Hand Chickens
I told my friend I was looking for inspiration for my next piece and asked her what art she likes. She said, "any bird painting." This was what I chose to embroider for her.

Hand Rolling with my Gnomies
Ok, so I just finished this guy and I have to say I am a little obsessed with stitching Gnomes right now. They just have such personalities and lend themselves so well to crewel work…and their noses just crack me up!
This guy was my own stitched design worked on 56 count linen stretched on a Freedom slate frame with a combo of DMC & Anchor floss.

Hand Tip
I'll still make some tweaks to the lettering.
I need help figuring out the best way to fill in the pattern circle.
I already know I'll use satin/straight stitch to embroider the lighter "snakes" in the pattern, but I'm not sure exactly how to do it. For example: should I draw one line on top of the other? Or should I do it the same way I filled in the letters (just covering the space)?
I'm sorry if it wasn't clear. Please, help me!

Hand My first embroidery attempt-- I'm going to hang it in my classroom!
I was really proud of my first embroidery attempt! I traced the outline of an Alabama-shaped cutting board, then did the counties freehanded. (That was the hardest part!) Each county is a different stitch or pattern.

Hand Lego ghost 👻
Bought some glow-in-the-dark floss and HAD to make the nostalgic choice. Didn’t anticipate the creepiness factor… 😂

Hand Second attempt at Pokemon embroidery!
Decided to try embroidering a Phantump onto an old jumper. Last time I tried embroidering a Wooper onto a tank top but used satin stitch instead of long an short so it didn’t quite sit right and the thread kept moving, I used long and short stitch this time round and it feels waaaaay more secure thankfully. Might add a few more when my hands stop hurting!

Hand Proud Rainbow Rooster
For me, chickens have always been associated with a happy childhood in the countryside. A rainbow-colored tail—why not, right? ;) I used a single strand of Ariadna thread, plus some random thread of Chinese origin.
Could this be considered "thread painting"?

Hand Suggestions for which stitch to outline the letters?
Newbie here, attempting my first piece, self-drafted design. The felt fabric has been stitched down with a buttonhole (blanket?) stitch, and I stitched out the letters using a quick running stitch.
I’ve tried a couple stitches using 2 or 3 strands of floss, but nothing is looking right. I’d like to do a fairly thick outline in white/black.
Open to any ideas/suggestions that will help the lettering pop! Thanks

Question Centering hoop tips?
Any tips or tricks on how to center these hoops for framing? Just eyeballing it has me nearly breaking a sweat wresting some of these tighter hoops in just to have to redo them several times over.

Hand Just wanted to share my failure
This was my first attempt at embroidery and was feeling pretty good about it even though it’s rudimentary. I got to the french knots, messed up and it ended there. I also missed a spot and then later something spilled on it. I’ve kept it because it was my first but I thought you might appreciate the mess I made.

Hand WIP Ælfgyva - Bayeux tapestry
I was invited to speak at a history conference next spring at my Alma mater. my thesis supervisor who’s helping organize it specialized in medieval gender history. I’ve been obsessed with the bayeux tapestry for years and wanted to try and recreate panels as accurately as possible. This will be a gift to my supervisor. So I used this as an opportunity to start on a small recreation. I’m using the ecovita wool thread from dmc and while it’s a bit chunkier than I’d like. it’s really coming together.
Ælfgyva is one of THREE female figures on the 220 metre tapestry. She‘s a mystery due to how common the name was. But there’s some thought as to her identity being tied to some sort of scandal due to the naked monk underneath her panel
I learned the bayeux couching stitch for the first time And I’m loving it. I’m not sure if the thread will allow the details but I can always redo it in the cotton thread if I need to.
anyone have tips for threading the ecovita into embroidery needles?? or should I just suck it up and go to the fabric store for a bigger size? 😅

Hand Procrastination
Why do winter prep yard work when you can procrastinate instead? Plus, I wanted an excuse to try out my glow in the dark threads that just arrived. The orange isn't nearly as bright as I'd hoped, but it still works! I now have (yet more) embroidery ideas to get me through the winter. 😁 (gods help me 😅 haha) Definitely was not easy getting through all the backing on this hat, but it was nice following an existing form!
