My cat has been missing from the Burley Park area since last night. Around LS4 near the train bridges and the park. She's black and white, tends to be quite shy, no collar, chipped and neutered.

Please share and reach out if you have any info

question Permit parking enforcement on a council housing estate?

• Upvotes

Has anyone had any success getting residents’ permit parking enforced on a council housing estate in Leeds? I’m referring to a permit scheme on housing-estate land, rather than a standard on-street residents’ parking zone (I understand each is enforced differently).

Parking is an ongoing problem, but from what I can tell, there seems to be very little interest in enforcing restrictions. It just seems they hope signs are a deterrent.

My understanding is that responsibility for this normally sits with Housing Leeds/the local housing office. Or is there a separate team responsible for enforcement?

question-serious Pubs in leeds

Hey, im fairly new to leeds, im looking for any community locals, backstreet boozers, estate pubs etc. I ofc know many of the city centre pubs and bars, but im looking for some more rough around the edges pubs. I know of the leeds rifleman so far that i plan to pop down to. North leeds is good but i can get to most areas easily as i am based in the city centre. So if u know any good places or literally just have a pub in the middle of your residential area lmk!

question-serious Comparing estate agents - north Leeds

I'm thinking of selling my house. I've had valuations done by several estate agents and I'm trying to decide who to go with.

It's between Manning Stainton and Northwood. Has anyone got any recommendations between the two?

food/drink Great sushi and brunch places

I'm coming to Leeds to visit my kid at uni. They've asked to go out for sushi and we're going out for lunch / brunch. Can anyone provide recommendations please for either? And for absolute clarity I'm not looking for a single place serving sushi at brunch.

Further delay to work starting on the collapsed buildings on Lower Kirkgate. Place your bets on the likelihood of the council reclaiming the nearly £700,000 it's now going to cost. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cmp8g54djz8ko

accommodation Mercer West Leeds help!

Hi guys, I just wanted to get some feedback about Mercer West in Leeds! For people who have lived there before or currently
1. How is the apartment in general?
2. Any major issues faced?
3. Are there mostly students or working adults?
4. Any ideas about the noise level between units or from the construction outside?
5. What do you like most about the apartment?

We’ve already viewed most of the other flats in town such as UNCLE, Tura, triangle yard, headline…etc but we didn’t get to see this in person.

Would be really grateful for your feedback!! Thanks!

accommodation Surveyor recommendations

Hello Leeds Redditors. Long time listener first time caller looking for help to find a surveyor in Leeds.

Bought a house a few years ago and the surveyor was fast but not thorough - missed a few problems that should have been obvious.

Had an offer accepted for a bigger home and just wondering if anyone has any decent recommendations.

Thanks!

accommodation (university) Accomodation Leeds exchange student

I'm considering going to Leeds for my exchange next semester and was wondering if anyone had information about the different residences offered at the University of Leeds?

I'm mostly looking about personal experiences and information related to the atmosphere of the different residences! I've noticed that they offer both catered and self-catered and was wondering if one was more appreciated than the other, and if catered was worth it money wise?

I would prefer a social accomodation and one on campus directly so that I can fully enjoy the student clubs and associations! Are there some residences y'all would recommend or not based on your experience?

Also I'll gladly accept information deemed relevant before leaving for exchange!

social Free DnD Leeds - Discord

Hi everyone

I've posted on here before (so sorry if you are a bit sick of hearing it) but I wanted to post an update.

Im running Horsforth - Go Forth! DND. A free DnD group that runs a West Marches style of playing. One shots that are linked by the same open world where instead of a commited campaign, you can jump in and out when you want. Free to olay and running out of Woodside Micropub currently.

The reason Im posting an update is because last time I posted, people mentioned that they dont have Facebook to join the group and would much prefer a discord. Well... now there's both!

I've gone and made a Discord for the group, here it is: https://discord.gg/MmHUpKqaY

If you want free dnd in Leeds or want to play without commiting to a regular campaign then join the community!

question Best beginner-friendly workout classes for weight loss?

I want to lose weight and keep hearing that weight training is really good for it, but I have no idea how to - what to do each day, form etc 😭

Are there any gyms that offer weight training classes instead of just a regular membership where I'd have to figure everything out myself?

Or would Pilates or some other type of workout be better? I'm open to anything tbh, just preferably something at least relatively budget-friendly!

Would love any recommendations or advice! Around city centre/headingly.

Hi! I'm 20, a woman, alternative and I'm planning on going out on Halloween.

Just looking for recommendations on where to go (preferably that won't bankrupt me!) And if there's anyone who wants to hang out around my age, I'd love to talk! I've had nights out in leeds but usually stuck to disco spoons, just looking for something different.

news Leeds Baby Bank was broken into last night

Had all their tech stuff stolen and the property damaged. Takes a certain kind of low life to steal from a charity for newborn babies.

They're good guys, do alot of good around the city, not sure if I'm allowed to link to their GoFundMe here (it's on their socials), but go chuck them a few quid if you can to get them up and running as soon as possible.

Edit: Thanks all for being lovely and donating! They're smashing their targets and hopefully it will be reminding them of what a bunch of lovely people are in Leeds

food/drink Best coeliac/gluten free restaurants and takeaways in Leeds.

I'm looking for recommendations for good coeliac/gluten free restaurants and takeaways in Leeds.

I'd personally give a shout out to Pizza Punks. Their GF options are great, the quality of their GF pizzas is the best we've found so far, and what's especially helpful is that when ordering from them on sites like Deliveroo, you can select GF pizzas, but also check a box to indicate the reason (coeliac).

Another shout out for Zucco in Meanwood. We told our server my wife was coeliac and they must have shared that with the rest of the team because every other server already knew when they spoke to us. Again, great options for GF (most options just swapped the regular pasta for GF pasta), food was excellent and the service was really welcoming.
