So I got a nail in the side of the tread of my tire. Tire shop says they can’t fix it cuz it’s on the side. Tire shop says I need 4 new tires because of the AWD system on Subarus. My car and tires only have 6k. He did mention that you can try to find a used one but drivetrain could get f*cked, warranty voided etc. Advice/experience/thoughts appreciated.

Is this a blown head gasket or a turbo leak? New engine? Am I cooked?

Has a ej20, a new vf39 turbo. Catless Nvidia exhaust no ticking or knocking but is putting oil through the exhuast and smokes.

Why is my tire pressure not refreshing on my app? I have a 26 Forrester and this is the first time i ever had the app. Is this a glitch? I tried clicking refresh and it is only showing my windows closed.

Hey guys. I have a 2006 Forester with 275,000 miles on original engine and trans. The motor is fine. The car is running. However I’ve been having an itch to rebuild a Subaru motor myself as a learning/fun project. Also wouldn’t hurt to have a backup motor when this one finally goes. I want a motor that’s not completely destroyed. But I don’t necessarily want a reman motor or a motor that’s in perfectly good shape. I feel that would kind of take the fun out of it for me if the works already been done. I’ve searched around marketplace and eBay and I can’t seem to find a motor with issues. It’s mostly just ads about reman or lightly used engines. I want to keep the engine in my forester because I use that one as a utility vehicle around the house. So where could I source a motor that’s may have some issues or isn’t already I. Good shape? My local junkyards seem to have nothing in the Subaru department. Let alone the exact engine I need. Was hoping somebody here would know a decent source of them. Any advice is appreciated. Feel free to give me some tips on the rebuild process as well! Thanks in advance.

I tried to get a three day subscription to the official Subaru PDFs, but all I get is a 404 error page not found, so can't even sign up. Not a good start if it's going to give me issues on a time limited subscription.

Does anyone have the third party manuals like the ones from Factory Manuals at about $200? Are they any good?

Any advice appreciated. Please don't post things like "why do you want a shop manual if it's a 26" response. Thanks

Im doing an engine swap with my 2014 subaru legacy. The previous engine has about 170k miles on it, and failed due to disgusting amounts of overheating. Based on the extremely sparkly coolant, I'm pretty sure the previous owner thought stop-leak was some kind of miracle cure.

I'd like to get some of my money back, so I was hoping to disassemble parts of the engine to sell online. We're pretty sure the head gaskets are blown, but it didn't have any evidence of oil in the coolant or vice versa.

My main question: What is worth savaging to sell online? Main considerations are the selling price, ease of access, and weight since shipping might be expensive. Any advice is very appreciated!

We were out of state for our kiddo's cross country meet, and realized we probably lost one of our remote engine starter fobs running around the fields 😬. What's the best way to get the fob replaced? We have both car keys and one starter fob. We're bummed since we just got the Subie this month. 😭

Hey! Never owned subaru, in fact its my second car ever, currently rocking volvo xc90 2006 d5 for a year but sadly it shows its age. Outback have 78000 km or 48400 miles on it and 2.5 FB25 124kw engine. I am not a car enthusiast, but i would be happy to learn what to check, look for and how to properly maintain this car.

Lights are on and cigarette lighter works but 0 sound from it. Any tips behind I just shrug and take it to a mechanic

I really like ChrisFix videos so something remotely similar but with Subarus would be awesome.

Mr.Subaru used to be a great channel but the last few years it's just been really lame algorithm farming videos and lame top 10s.

Car Care Nut is an incredible channel but he pretty much exclusively does Toyota/Lexus.

October 2026 now with 10 years if life and me owning it for a year. 200,000km on the odometer.
Mods/upgrades:
Roof racks and front light bar and a towbar, has a full size spare wheel. Otherwise it’s completely stock and it is still running like new and gets serviced every 6 months or about 10,000km.
CCT oil changed at about 80-100k and I plan on doing it again next year around April or May depending on how many km I put in it.
All chrome has been blacked out
Issues: occasionally enters limp mode when using 95 premium unleaded but it has stopped doing that for now strangely. And all the door speakers have basically quit existing except for a very crackly bass on the drivers door 😂.
I’m driving this car till it dies it’s extremely safe and practical
