Posting a question? BE SPECIFIC!

Dallas/Ft. Worth is a HUGE place! There are literally thousands of restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, shops, and museums. There are 30+ neighborhoods and suburbs in Dallas alone, each offering different draws for different people. There are over 700 Dallasites on this sub ready to give you advice on where to go and what to do, but we can't do that without some level of input. So be specific! Give us the details! If you go to a shoe store and tell the clerk, "I need shoes," that isn't going to get you anywhere. What size? Color? Material? Occasion? That's the kind of info that will get you some answers.

DON'T ASK: Where should I live?

DO ASK: I am 25 years old with no kids and a cat. I want to live somewhere quiet with parks close by and easy access to a major highway. My budget is $1000 mo. for rent and utilities. Having to drive to entertainment is fine, I love using gas. I like white walls/carpet and vertical blinds. Where should I live?

DON'T ASK: What bar should I go to?

DO ASK: I like reggae and expensive cocktails. I don't mind going to a seedier part of town, but would like there to be on-site parking. Good bar food is a plus. Where should I go?

You cannot possibly give too much information. Pile it on!

Edit: A few great suggestions from the comments:

DO: Tell us where you're coming from!

DO: Tell us where in the metroplex you're searching for something!

Pets/Animals ISO Temporary Cat Foster/Shelter

Hello! I am in need of a temporary cat foster home or shelter for my kitty, Kali starting next Wednesday. She is vaccinated, spayed, fully potty trained, independent, playful, and good around kids and okay with other pets if introduced properly. I need about three months of temporary shelter hopefully less than that. I can help provide food litter, etc. I would love to stay in contact and visit if possible. She is very chill, not a fighter, will run and hide but comes out for treats. I reached out to dallas animal shelter and Dallas Pets Alive Pass program. Waiting to hear back. Lmk if there are other resources I should reach out to. 🫶🏾

I wish I could add pics of her 😺

Relocating & housing Looking for good home builders

Hi all,

I just went through a hell of a time with Lennar and won’t be using them at all. What builders/areas do you recommend? Looking for an already built home, move-in ready under 400k. At least 2bd 2ba is needed.

For more context, I work near DFW airport and my mother works in Flower Mound (my roommate). The previous place we were going to get was in Haslet in one of the newly built communities. A 30 minute drive to work is fine with us.

ETA: I already live in the metroplex, just moving from an apartment to a “forever home”.

Thanks in advance!!

Relocating & housing Townhome Hunt

I hope everyone is enjoying their day,

I was hoping that you all could provide some insight to a few townhomes that might fit my criteria. My budget is $1,400- $1,500 for a two bedroom/two bath town home. It must have AC/in-unit laundry/dishwasher, aesthetically speaking I would prefer tall ceilings but it’s not a requirement. If you guys could help I would really appreciate it.

Health & Hygiene King Spa

I haven't been to King Spa in Dallas in over a year. The last time I went, a lot of the jets in the pool weren't working. Has anyone been recently? Are the jets working now, or are a lot of them still out of order?

Food & Drink Bars/Restaurant recommendations near(ish) to AT&T Stadium?

Giving some friends a ride to the concert tonight, I'm thinking on staying nearby and watch the Thursday Night Football game in the meantime before picking them up

Any recommendations within 15/20 minutes? Not looking to drive back to East Dallas then back again for them. My best option at the moment is LA Fitness 😅

Relocating & housing Looking for an apartment/flatmate in the Valley Ranch/Cypress waters Area, Irving.

Hi everyone! I’m a 27M working professional looking for an apartment or sublease starting November 1st.

Preferred locations: Preferably Cypress Waters, Valley Ranch, or anywhere around Irving, Dallas.

Budget: $1000 to $1,400 per month, depending on the location and amenities.

Housing preferences:

  • Open to a 2B2B or, if it’s a good fit, a 1B1B.
  • Open to joining an existing lease or finding a flatmate to look for an apartment together.
  • Prefer a clean, well-maintained place with convenient access to grocery stores, restaurants, and major roads.

I’m friendly, easygoing, and respectful of shared spaces. Looking for a like-minded roommate who values cleanliness, mutual respect, and a comfortable living environment.

If you have a room available, are looking for a flatmate, or are interested in apartment hunting together, please DM me with the details. Thanks!

Relocating & housing Apartment/Condo recs in Oak Lawn/Medical District

Hi, I will be starting a new job in the medical district and my husband works in Waxahachie. I'm curious to hear recommendations from real people about apartment complexes that they've had a great experience in in the Oak Lawn/ Medical District/Lovefield/even Uptown areas. I see such mixed reviews of so many apartments. We are pretty open as far as amenities and cost but would prefer to avoid any dark underground parking garages and prefer surface lots if possible. Open to any and all suggestions!

Sports/Sportsball Dallas Mav Game

Hello all, just moved to the DFW in April. Is it worth seeing a Dallas Mavs game? Any one know a time of year where tickets are reasonable? Haven't seen a NBA game in ages! I know American Airlines Arena is in uptown, so don't know if it's worth going.

Food & Drink Cocktail Lounges?

I’m flying into Dallas for a weekend and am looking for a cute cocktail lounge / bar that takes reservations and plays decent music. I know a lot of these places do rnb on specific nights , but I’m looking for a Friday night vibe that I can also have a table to sit at. It doesn’t have to be full rnb just not like constant house or overly uppity vibes? Let me know if this exists 😂

Tourism Things to do in downtown Dallas

Hello everyone! I’ll be visiting Dallas for the first time next week and will have one day to explore. Since I don’t know anyone in the area, I would love your recommendations for places to visit, restaurants or cafés to try and activities to enjoy on my own around downtown. Any suggestions to help me make the most of my day would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Best locations for street photography of people?

I’m looking for a few locations for a class assignment where I need to photograph people in action. It can range anything from doing sports, exercising, working, etc, as long as it’s an area with a variety of people doing different things.

I would prefer to avoid downtown areas however I understand there are likely great locations there.

Relocating & housing Mixed family relocating for work. Would love honest feedback about Plano, Coppell, and Allen.

Hello! My family is relocating from Central Florida to DFW for work. I had the opportunity to visit for a weekend and have narrowed our search down to Plano, Coppell, and Allen.

I’m second-generation Cuban American, my husband is Black, and our elementary-aged son is a beautiful mix of both. We lean more liberal and are fully aware of the political climate in Texas. We’re relocating for work, so I’m hoping for insight into the cities/communities themselves rather than advice to avoid Texas altogether. 😂

I’ve been researching schools and neighborhoods, but demographics and ratings only tell me so much. I’d love to hear from people who actually live here, especially other interracial couples and multiracial families. Do you feel comfortable and welcomed? Have you been able to make friends and find your people?

For parents, what has your kids’ experience been like at school? Have they experienced racist comments or exclusion? If something happened, did the staff take it seriously and handle it well? I’d love to hear positive experiences too. I’m looking for an honest picture, whatever that looks like.

Are there particular neighborhoods or elementary schools you’d recommend? How do Plano, Coppell, and Allen compare in your experience? **Are there other areas we should consider** with strong schools and a welcoming, family-friendly community?

We’re excited about the move and want somewhere we can put down roots, build friendships, and raise our son feeling comfortable and proud of who he is. Thanks for anything you’re willing to share. 🤗

Feel free to DM me if you’d rather not post publicly!

Relocating & housing Apartment Finder Companies for Fort Worth

Good morning y'all,

I finally found a job that will pay the bills after looking up here post grad school graduation for almost 100 days.

I accepted a position out of SW Fort Worth and I'm looking for places near the North half of Ft. Worth that I can afford and are also quiet/safe.

My budget is up to but hopefully less than $1,200/month.

Do yall have any companies that you can recommend that will help me find a place by the end of October?

If you personally have any recommendations id be happy to hear them too.

Hoping to find something closeish to the Riverside area or surrounding suburbs, only because that puts me less than 30 minutes from the friends i know in the central dfw area and less than 30 minutes from work.

Relocating & housing Apartment Recommendations

Hey everyone, I have narrowed down my list from 33 places to 12 places that I want to actually tour and pick from based on location, commute, and quality. I am looking for advice from anyone who knows about these apartments, has lived there, or the management.

- The Franklin at Samuels Ave (Fort Worth, TX)
- Harlowe (Euless,TX)
- Adeline at Centreport (Fort Worth, TX)
- Mosaic Dallas (Dallas, TX)
- Factory Design District (Dallas, TX)
- LTD West Commerce (Dallas, TX)
- 2201 E Arbrook Blvd (Arlington, TX)
- Ironcrest Apartments (North Richland Hills, TX)
- Ascent at Mountain Creek (Dallas, TX)
- Birchstone Cedar Ridge (Dallas, TX)
- Aven at the Cove (Grand Prairie, TX)
- Alpine Creekside (Haltom City, TX)

If you have lived here, worked with these places as a locator, or have known someone who lived there please provide all positive and negative feedback! I am hesitant about the Greystar owned ones since that company has a ton of horror stories, but each one is different!

Shopping & Services Floor installation

Who do you recommend for floor installation in DFW? It would involves removing mostly carpet and one small section of tile, and installing vinyl flooring and vinyl tile. Ideally someone affordable who also handles moving the furniture out of the way. Thanks!

Food & Drink Any DC bar recommendations for MNF in downtown Dallas?

In town for work next Monday and hoping to watch the MNF game at a good spot - even better if it’s DC sports aligned

I’m staying downtown Dallas so would ideally be located there

Thank you in advance!
