This was also my first time trying ladderback jacquard and I really enjoyed it!

I messed up a couple of stitches in the design and initially planned to fix them with duplicate stitch but I think I'll leave them.

Pattern is the tarot card sweater by Tamara Jordan. Yarn used was Drops Lima in almond & black.

(Cabled Heart Hat free pattern on Ravelry) I am SO proud of myself for trying some challenging cables, and very pleased with the result. At one point I realized that I missed a cable FOUR rows down and did the most stressful ladder down of my life. I learned so much doing this, and my husband loves his new hat!

What' your favorite project that isn't a hat/gloves/scarf/sweater etc?

I made an octopus dice bag for my D&D loving friend. It was so fun to knit and came together super fast! The tentacles turning curly was like magic!

I love this top! I made size 3 and used Rowan Creative Linen which is much heavier yarn than suggested in the pattern. Only mod was longer sleeves, almost to my elbow crease. I'm so happy with it!

Work in Progress Followed exact same instructions, second sock came out way too big. Help 😭

Thumbnail

Edit: The issue was definitely my tension! One is 34 stitches x 34 rows = 4 inches and the other is 31 stitches x 28 rows = 4 inches 🧎🏽‍♀️My tension is so perfect on non-colorwork projects I just couldn't believe it lol. Thank you everyone!! Gonna go reknit this thing 🧶

I am just completely confused right now. I've knit 5 pairs of socks and I have never had this issue, but this is my first time doing colorwork.

I followed the exact same instructions for both socks, and I take notes on literally everything I do on the 1st sock and follow those for the 2nd. I know I knit them in the same size, as the colorwork charts are different for each size and I would have noticed the change. And even if I didn't, I triple check the number of stitches after casting on, completing the heel turn, and starting the toe.

The only possible thing I can think of is that I used the wrong needle size but I can't imagine that being the case. I used a fixed size 1 needle for the cuff and an interchangeable size 2 for the rest of the sock, and I didn't even disassemble the size 2s before starting the second sock! Upon realizing how much bigger the 2nd was, I double checked and sure enough, the needle is the correct size. I used the exact same technique to knit both as well, just in case the issue is the length of floats being looser in the 2nd, I included a picture. I don't even think I accidentally knit the entirety of sock 1 on size 1 needles, because I've only knit socks on size 1s before and I remember being annoyed with how bulky the size 2s felt when I was getting used to them.

The gauge on the 2nd sock is definitely looser than the 1st, I just cannot figure out how this came to be. The issue isn't blocking either, I like to block my socks together once they're completed. Any help would be appreciated T-T

The pattern is Easy Peasy Socks by Karolina Adamczyk. The yarn is Cascade Heritage in the color Snow and WYS Signature 4 Ply in the color Summer Sunset.

Happy LGBTQ History Month! The southern US is enjoying cooler weather for Pride events vs. June celebrations. I was stuck working mandatory overtime while my church marched in the Pride parade and gave out glitter blessings today ☹️

Here's a pair of armwarmers I made for my kid, who has the 'tism and says "THEY'RE ITCHY" and won't wear 'em. But they look good and were fun to make.

The pattern is Two Blue Ruins, by Raven Sherbo. All my tweaks are in the last pic, and yes, I'm always like this. Yarn is Deluxe Stripes by Universal Yarn. Teenager is by me but doesn't want to be perceived.

My sweet baby girl Daisy presented me with my Sophie Shawl project bag. I love her so much! 😍🥰🥲

The ball of Poema Cashmere survived the ordeal. It took an hour to wind it back up. She also managed to avoid the ball of Isager mohair and walk collection delicate merino.

I am LOVING double knitting so far but holy cow is it ever slow going, and does it ever require concentration. This first bit, between the cast-on and the wee needles and just learning the concept, took foreeeeeever. The results are spectacular though and I'm so motivated to keep going with it.

The pattern is the Buzzy Bees Scarf, and the yarn is Jawoll Superwash Sock in "morning sun" and "midnight black."

Pattern: Starry Starry Night Socks by Suzanne Bryan

Link: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/starry-starry-night-socks

Alterations/options: knit using the wide leg chart and round toe tip chart

Yarn: Wool Warehouse Yarnsmiths Merino Sock (4ply, 75% merino, 25% nylon) in Royal Blue and White

--------

I finally finished my first pair of socks!

It feels like a big knitting milestone to me. I've been a knitter for a while now (about 8.5 years?), and have been knitting colourwork for a large chunk of that time. But one thing I consistently shied away from was socks; the heels worried me. Earlier this year I took a leap of faith and now I have a pair of socks!

I loved knitting these. The heel was much less fiddly than I thought it would be, despite having to knit flat in colourwork (not my favourite activity, that's for sure). The pattern was easy to follow

They were on the needles for the better part of a year. I have a habit of knitting a chunk, forgetting about it for a few months, knitting a bit more, forgetting it again, and so on in this lurching fashion until the project is finished.

I've included the finished socks along with some progress photos from throughout the year. If the question of why most appear to be taken in a greenhouse crossed your mind, that's because they were. I often go to Kew Gardens at weekends to chill out in the glasshouses and knit while enjoying the greenery. Most of these were taken in the Palm House.

This is the novice sweater by Petite Knit. Started this in February and finished yesterday.

I stopped knitting in the spring and summer months though, so I think this roughly took me 2 months in total.

I love how it's turned out for my first project! Just need to block it now.

A few things I'd do differently, a) try avoiding holes around the arm pits and neaten up that area b) check the sleeve ribbing lengths, I think I was off by one row! c) learn to bind off in a prettier way.

Gonna try the anker sweater next

Finished Object Pre and Post Blocking

That pre-blocked picture is just so funny to me. I knew it was going to fit her, and I still made her try it on about 20 times as I was knitting it, just to be sure😂.

Pattern is Tincanknits Classic Cardigan, knit in 3x2 rib. Yarn is YarnBee Authentic Hand Dyed in Market at Malta and I think Unicorn Horn(they were thrifted and that one didn't have a label).

Sorry for the motion blurs, my model is 4 and "hold still" is a combination of words she's yet to comprehend😂.

My first time following a pattern and knitting in the round! So so much fun. Definitely messed up but I learned! This is an altered sugarloaf shrug that I made a little shorter so it was a capelet (kinda). This was so much fun and I finally understood why blocking is amazing!!

yarn is worsted wool from Michael’s (details coming later, I have to look up the exact color and brand)

Who am I? After almost a year stuck on second sleeve and ribbing island, my Salty Days Sweater is done! Yarn WYS Shetland wool I bought while on vacation in Scotland.

Second pattern is Saxon Braid Shawl in British Masham/Blueface Leicester blend from Ginger Twist Studio, colorway Lallybroch (also bought on vacation in Scotland).

The lighting here is terrible so it's very hard to take a good picture... I think the last one is truest to the real color.
