General/Rant Housing crisis

Hi Guys, im 26M. I have seen a lot of content about youngsters are not actually able to afford real things like houses, cars, properties. Inflation is too high. This is why people are purchasing things like Starbucks, shopping every weekend at a mall. Basically you get the point right? Is this real? because this is what influencers are talking about. I am not in India from 2024, I dont know the ground reality. Please discuss in comments.
I would like to get opinions from people with jobs or recent graduates from the college who aspire to become working professionals, not some random dude with inherited family wealth.
Also, do you guys talk to your parents about these things? or friends/ colleagues?

AskPune Bakarwadi needed (not sweet) 😭😭😭

I am not native of Maharashtra but I've eaten Maratha style Bakarwadi which is maybe made with some special kala masala. It's hella spicy and it's a task to finish one piece.

Where can I find that in Pune? Any home business or place which take festive orders? Really craving for it and all I get here is the sweet shit.

Help me out please 😭

AskPune How to revive Maharashtra Dharma?

Post image
0 Upvotes

How to actually revive Maharashtra Dharm like the Dravidians?

--> First of all, Marathis are all of different backgrounds and income brackets, how would this incentify them the poor farmers?

--> Apart from speaking Marathi with locals in MMR, Pune, CSN, Nashik, Nagpur etc. (which is an impractical idea ; time comsuming) how to indulge outsiders in our culture?

--> How to remove dominance of North Indians in politics?

--> How should be impose Marathi all over state?

etc.

My Thoughts:

I feel the best solution is to separate Maharashtra, Goa other Dravidian states and form a Deccan union like the EU, but this is a very unrealistic approach as even the resignation of a Minister took approximately 20 days and a lot of officers deployed.

AskPune Relocating to Pune - Advice needed

20+ YOE in IT. Thinking of relocating to Pune from Kolkata. Maybe buy a house, looking to settle down. Likely areas that I think would let me commute (Phase 2) and keep things sorted for a quite family life are Hinjewadi, Wakad, Pimple Saudagar, Aundh. Send kid to Playschool, and onwards in future to a reputed school, maybe wife could work in school as a hindi teacher.

Worried about the living expenses spike. I would really appreciate it if you could help point me to resources that I should consider before dialing down on this.

Saw an article about PCMC planning a water rationing plan for a day in week. What else should I consider?

Tired of the backward thought process, people squabling over trivials.

AskPune Durga Ashtami pandals or events to visit in Pune today?

Maha Ashtami is finally here, and my heart has been longing to immerse myself in the pure magic of Pujo today. There is something so deeply soulful about the authentic Bengali culture that I really want to experience up close.

I want to step out, seek Maa Durga’s blessings, soak in the divine energy of the pandals, and maybe even savor some traditional bhog.

Which are the best pandals or celebrations in Pune today where I can truly feel this emotion and experience the heart of Pujo?

Would love your top recommendations! 🙏✨

AskPune [23F] Looking for genuine female friends to explore the city with!✨️ (+ points if you're a medical student, we can study together too)

Hey everyone!

I’m a female medical student pursuing MBBS, and I’m looking to meet some genuine people I can eventually become friends with, hang out with, and explore the city together.

I’m quite introverted and don’t really have a big social circle, so making friends hasn’t exactly been my strongest skill lol. 🥹 I’d love to have people I can spontaneously plan things with, go for stand-up comedy shows, explore cute cafés, try new places, go on random little outings, or just talk about absolutely anything and everything.

I’m primarily looking for girls, because honestly, I find it easier to feel comfortable and build trust with other women. You don’t have to be a medical student at all; if we vibe, we vibe! If you’re a medical student, though, that’s an added bonus because we might have a few things in common. 😂

And just to clarify, although I’m single, this is NOT a post looking for a boyfriend. Please don’t mistake it for a dating post. I’m here for genuine friendships, not romance. My trust issues are already working overtime, and Reddit isn’t exactly helping my case. 💀

I really value people who communicate clearly, reciprocate effort, are emotionally mature, and actually care about maintaining a friendship. I’m not expecting us to become best friends overnight, but I’d love to meet people who are willing to put in the effort and let a friendship develop naturally. I’m not really into the whole nonchalant, hot-and-cold, disappearing-for-weeks-without-a-word dynamic.

I might be a little reserved initially, but once I’m comfortable, I can be quite talkative. I’d just love to find my kind of people, build trust gradually, and have some fun memories outside the usual college-study-sleep-repeat cycle.

So, if you’re a girl who’s also looking for genuine friendships, or a medical student who wants someone to explore the city with, feel free to hit me up! We can talk a little, see if we get along, and maybe plan an outing if we click. No pressure, just good vibes and hopefully some wholesome friendships. 💗

P.S. Friendship applications are open. Emotional availability and basic communication skills are highly appreciated. 😂🫶🏻

Why bikers in Pune ride like they own the road? Why such a pathetic level of traffic sense? Why they ride like snake? Even snake has discipline.

General/Rant Most traffic rule-breakers I see at peak hours aren't native Punekars/PCMCkars

This is just my experience, so take it as an opinion.

I've been riding around Pune for 10+ years on scooters, geared bikes and an adventure bike. In the peak-hour office rush, the worst riding I see usually doesn't come from locals.

To be fair, a lot of people from outside wear helmets. But a helmet doesn't mean someone follows the rules. Often it's just to avoid a challan.

What I see daily: riding on footpaths, sudden lane changes, no indicators, cutting in front of bikes without warning, overspeeding, and more.
My guess is that some people come from places where traffic rules are barely enforced, and that habit comes with them.

Locals are tired of the traffic too, and many ride without helmets, which is wrong. But most of them still ride with some sense. The aggressive, reckless riding mostly comes from the other side.

To be clear, I'm not saying every non-local rides like this. Plenty don't. Also, an MH-12/14/61 plate doesn't mean the rider is from Pune. A lot of people who moved here have local plates.

Curious if others riding through Hinjewadi, Kalyani Nagar, Kharadi, Baner and similar areas notice the same thing, or if I'm just seeing a pattern that isn't there.

AskPune Help me find a server job in High End cafe/bar

Hi,

I have strong conversational and people skills, and I’m actively looking for a part-time role in high-end restaurants, bars, or cafes in Pune. I have the time and the ability, and I want to put both to good use while earning.

Beyond the money, I’m also looking for a challenge that pushes me to grow as a person. I’m ready to bring energy, professionalism, and a positive attitude to the right place.

If you know of any openings or can point me in the right direction, I’d love to hear from you.

AskPune OG Milan (HRK’s) Khanaval shut down?

The one right next to Aware Khanaval, has been closed for more than a week now. About a month ago they had also changed the older staff and had hired new guys (except the kitchen staff). Anyone knows more? I doubt it’s being renovated because they have also removed the name board.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/B8wxQWyTuqfpQ6oc9?g_st=ic

Other 3 places with the same or similar (Minal instead of Milan) (including the one right in front of it), just don’t have the same taste. Even though they have the exact same branding and colours, I doubt they have the same owners.

AskPune MOI from Pune University

• Upvotes

Hello,

I recently got an opportunity in the UK on a skilled worker Visa.

I am an engineering graduate from 2018 from PCCOE before it became autonomous. My query is regarding Medium of Instruction documents.

What is the timeline to get it?

Do I need to go to university or can my college provide it?

What documents would I need for MOI?

Has anyone done the process for this document recently, how was your experience?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Outdoors/Activities Request started trekking with a few strangers from reddit, now its 2300 punekars. still free, still no one making money

hey r/pune

so few years back a random conversation on reddit turned into a couple of us going on a trek together. that kept happening and now we're around 2300 people in 3 whatsapp groups lol

the whole idea was simple. trekking around pune shouldnt need a 3000 rupee package or a friend group that's actually free on the same weekend. you just show up, meet people, go up a fort, come back tired and happy. lot of people did their first trek with us and plenty come alone and leave with friends. we also do cleanups on forts sometimes because we keep seeing the same plastic everywhere.

its free to join, no organiser fee, nobody making money. we split whatever bus, guide and food actually costs. people kept asking whats the catch so we started putting the cost sheets on our site, even the small discount the organiser got is in there. AMK was 2101 per head, aadrai 858 if your curious

Official Website

full disclosure i help run it. ask me anything

Event Name: Pune Trekkers (weekend treks to forts around Pune)
Event Type: Hiking / fort treks, sometimes cleanups
Participant Requirements: none to join. beginners welcome, each trek says how tough it is so pick what suits you. all genders, no age bar but under 18 should come with a parent
Estimated Participant Cost: free to join. only actual shared cost per trek (bus, guide, food), usually around ₹850–2,100 depending on the trek

General/Rant Power cuts and water shortage. Do we still need such grand celebrations?

With increasing Power cuts and water shortage do we still need to have such grand festivals?

I dont want to hurt relegious sentiments but shouldn't we look at humanity first and see what our priorities are..
