Career Which is better- Global MBA, Mfin, or Job Switch?
Hi everyone,
I'm currently at a crossroads in my career and would appreciate your guidance.
I'm not keen on continuing at my current firm due to limited promotion opportunities and salary growth.
My background:
- my_qualifications: B.E. in Computer Science + M.S. in Economics , Tier 1 clg
- Internship: 1 year at a bulge-bracket investment bank
- Current role: Hybrid AI consulting and tech role at a top consulting firm ( not MBB)
- Compensation: ~₹20 LPA
- Certification: CFA L1
- academics - 9/8/8
I'm confused about whether I should switch to another firm for better compensation and career growth or gain 2–3 years of work experience and pursue an MBA/Master's in Finance abroad.
I'm interested in finance, but I'm also flexible and open to other high-growth, well-paying career paths. However, I don't want to move into purely technical or data science roles.
I would appreciate your perspective on a few questions:
Job switch: How long should I stay at my current firm before switching for better compensation and career progression?
MBA vs MSc Finance: Given my background and career interests, which would be a better option—an international MBA or a Master's in Finance?
Work experience: How many years of experience should I ideally gain before applying to top global MBA/mfin programs?
CFA: Should I continue pursuing CFA Levels 2 and 3, or would it be better to prioritize relevant work experience and career opportunities?
Scholarships and ROI: Which international MBA/MFin programs offer strong career outcomes, good scholarships, and a reasonable ROI? I would prefer to avoid taking on a massive education loan.
Long-term career growth: From a compensation and career perspective, would it be better to continue in AI/tech consulting, switch directly into finance, or pursue higher education abroad?
My main goal is to build a high-growth, well-paying career without limiting myself to purely technical roles or taking on excessive financial risk.
I'd really appreciate your advice on which path makes the most sense for my long-term career.
Thanks!
