Review Coffee Lab’s Pumpkin Spice Latte (in a Pumpkin) is Delish

Post image
121 Upvotes

Been admiring pumpkin spice lattes in pumpkins on TikTok and Instagram. These spots (to my knowledge) are always out in Long Island or up in the Hudson Valley.

Anyway, when I saw Coffee Lab was doing it, I had to go. So good! I showed it off on a work call and everyone was jealous. If you like a fall treat I’d recommend. I think they are only doing it Fridays and Saturdays in October.

Also, you can get it with biscoff cookie too!

General Discussion Rant- can people who are coughing on the subway PLEASE start wearing masks again???

Train tonight was absolutely PACKED and this woman was literally hacking up a lung, not even covering her mouth. Literally just looked chill like she didn’t care at all. Wear a fucking mask!!! Or at least cover your god damn mouth! It’s disgusting and the train is already crowded enough.

Donate/Volunteer Extra food

I work Saturday programs at a public school and they end up throwing out a lot of bagged breakfasts and lunches. Is there anywhere I could donate or leave these for people to take? I feel so bad watching all of the food get thrown out!

Question Muted Entity

Those who have went in so far, what’s your consensus on Muted Entity? Since they have limited open hours, I’m planning in swinging by tomorrow after my run. I saw their prices and noticed it is a dollar or two more than spots like Balencero, Mighty, but I never say no to trying a new coffee spot, so looking for some input.

UPDATE: Seems like you need to take in the laidback culture, and that will have to be for another time. I dont mind it now that I am aware, so will go when I have some free time! Thanks everyone

Seeking Recommendation: Other Best espresso in Astoria for coffee snobs?

Looking for recs from fellow coffee nerds. I only care about espresso quality: well-pulled shots, good beans, properly textured milk. My go-to orders are a cortado or a flat white, no syrups, no seasonal lattes, nothing sweet.

I’ve struck out at a few places lately (sour or bitter shots, milk steamed into oblivion), so I’m hoping someone can point me to a spot that takes it seriously.

Bonus points if they’re running a La Marzocco. Extra bonus if the baristas actually dial in throughout the day.

Where’s your go-to? Happy to venture a bit outside Astoria if it’s worth it.

For Sale DVD’s, CD’s and Video Games

Hey everyone I’m looking for a good place to take a bulk load of DVD’s, CD’s and Video Games in the area that will take everything but give a decent price. Most of them are unopened and in total there are probably between 400-700 items. The games are for different systems and the CD’s cover many genres. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a great weekend!

Lost/Found: Other Lost sunflower ring - Broadway

I know this is not likely but I’m so sad it’s worth a try! I lost a sterling silver sunflower ring around 8 PM somewhere between Lockwood and the synergy gym (when I realized).. i didn’t notice when exactly it fell off, but I know it’s out there somewhere between those.

I tried looking but no luck. If someone happens to find please let me know!

Thank you l!!!

Lost/Found: Other Does anyone recognize this vestibule? FedEx misdelivered my package🫠

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi Astorians! I was waiting on an urgent package, but FedEx delivered it somewhere that isn't my home, and I have no idea where this is.. checked my neighbors but still found this door or the floor..
Since I urgently need it, I'd rather find the package instead of go on the long journey of a missing package claim… If anyone in Astoria recognizes an entrance(front door) that looks like this, could you let me know the address..?!
If posting addresses in replies isn't allowed under the sub rules, please DM me instead!
Thank you so much 🙏

Question Something I’ve always wondered about Astoria nightlife (and NYC in general)

Last night around 10:30, I went to take out the garbage before bed. Since I'd spent most of the day sitting at my desk working, I figured I'd take a quick walk around the block to get some steps in.
I passed Diamond Dogs, and it was pretty lively, with a good crowd of people hanging out. It got me thinking about something I've wondered for a while: Are these the same people who are out at bars on weeknights regularly, or am I just catching different people on their occasional night out? (I know it’s different people, but I still wonder what’s the occasion the people are out for)

And if you're someone who's regularly out at 10:30 or 11 on a Wednesday night, what do you do for work? Do you not have to wake up early? Do you just function perfectly fine on less sleep?

I realize this probably makes me sound like an old man, but I'm only 33. I'm married, we have our first baby on the way, and we still go out and have plenty of fun. But whenever I'm walking around Astoria late at night and see packed bars and restaurants, I find myself wondering about the lives of everyone inside.
Obviously, it's NYC, and the nightlife is part of what makes living here great. I'm not judging anyone. I'm genuinely curious.

So, to the people I see out on random weeknights: Is this your normal routine, or did I just happen to walk past on your one night out that week, month, or even year?

Experiencing a bit of a renaissance of my art interest and have always wanted to be better at painting. Are there any affordable places to learn or am I better off sticking to YouTube?

Thanks in advance!
