Location: Mega Center, near Magarpatta Chowk, Hadapsar, Pune Company name used in the email: Vantor Info / Vantor Tech Info
I want to share my experience from today’s interview so that other freshers and job seekers in Pune can be careful and avoid potentially losing their hard-earned money.
I received an email from Vantor Info informing me that I had been shortlisted for the position of SQL / Python / Power BI Developer. ( I am experienced and currently working as AI Engineer and i am not flexing it buddy.)
The email looked professional and contained the following details:
- Interview date: 19 October 2026
- Interview time: 11 AM – 3 PM
- Interview mode: Face-to-face
- Interview venue: Office No. 502, 4th Floor, K Wing, Mega Center, near Magarpatta Chowk, Hadapsar, Pune – 411028
- Landmark mentioned: Livelihood Center
The email also listed technical responsibilities such as SQL queries, joins, subqueries, stored procedures, database design, data modelling, and query optimization. Based on the details provided, I decided to attend the interview.
What happened when I reached the office?
When I arrived at the location, the surroundings and the condition of the place did not inspire much confidence. The premises looked poorly maintained and unclean compared with what I would expect from a professional recruitment office.
During the interaction, the HR representative was chewing gum and very very bad English .That alone would not prove anything, of course, but the overall experience became concerning because of what happened next.
They asked me only around 2–3 interview questions. There was no substantial technical assessment that would normally help determine whether a candidate was suitable for a SQL, Python, and Power BI Developer role.
Then came the biggest red flag.
They asked me to pay ₹3,000!
After asking just a few questions, they told me to pay ₹3,000 and said that I would definitely get the job the following week.
Think about that for a moment.
A candidate attends an interview for a technical position, answers a couple of questions, and is then told to pay money to secure a job, with a promise that employment is guaranteed.
I was not comfortable with this.
So I deliberately asked them to give me some time. I told them that I would consider paying later, after receiving an official offer letter. I wanted to see how they would respond.
They refused to give me time and insisted that I had to pay the ₹3,000 within an hour itself.
That was the point when I became seriously suspicious.
Why should a candidate have to pay immediately to obtain a job? Why was there so much pressure to make a payment before receiving a formal offer letter or verifiable employment terms?
I did not pay them.
My conclusion:
Based on my personal experience, I believe this recruitment process showed serious red flags consistent with a possible job scam or a pay-for-placement scheme.
I cannot independently establish everything about the company or its legal status, so I am sharing exactly what happened to me rather than claiming that every detail has been officially proven.
However, asking a candidate for ₹3,000, promising a guaranteed job, and pressuring them to pay within an hour is enough reason to stop and verify everything before proceeding.
A professional-looking email and an interview invitation do not automatically mean that a recruitment process is genuine.
Advice for other freshers in Pune
If you are looking for your first job, please keep these points in mind:
- Never rush into a payment. If someone pressures you to pay immediately, step back.
- Be extremely cautious about job guarantees in exchange for money. Verify the employer and the exact service being offered independently.
- Ask for written terms. Get the company’s legal name, official website, recruiter details, fee agreement, refund policy, and employment terms.
- Verify the actual employer. Contact the company using independently verified contact details rather than relying only on the recruiter’s email or phone number.
- Do not hand over original documents or sensitive financial information.
- Warn other job seekers. Sharing factual experiences can help others recognize the same warning signs.
I know how difficult the job search can be, especially for freshers who are attending interviews, preparing for technical rounds, and trying to start their careers. Nobody should feel pressured into paying money because they are afraid of missing a job opportunity.
I went there looking for a legitimate opportunity to use my technical skills. I left without paying, and I am sharing this experience so that others can make an informed decision.
