I have two dogs and am struggling to find the right sitter, and am looking for recs! We have a car so can drop them off anywhere in brooklyn, but are looking for reliable, trustworthy sitters who we can feel safe leaving our dogs with. We've had some poor experiences lately, most recently with our dogs coming home and seemingly have not had any water in a while.

Not trying to use rover so hoping someone in the community can recommend someone they really trust and have zero anxiety about leaving their babies with.

Thank you!

Does anyone know of any bars in BK or Manhattan that are hosting a watch party for the Rent 30th anniversary show livestream?

If you are a bar in BK or Manhattan, will you please consider hosting one??!

LOST DOG! Hi all. Around 640am this morning on my way to work there was a loose dog on Rogers and Lincoln. It was dark so some of my details may be wrong but the dog appeared to be a pitbull or a pitbull mix, gray fur, and may have been wearing a blue harness. No owner in sight. Seemed very scared and got a tad aggressive when I tried to approach or even encourage him to come. I didn’t want to leave since he was on such a busy road but I had to because of work. I called 311 who directed me to the 911/NYPD. I gave them all of the info mentioned above. Have never been in this situation before so I hope this was the right way to go about it. Unfortunately I couldn’t stay until they came… I hope the owner can be found!!

Couple of vehicles from Department of Homeland Security just possible on Van Brunt and Verona streets in Red Hook. Possible ICE activity.

Looking for a good disco spot (or DJ to follow) for this Saturday. Would love any suggestions!

How much are you paying for optimum online internet in Brooklyn? Someone told me they are paying close to 100 dollars now for Optimum Online and I believe it's the 500 Mbps plan. They told me it used to be like $50 or even less and then went up as time went on. They told me back then when the price went up to 70 dollars a while back and they called, the customer rep lowered the price to $50 or so but it was for a year I believe. The price kept going up every year but now it's close to $100.

Does anyone who have Optimum Online pay this much for this plan? It's on autopay as well and I couldn't believe that it still cost this much. Has anyone called Optimum recently and then get a discount on it? Internet only should not cost close to $100 a month. If you were able to get the price down, how much did you get it down to? How long did they guarantee that price for before price went up again?

The only other available internet providers in their area are Verizon and T Mobile 5G. It seems even with Verizon FIOS and the 500 Mbps plan, it's $75 a month unless you are a Verizon phone customer which they are not. There is a $99 activation fee as well? As far as speed is concerned, I think any 300 MBPS plan would probably be good enough right? T Mobile 5G home internet is probably not as reliable as your main internet? I did read the speeds are very good but sometimes it gets very slow?

I am coming to town for an event near the Brooklyn Heights Library and would love to keep most of my exploring to that area. (I tend to want to stay in a small area and get to know it a bit better, rather than going to three separate spots in a massive city and missing out on sweet little pockets of life.)

It's an exceptionally short trip (about 24 hours), but I'd love to fill the time with coffee, seeing lovely spots for people watching/writing/photos, interesting bars, and of course eating as much as I possibly can manage. (I particularly love pizza and italian.)

I need reccomendations for an inexpensive funeral home that does cremations and viewing before such. I flew in from New Orleans last night but he lived here. So I dont need too much ceremony. Its just gonna be me , his significant other, my son, and maybe a cousin. I will be having services in New Orleans. Im not even sure what to ask. I keep hearing the funeral home usually takes care of everything.

I'm hosting a first birthday party for my son in mid March next year and would love to keep it in South Brooklyn (Sheepshead Bay, Marine Park, ect) if possible. Most of the guests will be adults so it doesn't have to be super kid-centric. Any ideas for 20-30 people on a Sat or Sun brunch time? I was looking into places like Mouette but theyre super expensive :(

Bonus points if food can be included.

Our toddlers share an odd sized room so we are looking for a carpenter to build two custom sized beds with removable guardrails for them.

Does anyone have a local recommendation for a carpenter?

Got a varsity jacket at a flea market and need it cleaned. Sleeves are genuine leather and rest of exterior is wool. Are there any dry cleaners in Brooklyn that can deal with this? Thanks

unbelievable. What could they possibly be thinking…

Anybody been to the “Haunted Hotel” running at the LeFrak center this month? Or otherwise to the harvest festival activities set up around it? Considering buying tickets with friends but have heard nothing about quality. We’re in our late 20s and looking for something comparable to a Six Flags haunted house, without the trouble of driving out to Six Flags. Thanks!

I had a summons for jury duty today. I went and went through the jury selection process for a case. That selection process took us until about 5:15 pm after jury duty hours. The judge says we’re not selected for the case. Since it was past 5pm I left but now I see I still have my jury served card but no one ever signed it.

Is my jury duty over? Do I need to go back tomorrow to get it signed? When i asked the security guard about it he said it wasnt a big deal.

Anybody here old enough to remember or had attended St. Gregory elementary school on Saint John’s Place in Crown Heights in late 60s?

Looking for my package that got delivered to wrong address!! Thanks!!!

Hey, I'm planning on going to a concert at Barclays Center and wanna buy a cheap ticket in the 200s, but don't really wanna stay there the entire time. I've been able to sneak to the lower sections and first bowl at other venues while having a ticket in the 200s. I know there's sometimes security checking tickets for the lower sections, and obviously for the floor. I've never been to Barclays before for a concert, so I'm not sure how possible this is. Thank you!

I've relied on them for music news for ages now. Always via RSS. The RSS feed hasn't worked for months now, my email asking about it went unanswered, and I'm not seeing any updates to recent shows that they usually would cover. Has something changed?

at the Muna concert in Brooklyn on May 16th, some peeps were walking around with a camera and sunglasses. they asked my best friend and i to put on the sunglasses for them to take a photo for a collage of sorts. anyone have any idea where i could find those?

I was about 5 years old when the movie “the ex” 2005 came out and I grew up 2 blocks away from sunset park, so about a year later when the movie came out on DVD we watched it, didn’t understand about it, all I remember was one scene, (a kid eats a burger whole). And at the end of the movie I say to my mom “isn’t that sunset park” and she says yes, I always thought this was a fever dream, because I always remembered this. Flash forward 12 years later this memory I still remember but I don’t know what movie it is, until one day I watch “the ex” 2005, i see the burger scene and I get a flashback, so I continue the movie and I DONT see the sunset park scene, so I think to myself was I dreaming, did I not really see sunset park. I rewatch that movie like 4 times, and still nothing. I am now watching the DVD version and again (different dvd same movie) and AFTER 20 YEARS!! I SEE IT, it was real! (Check photo)

I always questioned why would a movie would film in sunset park of all places, I think they filmed in Micheal’s church on 43rd (could also be a fever dream) but filming must have taken place 2004 if anyone was there to witness it? I also made a post about 2 years ago on Reddit asking if anyone knew what the hell I was talking about (the scene is of a pickle riding a skateboard) kinda hard for people to take me seriously LOL.

Trying to foster a dog in Brooklyn, applied to multiple rescues, not hearing back. What am I doing wrong? It's frustrating also because they keep sending automated emails saying they need fosters asap but when I reply they don't respond.

Here's where I've applied:
- True North Rescue - approved as a foster last month, but multiple emails have gotten no response
- Social Tees - applied. Their process is basically "watch our Instagram"
- Rescue City - nada
- Sean Casey - applied months ago, nada

Is this normal? Do NYC rescues just not answer emails? Anyone know which ones actually place fosters quickly, or have a lead on a kid-friendly dog that needs a foster right now?

Thanks!
