Posting a question? BE SPECIFIC!

Dallas/Ft. Worth is a HUGE place! There are literally thousands of restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, shops, and museums. There are 30+ neighborhoods and suburbs in Dallas alone, each offering different draws for different people. There are over 700 Dallasites on this sub ready to give you advice on where to go and what to do, but we can't do that without some level of input. So be specific! Give us the details! If you go to a shoe store and tell the clerk, "I need shoes," that isn't going to get you anywhere. What size? Color? Material? Occasion? That's the kind of info that will get you some answers.

DON'T ASK: Where should I live?

DO ASK: I am 25 years old with no kids and a cat. I want to live somewhere quiet with parks close by and easy access to a major highway. My budget is $1000 mo. for rent and utilities. Having to drive to entertainment is fine, I love using gas. I like white walls/carpet and vertical blinds. Where should I live?

DON'T ASK: What bar should I go to?

DO ASK: I like reggae and expensive cocktails. I don't mind going to a seedier part of town, but would like there to be on-site parking. Good bar food is a plus. Where should I go?

You cannot possibly give too much information. Pile it on!

Edit: A few great suggestions from the comments:

DO: Tell us where you're coming from!

DO: Tell us where in the metroplex you're searching for something!

Driving/Licenses/Local Gov't Early Voting Question

Voted early in Collin County today. Curious, did anyone else in the county (or surrounding counties) also have to complete the bubble fill-in ballots? I'm surprised the voting process is not conducted on a machine. Just curious.

Airports (DFW/DAL) How can I use global entry at DFW when arriving from the UK

Hi everyone,

DFW has a new program that allows travelers from the UK to avoid having to go landside and back through TSA to final destination.

Usually at US airports you go through border control, pick up your bag and recheck it when having another flight after your arrival from an international flight.

However, when arriving from the UK to Dallas airport, they will make you follow two lines: final destination or people who transfer to a different flight.

And then you get into a seperate line at control while the global entry kiosks are at the end of the big room that you cannot access with the lane you’re in.

Now I‘m wondering if there is a way for me to use my global entry and still go through the door for continued travel after or if that won’t be accessible to me as I didn’t follow the specific lane for UK arrivals.

Dealing with a ghosting law firm after a crash with commercial vehicles: is this normal?

• Upvotes

six weeks into my claim after getting hit by a corporate vehicle, and i swear i get routed to a new case manager every time i call, papers i sent twice r lost n nobody gives me a straight answer

i originally signed with one of those giant billboard firms you see all over I 35, met the main lawyer for 5 mins during intake n haven't heard his voice since just lower level reps reading off a script

i ended up dropping them for trial tribe coz they actually gave me a single point of contact who answers their direct line, is this ghosting thing standard for those massive billboard shops?

Relocating & housing I am moving to DFW for a job west of Plano. Am I crazy for wanting to live downtown?

I am 25, single, and have lived in Washington DC for most of my life. I got an exciting opportunity in Dallas, specifically west of plano (I don’t really know the name of the neighborhood but its right off the dallas north tollway).

I know moving to Texas where there is far less public transit is gonna be an adjustment for me. I love nightlife, walkable areas, and generally young fun areas (I am very extroverted). I am currently in Logan circle in dc and want to live somewhere similar to that vibe. I have seen other posts on this and similar Dallas subreddits saying that the commute is hell from Dallas to Plano, but I can’t find it in me to live that far out in the suburbs.

How crazy/miserable would it be to try to make the commute work. Im also not 100% sure but I think I might be hybrid so I would only have to do it 3 days a week instead of 5. Ive read good things about uptown but any advice is greatly appreciated.

Shopping & Services Any Embroidery/Stitching spots?

Quick post, but I have this denim work shirt and I’m going to an event in a week and I NEED to find a place that can embroider this logo I made on it! I’ve called close to 7 places now and either they won’t pick up, or ghosted me after sending in an inquiry from their website.

KID STUFFS! Fun places for field trips?

I'm a teacher at a daycare and I'm currently planning for summer 2027. My class is Kinder through 5th grade students and we go on a lot of field trips, so I'm looking for new places to visit!

Our theme is entertainment, so I'm trying to find field trips that relate to movies/tv shows/video games. We're already planning on going to the National Video Game Museum and seeing some sort of play, but I'd love more ideas.

We're based in Flower Mound but can go to any part of DFW. Any idea is welcome!

Food & Drink Which Fort Worth restaurants let you hear your own conversation?

Somewhere between dead silent and a DJ yelling over your appetizer would be nice.

Where’s the food good and you don’t spend dinner nodding at things you didn’t hear?

Shopping & Services Any good honest mechanics in the North Dallas (anywhere from Plano to Prosper)?

I have 2 vehicles. Both need some TLC. One has a suspension issue and the other has a broken air vent and engine shaking when it starts. I'm happy to pay a fair price with proper labor cost but don't want to get ripped off either. Willing to go anywhere from Plano to Prosper (including Frisco, Aubrey, McKinney, Little Elm etc)

Relocating & housing Moving to Dallas, what’s the scope?

Hi! Me and the lady have a gap year before she goes to dental school, so we decided we wanted to try living in the city for a year because why not. We decided to tryout Dallas, is this going to be a mistake?

My reasons were the real estate market is good, I’m a hockey fan, I love city life and walking around, and she has family close by in Houston. I have a blast in places like Nashville, Chicago, and other big cities. Is it fair to expect Dallas to be similar to these?

We are visiting the city for 1-2 weeks in December to scope out the place and do our due diligence. Is there any specific part of the city that we should stay in to the get the best feel of city life? Also, is there anything that is a must-do? Anything to be aware of? I’ve seen so many mixed opinions on living in DFW and see some people complain about the tolls, but we don’t plan on driving much.

We visited Austin since it was our first pick, but I was disappointed because it felt Empty and undeveloped, but I could just be spoiled from Nashville’s size.

We are also considering San Antonio or maybe a different big city, but my mind has been set on Dallas for a while.

Any/All advice is appreciated, thank you!

Relocating & housing Apartments in dfw area w/o pest issues or safety concerns?

I’m looking for a 1 bedroom. Willing to pay up to 1700. A lot of the apartments I’ve liked have had reviews of roach infestations or rats which I just cannot do or they have a lot of break ins (units and cars) So I’m getting a little discouraged. Any recommendations of apartments you’ve loved would be helpful! I’d like to be at least 30 mins or less from downtown Dallas

MoveNat Groups in Dallas

Are there any groups that are similar to Edwin Le Corre’s MovNat that are located around DFW, ideally closer to Dallas? I have been wanting to diversify my physical activity with running and weightlifting becoming somewhat stale.

Food & Drink Any woman-owned food businesses available for a Dallas breakfast or lunch pop-up tomorrow, Oct. 21?

Hi Dallas! I’m looking for a woman-owned food business that could sell breakfast OR lunch at our event tomorrow, Wednesday, October 21, at Kiln Preston Hollow/The Hill.

We’re expecting approximately 40 attendees. Guests would purchase directly from the vendor; purchases are optional. We’re flexible on the menu and happy to discuss sales minimums.

• Breakfast: arrive at 8:45 a.m., serve at 9 a.m.
• Lunch: arrive at 11:45 a.m., serve at noon.
• Ideally an indoor pop-up with a simple setup.
• Must accept credit cards and have the permits needed for the setup, plus any insurance documentation required by the venue.

I’m the founder of Quinta & Co., hosting Fork, Femme & Foundations—a free event connecting women business owners with business experts. It supports HER Texas’s goal of $250,000 spent with women-owned businesses this October, which is why we’re specifically seeking a woman-owned vendor.

This is a direct-sales opportunity, not a request for donated food. Recommendations and introductions are very welcome! Please comment or message me if you’re interested or know someone.

Driving/Licenses/Local Gov't How can I find my voting location?

I got my voter registration card in the mail, and I want to take advantage of early voting, however I moved in the past year, and don't know my current voting locations.

Does anyone know how I can look up my early voting location online?

I've seen other posts also link to wait times, that would also be really really helpful.

Hopefully my boss will give me some time off so I can go vote.

Thanks y'all!

Food & Drink Looking for laid back after work happy hour recommendations near downtown

I am organizing a few happy hours for my coworkers. So far we have done Katy Trail Ice House, Happiest Hour and Mike’s Gemini Twin. Typically it’s a group of 15 - 20.

I really like Mikes because we were able to just come in, sit down, and order. Whereas ice house and happiest hour were a little harder to get enough space close to each other. Splitting checks and working with the host was a bit harder compared to Mikes where everything was counter service.

Are there any recommendations for places within 10 - 15 mins driving from the east downtown area?

Relocating & housing Commercial Realtors & Property Managers?

I wasn't sure where to seek help so I thought I'd try here. We own a commercial property that's mainly medical practices and finance brokers. We have been at 40% occupancy for a couple of years. We don't know how to market ourselves. Other office spaces have been developed around us, so the location is fine. Our building looks good, as well and we have good parking space.

We have had 2 different realtors and they have gotten zero results. We are posted in the normal spots online for commercial real estate. We don't really know how to find a better realtor or what to do to help ourselves.

Additionally, our property management is god awful and we are looking to replace them.

Any advice or references would be so appreciated.

Airports (DFW/DAL) Minute Suite at the airport - Do you recommend it?

Hi,

I have long overnight layover (8 hours). I'm travelling with my wife, toddler and baby.

We could leave the airport and stay a couple hours with my brother. Wondering if I should bother him at midnight and then take us back to the airport.

Do you recommend it?

Thanks

Relocating & housing Recs on where to stay between Denton and Plano?

I’m roadtripping down with my wife and two young kiddos to visit my aunts during Thanksgiving. One is in Plano and one in Denton.

Trying to decide if we should find an AirBnB somewhere in the middle to make it easier to see both of them. Or just pick one or the other areas depending on what’s there.

I was wondering about the Lewisville area, just from looking at a map but open to any suggestions. Many thanks in advance!

Tourism Solo Trip to Dallas

Hello, 28M from Southern CA and I'm visiting Dallas for a bit in the middle of November.

I'm going by myself and I'm mainly going for a Cowboys game but I'll be there for around 5 days and have no idea how to make my time there worth it. I've done some of the big tourist things already (stuff related to the cowboys, the JFK museum) but was hoping for tips on how to enjoy some of the perks of the city that may not be so "tourist" like. Last time I spent some time and Oak Lawn for the first time and that was a great and fun discovery.

I really enjoy Dallas and plan on visiting more often so any suggestions is greatly appreciated. I will be staying near downtown and plan to uber everywhere (except the game).

A little about myself is I love being active with Pilaties, would love to see some nightlife, and hear any suggestions on local business to eat (any food type is okay). Im pretty much open to whatever, just kind of want to plan somethings to ease the anxiety of going by myself.

I did read and take notes of some other suggestions from prior posts on this sub but figured it doesn't hurt to also seek suggestions myself.

Airports (DFW/DAL) DFW Airport late 80s early 90s ambitious terminal rebuild question

Hello from Cleveland!

Would the proposed new linear Westside terminal for AA be called “Terminal 5W” on the landside, south if the south taxiway bridge/current U/C Terminal F and its satellite pier as “Concourse 3W” as the airside, along with the proposed identical eastside as “Terminal 1E” (landside, north of north taxiway bridge and Terminal A) and the airside as “Concourse 3E” unless if it was built instead of the current Skylink/Terminal D/F?

The proposed satellite piers would be oriented north-south, parallel to International Parkway, and the west satellite pier would span between Terminals B-F, while the east will ultimately span between Terminals A-C. Both are connected by underground trains to their respective landside terminals.

Edit: I’ve never been to DFW Airport and my dad has connected there via the SkyLink train system when I moved here in the US back in 2022, and I am very interested to learn more about the history of airports.

Shopping & Services Attorney recommendations for a homeowner dealing with neighboring construction in Dallas?”

I am seeking recommendations for a reputable Dallas-area attorney who represents homeowners in disputes arising from neighboring residential construction, drainage, and potential property damage.

Experience with municipal permitting and Texas public-records requests would also be beneficial.

I have raised specific concerns with the City of Dallas, but their responses so far haven't addressed my substantive questions. My open-records request remains unresolved, and the City has referred it to the Texas Attorney General for review. Seeking assistance through my council representative's office has not yet yielded the answers or records I need.

I am not claiming that the records will necessarily establish wrongdoing. I need to review them to determine whether the construction and the city's handling of it comply with applicable requirements. In the meantime, construction continues, and I'm concerned about protecting my property and meeting any applicable deadlines.

If you have retained an attorney for a similar matter. I would appreciate the attorney's name, the general type of issue they handled, and your experience with their responsiveness and fees. Referrals to reputable organizations that can help identify appropriate counsel are also welcome. I'm keeping identifying details and supporting documents private.

Thank you for any constructive guidance.
