, but I just want to make sure the signage is clear for a solo walker.
  3. Food/Drink:

How is

  1. Grindleford Station Cafe, is it still cash only?
  2. Any alternative flat routes? If the river path is prone to flooding or knee-deep mud this time of year, are there any other flat, train-accessible routes nearby that you'd recommend instead?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Sheffield Monkey Island meets threads

Hello Sheffield!

My game has been in development since 2024 and is finally approaching release! It's an epic point-and-click adventure in the vein of Simon the Sorcerer / Monkey Island, but set partly in post-apocalyptic Derbyshire. With a bit of Sheffield (bankers draft) in it too.

Brownie's Adventure: The Final Resolution on Steam

  • 10–15 hours of gameplay
  • Classic 6-verb GUI
  • Handmade 320 × 200 pixel art
  • Lots of specially recorded songs and original music (Derbyshire sheep cult church music with 3 part harmonies!)
  • At least one ski village fire reference!
  • High-fidelity sound effects and soundscapes (thank you, Jono Richards!)
  • Some choices and variation throughout your playthrough, including different endings
  • Autosave and an in-game hint system (also ships with a full walkthrough from day one)
  • A bit bigger than your average solo indie game: 80+ locations, 60+ characters and 500+ animations
  • DRM-free — copy and paste the game files onto a USB stick if that's your thing

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Thanks to the mods for allowing me to share the project - it's all made in Sheffield. Shit 2D animation reyt on yer doorstep.

Brownie

Question Any cheap or free parking spots in the city centre?

My girlfriend comes to stay a lot and it’s costing her loads to park her car whenever she does (she lives in another city). I think she paid about £30 last time she came for a couple of nights. Is there any super cheap or free parking spots in the centre that we could go to instead??

Sheffield 29M – Anyone fancy a cinema buddy? 🎬🍿

Hey everyone!

I'm 29M and looking for someone who'd be up for going to the cinema together sometime.

I enjoy watching films and thought it would be nice to meet some new people locally who share the same interest. I'm pretty easy-going, friendly and open-minded, and always enjoy getting to know new people. I don't usually have time to meet new people because of work hence this post

Horror, thriller, action, drama or something along those lines are my favourite genres but I'd be happy to watch anything.

Not looking for anything in particular beyond some good company, a nice film. Age and gender don't really matter to me, just looking for someone friendly who enjoys a trip to the cinema.

Feel free to comment or drop me a message if you're interested! 😊

Question Cleaning the windows at 5am?

I’m just been woken up at 5:30am by the sound of a vehicle outside. I looked out of my window and there’s a big platform being raised from a van. There’s a man stood on the road and another man on the platform and there’s a bunch of water dripping down onto my window from whatever they’re doing and it’s quite loud. I’m kinda furious because I’ve had about 2 hours sleep and now I can’t sleep due to this and have been woken up 😭

Does anyone have any idea wtf is going on? I googled the company and it said they’re roofing and commercial property maintenance experts and they seem to be cleaning the windows, but at 6am?! Can I make a complaint or something about this? I’m a woman and I sleep topless and I’m almost certain the guy doing it just got a glimpse of me as I went to close the curtains as they’re literally OUTSIDE MY FUCKING WINDOW AT 6am. WTF.

I’m in the UK btw and live in a block of flats.

Question Local makers of top quality gear: who do you rate?

I'm trying to buy less and buy better, and I'd rather that money stayed local.

What local makers do you rate for things that are made properly and will last years? Knives and steel are the obvious ones, but I'm also after leather goods, shoes and boots, furniture, ceramics and outdoor kit.

Not looking for gift-shop souvenirs. I want the people who make the real thing, made to last, investment pieces. Whether it's a big name or someone working out of a unit in Kelham.

Bonus points if you've owned something of theirs for years and it's still going.
