** NEW VIDEO - FFB sim racing controller done RIGHT **
This game controller makes me question whether everyone actually needs a wheel and pedals. It’s going to allow those who can’t use their legs to compete at the highest levels with minimum compromise.
I feel like a bit of an imposter here, so just curious if there's more like me out there.
I love sim racing hardware, the rig, constantly tinkering and upgrading - getting the most out of it. But honestly I just bounce off the true serious sim racing games - iRacing, Assetto Corsa, etc. They just don't click as "fun" for me, at least not yet - maybe I'm just taking the scenic route to get there.
I started building my rig telling myself I would grow into the true sim titles but just haven't happened yet.
BUT - I'm having a blast getting all flavors of casual and arcade racing games fully functioning on my rig.
Forza Horizon series, Grid series, Gravel, Dirt series, literally any racing game in Teknoparrot (particularly Outrun, Sega Rally, Daytona, Initial D). I particularly enjoy rally games.
Pictured I took a recent recomp of F-Zero on SNES and got it working with real native wheel support, telemetry, and triple screen support - because why not. Is it accurate and optimal? Of course not. Is it fun? Absolutely. Second pic I modded Art of Rally for bonnet cam and first class wheel support - and it's an absolute blast. I'm happy to share these mods but haven't gone out of my way to do so because of the anti-AI sentiment on most subs (I am a software dev but AI was used heavily).
So to my actual question: are there like-minded people there - maybe discords where I could share some of my progress and mods adding wheel support / FFB / telemetry / triple support to more casual games? Or just talk about arcade games on sim rigs / wheel setups?
Rig for those interested (been slowly building this for almost two years now):
ASR 4 Chassis (several frankenstein parts added to it)
Moza R12
Triple gigabyte 32" 1500R monitors
Logitech Z906 speakers
Gauges from etsy seller
Sim-magic DS-8X shifter
Sparco R333 seat I got off FB marketplace
The company acquired it from a driver who's ranked 2nd in INDIA as per the FIA website.
All the electronics like the amplifiers for the Haptics, the VRS Motor driver for the wheelbase, control box for the Heusinkveld Pedals, adaptor for the Fanatec Shifter etc are all under a compartment under the pedals. I've never seen a simulator with a compartment like this to house electronics on the Sim. Maybe the first time someone has done this (I could be wrong).

This simulator has a piece of NASCAR history. The Yellow lug Nuts on the spring isolators are from a NASCAR cup series car which raced at Daytona in 2024. Making this simulator extra special. Here's reddit post I made about it . https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/s/TEdEzbOwtl
The rig is completely isolated from the floor which makes the haptics very immersive.
The Heusinkveld Pedal on this simulator are not in their original form. They were completely dismantled , restored, polished to a shine, serviced, modified before putting them back together. The results speak for itself and they look amazing. https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/s/CGK170TksA

This Sim has the VRS Direct force Pro wheelbase. Probably the best wheelbase I've experienced till now. Hard to choose between these and the Simcube Ultimate 2 Pro.
One the best features of this sim is the RaceConsole Stream-XL button box made by Reaperware. Setup and adjustments are super easy with the Stream Deck XL. Highly Recommended . we also made a custom mount for it.

For safety , we made a dual button kill switch for the VRS Direct Drive. Dual button was necessary so both the operator and the user of the Simulator can cut off the torque in case of an emergency. As far as I know, there no OEM solution for this. We just made a custom kill switch for this . https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/s/zyvxr0W2z7

This simulator has the Fosi Audio SK02 DAC and the Beyerdynamic Dt 770 Pro Headphone. Headphones and DAC used by Audiophiles. For both of them custom mounts were designed. We also used the existing BOAT soundbar and mounted it on the monitor stand.
It's got the Fantec Clubsport Shifter and 6x Dayton Audio BST-2 Bass shakers. The bass shakers are directly installed on the seat. This way the vibrations area localised and very distinctive.

The Monitor stand has a hood on top of it. It made of one piece of Aluminium. It shifts the perspective and makes it very immersive. The first thought that came to mind after installing it was the "Batmobile".
The bezel free kit and the monitor alignment using the Vesa Adaptor Kit make the screen perfectly blend in . Would Highly recommend the Bezel Free kits for anyone using triple screen monitors.
Cable management on this Sim took as much time as assembling it. A member of the community gave the valuable advice of adding service loops to cables.
A huge thanks to everyone in the Community for all their input and feedback while we were working on this simulator. Thank you for sharing your thought and experience with us.
Here are all the previous post made this community on this simulator.
So I recently upgraded my logiteck G29 and plaseat for a Trackracer 120s V2 and Moza R12 and CRP 2 pedals. Absolutely love it so far is been an incredible difference to the G29, braking on the load cell is a nice improvement. Force feedback reduced a little to 11nm and AC and iRacing have lots of detail. Been driving mostly GT cars.
Question - looking for the next upgrade, currently between a few things;
the simulation is quite simplistic rather than a full-on physics-backed sim like angethegreat's one. this does mean it's cheap to run CPU-wise, this one's running in the browser. which means something like this could be used in sim engines.
lots of engine layouts are possible and sound (to my ears) fairly good, including rotaries! no 2-stroke engines yet. I'm also not quite happy with how the burbles/pops sound.
turbo stustustustu is there in some of the cars, as well as straight-cut gear whine, and supercharger whine in the r53 mini. I'll record some more clips demo-ing these.
the cool thing is plugging in configs from real engine parameters, and having the result sound pretty close to reality with a bit of parameter twiddling. the v10 for example has that major-3rd harmonic interval that sounds so cool.
I went a bit overboard and had too much fun with the doppler flyby feature, and a 'tunnel' toggle. and the silly engine animations.
edit: I am a software engineer and have been passionately creating side projects like this for over 10 years, pls don't let the sloppy ui distract from how cool these engines sound
This is a major dev update! Virtual Karting now has procedural texture creation for the track surface, curbs, barriers, and tunnels (a new object type).
What else is new? I can now straighten track segments between selected points at the push of a button. Tunnels can be created on segments the same way, and lights are automatically placed on the tunnel ceiling.
Next up: many more features, a more user-friendly UI, a timing system, automatically distributed track sections, an automatic start/finish and warning light system, save/load, and more.
I’ve finished setting up triples and was wondering if it’s worth it to get bezel deleters. From what I’ve seen they look alright but can be pretty finicky to work with
I have 32” any thoughts about this or if there is any difference you notice with it or not
Using a SC2Pro, currently own a Conspit round wheel but it's not the quality I'm looking for, also pretty annoying to need a cable. Any recommendations for a wheel that would complement my Ascher very nicely?
I’m reaching out from Bangladesh to get some honest advice from people in the real motorsport and sim-racing world. I need a reality check and guidance on how to navigate my path.
My Background & Situation:
Education: I’m a final-year Mechanical Engineering diploma student completing my internship. I have a solid understanding of car mechanics, aerodynamics, and race track dynamics.
Family/Financial Background: My father works as a taxi driver in Dubai to support our family, and my mother is a homemaker. Financially, we are struggling, and we don't have the backing required for real-world motorsports.
Racing Experience: I completed the first stage/certification at a local racing academy using simulators, but I had to step away after realizing they were exploiting students financially without offering genuine career pathways.
My Goal & Dilemma:
Racing is my absolute passion, and I know I have the skills and knowledge to perform well if given a chance. However, I know real-world racing requires massive sponsorship and money, which I don't have.
My current plan is to move abroad after finishing my diploma to either study Motorsport Engineering, work as a race team mechanic, or pursue sim-racing seriously.
My Questions for You:
Given my humble financial background, is it realistically possible to transition into motorsport (as a driver, race engineer, or pit mechanic)?
What are the best global routes or scholarships for a mechanical student from South Asia looking to break into the industry abroad?
How can I leverage Esports / Sim-racing (like iRacing / Assetto Corsa) without spending thousands on a high-end rig?
I would deeply appreciate any honest advice, harsh realities, or practical roadmaps from anyone currently working or racing in the industry. Thank you so much!
I've always dreamed of going back and playing the best racing games from every console generation, but I'm having trouble putting together a list of the all-time greats. I grew up playing exclusively on PlayStation, so there are probably tons of amazing games from other consoles that I've missed.
For reference, these are the racing games I had the most fun with on each generation:
PS1: Ridge Racer Type 4 (R4)
PS2: NFS Underground 2, Midnight Club 3 (wasn't really into Gran Turismo until the PS3)
PS3: F1 2013, GT6, DiRT
PS4: Driveclub (this game is insane!)
I'm not necessarily looking for the most realistic or technically impressive games, just the ones that are genuinely fun to play, even today.
What racing games would you consider absolute must-plays, regardless of console or generation?
EDIT: so many awesome replies so far, many games i've never heard about before
So, long story short, I want to sell my Asetek equipment - Forte pedals, Forte wheelbase, La Prima Formula wheel. The brake feel isn’t my favourite, nor is the design of the steering wheel. It’s comfortable and people have point when saying it all looks way better in person but still it doesn’t suit my taste.
So I was thinking about upgrading and I am now wondering between the options I have:
1.) Moza R16 + Moza KS + mBooster brake and CRP2 gas -> the wheel looks cool, I really like the design as it looks like the old Williams F1 or Red Bull pre-V6 steering wheels. I would trade 2Nm of the wheelbase if the active brake is that big of an advantage. A bit of an expensive option, 1800€.
2.) Simagic Alpha Neo + Simagic P1000 with haptics on the throttle and clutch + MVH Studios RSR Core 4.0 -> probably the best steering wheel that I have the money to buy, I adore it and I really like the company behind it and their philosophy. The wheelbase is as powerful as my current one, the pedals are very very popular, modular and with haptics. It’s also quite a lot cheaper as well actually -> 1600€.
3.) Moza R16 + Moza KS + SimLab XP1 / P1000 with haptics / CRP2 with haptics. It’s by far the cheapest option at around 1200€ and then I can spend on triples or VR. Might actually be able to have some haptics as well and this is why I am including not only SimLab but also Simagic and Moza - they have haptics kits that are ready to install but I don’t have any idea which ones are the best. I am not really sure if I have the space for anything more than 27” triples. I don’t really have the best experience with VR headsets but I have tried only 1 set two times so maybe people praise VR for a reason I don’t know yet.
-I know this will be polarised and there will be people praising haptics, triple monitors and the mBooster so I need as many opinions as possible that are as descriptive and neutral as possible. Huge thanks in advance to y’all!
I play on xbox (fanatec wheel) and do a mix of ACC and PMR but mostly singleplayer because most the online servers on console are pretty empty, how do i find a league or a group to play with more often. I'm not super competitive and am just looking to chill and hopefully get to learn from some more experienced sim racers if possible. Thanks!
I've been working non-stop on completing the sim this weekend and in true game development tradition, it isn't quite ready yet :)
However, we now have:
- The first dynamic weather simulation effects - volumetric clouds, fog and haze
- A big update to the dynamic lighting in the Revival Engine. Magic hour light racing now looks much better, inspired by the epic scenes at Sepang last weekend
- The all important 3D cockpit view is much further along, wing mirrors are clearer and work realistically, detail levels are insane (will be great when I add VR) and the driver's perspective camera system now has a lot of custom controls in the menus - including realistic (but not over the top) head movement, and road forces that are 'felt' through the first person camera view. This really gives the game a sense of extra spark and energy without being distracting or fake.
I've also been working on the way paint and reflections work... The GP4 CSM 1988 car pack mod has materials, like alloy and paint, or carbon fibre. Revival Engine now supports these, so sunlight glints and blooms off metal, and glossy paint looks real. I now have some snazzy screen space reflections for the cars and a customisable wheel hub (e.g. Adrian Newey's favourite duck egg blue hubs for the March 881). In the final version, there will also be a grid girl editor.
Pit stops are working and tested. The original 2D sprites are kept for the crew and effects - they're an important part of the GP2 charm. Keep an eye on www.gp2rev.com for the free download and if you're interested in beta testing it, I'm open to that. I want to ramp up the attention to detail further and squash every remaining bug before the first demo hits. Wanna get it right.
At the moment its using GP2's original physics and AI, which are actually very cool. In future, it'll expand to be almost a new GP sim entirely with it's own handling model and AI improvements.
But the charm of that original, is what the current game is all about.
So. I have £350. Currently I have a thrustmaster t128, I'm looking to upgrade. I have no particular brand that I'm looking for exclusively, I'm open to all recommendations. What would you recommend? Keep in mind that I mainly play ets2, beamNG.drive, and assetto corse
I’m considering the BDH H1 shifter, but at around €560 (in second hand that is nearly new) I’m wondering if it’s still a good buy in late 2026 or if newer options have caught up (or surpassed it) for the price.
I don't mind the only H pattern
For those who own or have tried it:
How are the build quality and the feel (gates, precision, mechanical feedback)?
Any reliability or software/compatibility issues?
Is it still worth the price, or would you go for something else at that budget?
So I'm working on building a whole set up for my birthday and christmas so everyone can pitch in money to buy it but one thing that comes with that is like a console or pc and I have no clue what to use. I personally like Formula one and Indy car most so I'd love to be able to do something like that but I'm a complete beginner and idk what's best or most realistic so any help would be great cause I'm not trying to have my family spend a bunch of money on this only to not have what I want when it comes to the actual game play.
any recommendations would be great since I'm an absolute beginner.
