News Early Voting Starts Tomorrow - Make A Plan

General Election Early Voting 2026 begins tomorrow, October 19, for the November 3 general election in Texas.
Whether you vote early or on Election Day, participating in our elections is one of the most basic and important ways citizens have a voice in how their communities, state, and country are governed.
Good government depends on an informed and engaged citizenry.
Take some time to review the candidates and issues on your ballot, consider the information from reliable sources, and make your own decisions.
You don't have to agree with your neighbors - or with anyone else - to recognize the value of participating in the process.
If you're eligible to vote, make a plan and make your voice heard.
Early voting runs through October 30, and voting locations and hours can vary by county.
Check the official VoteTexas.gov or find your voting location before heading out.
Whatever your choices on the ballot, an engaged electorate is good for Texas and good for democracy.

Event Well I guess the State Fair didn’t know what type of artist Travie McCoy was.
As if upsetting people by switching the acts around wasn’t enough, the State Fair then pulled the plug on his performance before he could even finish his set.
He made a few comments about Trump while onstage and expressed frustration with the crew for refusing to dim the lights when he asked.
At one point, he knocked over his microphone, and shortly afterward, his set was abruptly cut short before he could perform “Stereo Hearts.”
Rather than give up, he continued performing the song without a microphone — rapping the verses himself while the crowd sang the chorus.
It was pretty clear the State Fair didn’t want him continuing, and they wasted no time rushing everyone out afterward.
Between the last-minute schedule changes that wasn’t communicated, the interrupted performance, and the way the crowd was treated, the entire situation was incredibly disappointing.

History Cockrell Hill
I have a question.
Dallas, over its history, has annexed many smaller neighboring cities—East Dallas, Renner, Oak Cliff, to name a few.
Well, I recently learned that from time to time, movements pop up for some of these areas to de-annex. Apparently, in the late '80s to early '90s, Oak Cliff separatism got pretty big but ultimately never happened.
But I'm wondering why the hell Cockrell Hill still exists. 3,600 or so people, it's like ten square blocks...
I don't mean to be disrespectful, but what's the damn point? It's not like a Highland Park or something where they have some specific reason to be separated (history, segregation, wealth, school districts, geographic identity, etc.)
Is there a reason they haven't given up and just joined Dallas already?

Photo kittens
I have been taking care of a feral community of cats at a local Dallas business. Un we had kittens before the mother could get fixed. The owner wants the kittens to be re-home so we don't have too many. I have reached out to several shelters and rescues, but no one is able to take them in. I can feed them by hand with but holding them is not an option yet. If anyone would like a kitten I would be grateful. I think I can catch them when they are eating, but would need to be able to hand them off. Please, if you would like to help send me a DM to work out the details.

Event Oct 31 Halloween Date Night activity
I was wondering if anyone knows about a good activity or event to go for a date night? I know there’s a bunch of parties in Dallas but my wife and I are looking for more laid back things to do while wearing costumes.
Something like rooftop movies, chill festivals, etc.
Any help is appreciated!

Question Place to sit outside and enjoy the weather
What would be a good place to sit outside and spend most of the day? Planning to make lunch and just not come back home till after the sun sets. I’m in Richardson but willing to drive over 30-40 mins. Bonus if I can get coffee nearby. Thanks in advance!

Photo Anybody driving on Washington Ave last night about 7:45PM and saw a cyber truck t bone me?
[Friday night, October 16] I think the other driver could see that I couldn’t open my door so they took the opportunity to takeoff… I tried to follow them, but obviously that was not a safe idea with my kid in the backseat… I was just hoping that somebody got a picture, witnessed it, has ring footage on that street? Right before Ross Ave? I’m so pissed and sore…but safe. Cars can be replaced, people cannot…very grateful for that & DPD got out fairly quickly, all things considered…thanks for , minimally, letting me vent about asshole-Dallas-drivers….
Ohhh or if you see a light gold cyber truck with front end damage? Around uptown, old East Dallas , Deep Ellum, or downtown? You can just give them the finger for me —

Question What Songs Do You Associate With Dallas
I am helping run my college's radio station and I am trying to create some setlist for my show and I am trying to create a setlist being a musical recap of the Washington Commanders schedule with each song being related to the home city of the teams they play, for the Commanders' Bye next week. I would love to include some songs related to Dallas in the song choice for my show next week as I know nothing about the city of Dallas besides it being the largest city in the state and being the home of the NFL's Cowboys and NHL's Stars. Please can you share your suggestions in the comments below.
(For context I am from the Washington DC area so I am theming each week's show around who the Commanders play that week)
