Why no proper water planning for such a good city!

Edit - FkOF, people saying the govt can't do anything about the rain are exactly why we are stuck. It's 2026, not 1980. The govt can't control the rain, but they can control how we manage our reservoirs, fix pipeline leakages, and recycle wastewater. If PMC doesn't even know the exact daily consumption of the city or haven't mapped the distribution network, that has nothing to do with rain and everything to do with a complete lack of modern urban planning.

AskPune Maharashtra SIR

• Upvotes

draft list.
SIR: 33% Delhi voters removed from draft list, 21% in Maharashtra

And in Pune around 28 lakhs voters deletion. Pune Voter List 2026: 28.66 Lakh Names Removed, 31.57% Drop

And in mumbai 30 lakhs. Mumbai voter list revision: 30 lakh names removed, Maharashtra CEO urges officials to protect eligible voters

So, im from Pune. And i know one thing that people who are natives around this area, or outside pune but near pune. Had 2 voter id's, not all, i dont wanna generalise. But many, so during SIR they migrated their names to their villages if their village was near. And suppose their village was far they kept their names in city where they resided currently. And due to this Maharashtrian's votes comparatively declined in city area, and non-native Maharashtrian voter share increased.

And generally non-native Maharashtrians consists of South ad North, People from North belt are supports of BJP, again not everyone. So for advantage of BJP they held SIR, which was not 100% right and fair. . Local Body By-Elections & Remaining Gram Panchayats are about to happen in early/mid 2027. So, lets see. what are yall opinions

AskPune Why do some Punekars get defensive when people criticise Pune’s civic issues?

I’ve noticed an interesting difference in how people react to civic criticism of Mumbai versus Pune on Instagram.
When reels highlight Mumbai’s civic issues, a lot of Mumbaikars seem willing to acknowledge the problems, criticise the BMC and share their own experiences.
However, when similar reels highlight Pune’s potholes, traffic, garbage or poor infrastructure, I’ve often seen comments attacking the creator or telling them to leave Pune instead of addressing the issue itself.
Obviously, not every Mumbaikar or Punekar behaves this way, but the difference in the reactions I’ve come across is noticeable. excessive attachment to the city’s reputation, or am I just seeing a vocal minority in Instagram comment sections? Genuinely curious to hear what other Punekars think.

AskPune Are Punekars really like that??

Hello Guys,

I'm from Madhya Pradesh and I've been in Pune for the last 8 months. So far, my experience with Pune people and its places was good until 7th October. This red colored pickup who delivers water cans to Cerebrum IT Park hit my CB350RS while it was parked in the assigned company's parking slot. The result of the hit was that it bent the handlebar, front brake lever, and rear brake lever, broke the right foot peg, and scratched the engine-leg guard and right bar end plug. The total overall Bigwing estimate is about 5-7k. I got the CCTV footage the same day. Now let me go through the incident date by date.

8th October: I got the contacts of the company that delivers water cans named 'Namra' based on Yerawada. The manager accepted that it was his workers' fault. But he said that this whole damage costs 1k-1.5k. So, he denied paying anything unless I take my bike to Nanapeth on 10th October and he'll get the first copy or duplicate items there which I denied. I already got the estimate from Bigwing.

10th October: He said someone died in his relatives and he's going there. I didn't say a word and let him go. In the evening, when I messaged him regarding service at Bigwing, he called and straight up denied paying a single rupee.

11th October: I confronted the driver and worker in the IT park and asked about the damage repair. He said that he doesn't have any money, and connected me with his manager. It was the same person whom I was talking to since the start. He started saying things like "mai local hun, police bhi jh**t kuch nahi karegi, tumhe jo karna hai karlo". I recorded the whole confrontation and didn't even shout and abused them in the whole conversation. It's not like i can't fight or even go to the extreme extent of their loss, but I chose peace and let them go and got my bike partially repaired.

Now you'll think that everything's sorted out. Nope. That driver SPITTED GUTKA/PAAN on my bike's petrol tank yesterday on 16th October while it was again parked in my company's assigned parking. Now it's not just about the money, it's personal. I'm losing my mind again and I'm getting enraged. I can beat the shit out of them but that will only lead to the further legal consequences on me with a rivalry which will cost me my time, my money, and my safety. I'm still trying to understand what's my mistake in all this. I'm unable to focus on anything and can't even think of the next step.

No TL;DR, not possible.

NH48 in Pune - This highway sucks! I daily hate people who proposed, planned and built this most pathetic thing in India. CJP should protest for good and safer roads rather than fake electoral narrative. This highway is a curse on Punekars, and a free punishment for IT people who pay 30% tax.

General/Rant Pune has 1000s problem, E-Rickshaw ain't one of them

Post image
81 Upvotes

TLDR; E-Rickshaw are a menace and I am glad they are not there in Pune.

I know everyone hates Pune traffic and rightly so as traffic police turns a blind eye on violators and there are no repercussions.

But I went to my native last month for 3 weeks and realized what Pune is not missing. E-Rickshaw.

Only good thing about them is that you get them easily and they charge less (I took one for ₹50 for 4 kms).

But as they are easy to drive and good source to earn money, anyone can dive then. So people who work as a daily wage workers, plumber etc drive e rickshaw in their free time.

This causes a huge traffic problem as they are not good driver, they drive/park anywhere. And local administration doesn't care. I almost got hit by one in those 3 weeks. Also they have bad suspension so if you sit in them for 1 hr, your spine will not be happy with you.

(exception is E-Rickshaw from Bajaj etc which are like existing petrol autos and have good suspension, but as they cost more, very few people buy them).

So thanks to Auto Mafia or local policies or whatever, I am glad they are not in Pune. They would make the traffic situation go from bad to worse. Would it be cheaper to travel? Absolutely. But the risk outweigh the reward.

General/Rant Toughest road to drive in Pune

Unfortunately, I need to commute on this road while going to the office everyday. This road is very unsafe to drive on because of the unnecessary crowd of people roaming on the road. Most overcrowded roads especially in the evenings. One of the reasons is that this area is over populated causing the people to come off the narrow roads which are two way for vehicles. Plus the parked vehicles and vendors on the road side make it miserable for the passing vehicles.

Check out the entire video to understand the pain I am going through.

This is Sayyed Nagar road in the south of Pune. Please avoid travelling by this road especially during evening time

SCAM Alert Bike tyre puncture costed me 5000 INR

Post image
28 Upvotes

This is one of the scams happening in some of the areas in Pune. This happened to me in the Baner area. I was driving to my friend's place for her birthday celebration when my entire weekend mood was screwed.

On my way, I felt that my bike was wobbling and I immediately realized that I have a puncture situation.

The only best and worst thing that happened to me was that there was a puncture repair shop just around 200 metres from where the bike stopped. Best because I did not have to drag my bike for a long distance, worst because i got scammed later. It was around 35° C, a warm sunny day.

When I reached the shop, the puncture guy started to remove the tube from the bike since I have a tube tire. Before he checked the number of holes in the tube, he checked for the same in the tyre and to my bad luck, he found 5 cuts in the tyre. He started applying patches on the cuts, each patch costing around 400. After applying 5 patches, he said there are more such cuts and the tire needs to be changed that would cost around 4K. Ideally he should have checked the entire tyre from inside and then suggested the solution.

I told him that I won't pay for the patches because he did not check it initially and is charging me for that as well. He started fighting with me and started threatening me that if I don't pay for the patches, he will call his friends and beat the hell out of me.

Since, I did not want to get into any fight, i ended up paying 2K for the patches and 3K for the tyre.

Please be careful when you are at a puncture repair shop. These guys also intentionally use sharp objects to make holes in the tyres. Of course not all are like that however there are such people out there in pune.

A little about my journey 🎶

After spending a few years in England studying music and working on my craft, I moved back to India and eventually found myself in Pune. Music has always been a big part of my life, and I’m continuing to build my journey as an independent artist, songwriter, composer, and producer.

I’m looking to connect with fellow musicians, producers, songwriters, vocalists, and people working in the music industry here in Pune. It would be great to exchange creative ideas, learn from each other’s experiences, and explore potential collaborations.

If you’re working on something interesting in the music space, I’d love to hear about it. Always happy to discover new talent and connect through music! 🎧

AskPune Photographer threatened to post a video about me after I left a negative Google review. What should I do?

I contacted a photographer to get a wedding photo album made. I had been following up for several days without getting a response, so today I called and asked whether he was interested in taking the work.
He said he would do it, but wouldn’t make repeated corrections—it would be a one-time job. I asked what would happen if I didn’t like the design or needed changes. He told me to get it done somewhere else and ended the call.
I felt the interaction was unprofessional, so I left a Google review describing my experience.
He then contacted me asking why I had posted the review. When I explained, he said he would post a video about me on Instagram. I asked what video, and he said, “You’ll see.” I don’t know what video he meant.
I got scared and deleted the review. I then called him to confirm that I had removed it and said, “Sorry if you felt bad.” He replied, “Thank you, ma’am.” He hasn’t contacted me since.
I’m still feeling anxious about the threat. Should I leave the matter there, or take any precautions? Has anyone dealt with something similar?
I’m keeping his name and business details private because I’m looking for advice.

AskPune Please recommend a therapist.

Hi all,
Currently at Hinjewadi, but originally from Mumbai, and also going through a rough patch in life, I do have some issues that I haven't dealt with yet.
Need a therapist who is non-judgmental and can really, really help me.

Used to go to a therapist before when I was in Mumbai, but tbh she did not feel right to me; her meds did help me with my anxiety tho

Location: would prefer near Hinjewadi but open to travel more
Budget: under 2k, but can stretch if people can vouch for the therapist.
Would prefer in-person sessions.

SOS (Concerning) What is actually causing the bad AQI around Hinjewadi/Wakad? It was below 60 during monsoon, but now it feels much worse.

I live in Hinjewadi side, and I'm experiencing something difference in the AQI. like I've been coughing when I go outside for walk.

I've been wondering what's actually causing the air pollution around Hinjewadi and Wakad.

During the rainy season, I remember seeing AQI readings below 60 around the Wakad side. Now I'm seeing readings around 154 in Pune, and the air feels noticeably worse to me. I've even been coughing, which is making me concerned.

What confuses me is that I don't see the same level of major construction activity everywhere that I'd expect to explain the pollution. So, what is actually driving the AQI up?

I know monsoon rain can temporarily bring particulate pollution down, so the difference between rainy-season readings and dry-season readings might not necessarily mean that emissions have increased. But I'd like to understand what's happening locally rather than just assume.

A few questions for people living or working around Hinjewadi and Wakad:

  1. Have you noticed the same deterioration in air quality recently?

  2. Which areas seem worst, and at what time of day?

  3. Has anyone checked actual monitoring-station data or PM2.5/PM10 readings rather than just the overall AQI?

  4. Are there any local pollution sources that residents suspect but rarely discuss?

I'm genuinely trying to understand the cause, not blame a particular industry or activity without evidence. If anyone has reliable data, local observations, or knowledge of the area's pollution sources, please share it.

What do you think is the biggest contributor to pollution around Hinjewadi and Wakad?
