I stitched a picture of my eye and decided to add what it looks like to me during the beginning of a migraine attack. Chronic migraines are awful, 0/10, do not recommend.
EDIT: Thank you so much for all of the compliments! 💚
I'm so glad my embroidery helped some of you communicate about your symptoms and that some of you even realized you might have been experiencing the same thing. Not all aura migraines come with severe headaches, it's a complex neurological disorder that can cause plenty of weird symptoms 🧠

I made this so that I could hang it in my SpongeBob themed bathroom however it only just occurred to me that it might be a bad place for something I spent a great deal of time on. I'm worried the steam from the shower will cause mold growth but I don't actually know so I was hoping for some personal experiences if anyone has any.

First attempt at embroidery, so it’s super messy. But also SUPER satisfying.

This one is a Christmas present for my grandma. (2026 is the year of bringing back homemade gifts) Remind me to never do another butterfly again. Filling in the black around the white took FOREVER and was so tedious but I'm very happy with how this one turned out.

How do you prioritize which layer of stitches goes first. For reference, this sampler I'm working on has the pattern on the pot. The first try I did the criss cross (3 strands) and the straight stitch (3 strands) before doing the rest of the pot with a satin stitch (3 strands). I got halfway through and it was awful so I took it out and started again with doing the satin stitch (2 strands) first then the details (3 strands for criss cross and straight) but I'm not sure if this is any better. Picture of the satin first then details after.

I hand embroidered this skeletal leaf with floral wire, thread, fabric and dyes using stumpwork techniques. The veins are embroidered and the rest is fabric. This is part of a larger project I'm working on, but I felt it was too pretty not to share by itself. I've made several leaves like this one and while the process is always the same, I love that each one turns out a bit different. This one was dyed to give it a slightly frosted/icy look.

About a week ago I posted my first piece. Now this is somewhat of an update on what I’ve been working on the past 5 days. It’s a kit from hobby lobby WITH instructions this time (last one didn’t have any). I guess this is my first REAL piece. I’m happy with the outcome but I could not, for the life of me, figure out how to do the curly lazy daisy stitch. If anyone has some tips on how to do it, i would gladly appreciate it. I tried my best lol but gave up half way through a flower. I’m very happy with it. Proud of myself 😌

Working on this piece- my first applique one. Ive kind of gone backwards- I embroidered the multi color beads outline before i ironed on the white and green patches. Im not sure how to finish the edges of the applique - satin stitch or blanket?? I do want to keep the beaded edge i love that. Would love some ideas

I started this pup as a gift for my mom a year and a half ago but didn't like how the fur around his collar was turning out so I put it down and never picked it back up. Unfortunately earlier this week she had to put him down and I tried to push through and finish so I could send it to her to (finally) have.
I don't love how the bottom half turned out, but I don't really know what to do to change it either. I'm a beginner, it's my third pet I've done. She doesn't know about it and will love it either way. I'm just self critical and looking for possible feedback for improving him.
Be nice, I'm sensitive 😂😂

I aspire to be like basically everyone in this group, but I have a lot of practice and learning to do. This is the first project I’ve completed after a little practice. Already started my second and hoping it will be better!

Are there any companies that are pretty good on dupes for DmC because I do not want to give them my business because of you know the whole HP thing. Are there any safe companies that anyone recommends? They don't even have to be complete dupes but just a good color variety? I'm very very new to embroidery and I don't know reliable sources of floss.

I am looking for resources on how to do historical embroidery resources. I can find lots of books on modern embroidery techniques that explain how to do modern projects. I can find lots of books that talk about historical embroidery and how those pieces fit in an art context of historical work. I cannot find resources on how to do historical embroidery techniques to do period appropriate work.
Anyone know where to look?

I’m specifically looking for patterns from Jászárokszállás or around Lake Balaton, but any traditional Hungarian patterns or clear designs would be super. If you have any information about fiber art from those areas (in English) I would love to see/hear it, please! I’m told that the flower and colour combinations can tell stories about place and people, but I’m struggling to find much information about it.
My husband’s family is from that area and I’d like to make something for my MIL.
