Discussion Why is play/pause reversed in the new app?
It's highly infuriating, confusing that the play and pause buttons are reversed. This is not how it was in the old app or other streaming players.

I, like many of you I assume, have a android TV box along with a smart TV. AndroidTV has updated to the new app and some subtitles that were working yesterday, on the old version are out of sync in the new version. I talking about a show I left in the middle of yesterday, was synced, and now it's not. If I play It on my TV, which hasn't updated Plex version for like a year it plays fine.

Running Plex Server: v1.43.4.10903
I was going through the playback history on Tautulli when I spotted something interesting. The transcoded bitrate was significantly higher than the source. Is this expected behaviour?
I understand that H264 is not as efficient as some more modern standards, but a ~3.5x increase in bitrate seems odd.
Any help in understanding this would be highly appreciated!

hi all, i know plenty of people have complaints about the new app, the design being bad etc; but theres some issues i havent seen mentioned and was wondering if anyone else has experienced these.
i remember seeing a comment somewhere of someone recording issues so if that person sees this please add these to the list
one issue is when on an apple tv and the screensaver overlays, if you have a pin set up, trying to input the pin will start playing the media. you still have to put the pin in to actually see the media but its playing underneath.
(the keypad layout is imo a lot more annoying to navigate on an apple remote than when it was a straight line)
the second issue is in the browser client, when choosing actions for a server in the side pill menu (such as “scan library files, etc) which hang off the pill menu; the pill menu will stay open blocking part of your screen until you mouse back over the pill and mouse off it.
which is an annoying change given the menu didnt used to block anything before the update.
a further question, has there been any word from plex regarding the new app? bug fixes or the general unpopularity of many of the changes? i havent seen any but i could be looking in the wrong place.

Probably don't need another one of these posts but I gotta add to the violence.
The app on the Nvidia shield was perfect before. Put it back. I paid for lifetime ages ago and I'm this close to moving to jelly. 🤏
Hello guys - I'm stuck scratching my head trying to figure out where to download beta versions of Plexamp...
When I sign in to my account (plex pass) and go to downloads > Plexamp > Windows it shows the latest download available is version 4.12.3.
Can anyone help me understand where beta downloads for plexamp are located?
See below for the announcement of the latest beta release:
https://forums.plex.tv/t/plexamp-release-notes/221280/122Desktop is out on the beta channel now, and mobile is on its way to TestFlight and Play testing. Mostly desktop polish from your feedback on the new layout, plus a lot more keyboard.
Added
Desktop: Aural Fixations has its own section in the sidebar.
Desktop: Shift and a letter jumps a library grid to that letter.
Desktop: Backspace goes back.
Desktop: track rows light up on hover and stay lit while their menu is open.
Desktop: sidebar sections crossfade.
Fixed
Desktop: arrow keys work as soon as Plexamp opens, without clicking into the window first.
Desktop: Esc no longer takes a full-screen window out of full screen while there’s somewhere to go back to.
Desktop: settings switches and the letters beside library grids can be reached with the arrow keys.
Desktop: going back to a library section from the sidebar returns to where you’d scrolled.
Desktop: artist pages no longer flash black on a return visit.
Desktop: visualizers keep their shape in tall or narrow windows.

I have multiple years of photos on Plex and when using Plex Photos app the folder list works fine but the timeline (which is more useful) just spins. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Currently I use Plezy for movies & tv, & Kodi PM4K for music. Plezy, as of now, is essentially a mobile app for music even on Force TV mode. Plex HTPC is on life support. I prefer PM4K on Kodi over PKC, but even with it automatically opening to PM4K it’s slow, & I’m wasting my Plex Pass features. So maybe the new Plexamp desktop which I understand really is a desktop app now? Or more or less? Desktop still is not the same as true leanback, but maybe it beats the alternatives? I know about Caldera or just using my phone, but that isn’t my bag, & I also don’t want to leave Plex. So just curious if anyone has tried the new Plexamp on a HTPC, & if so, what you think. I’m running Kubuntu 26.04 btw. Thanks.

What's going on with this feature? I have let it run non stop now for 3+ weeks and only now has it finished all 1300 movies and moved to my 400 TV shows.
This cannot be normal? How can I turn this off?

Running latest trunas OS, Plex 1.43 revision 1.3.16.
In truenas Plex app config for network setting chose use host address.
Have port forwarding set on Plex and router. Both have correct random ports
Remote access will say it's connected after hitting retry option (port setting within Plex website). But after a refresh or changing pages remote access will display as unavailable.
However, I'm able to access my media on certain devices (through app and through windows website) outside my network such as ps5 and Plex dash app.
Any tips?
I have already tried with firewall disabled and still no luck
Hello all, just a question about Recently Added. I keep a mirror server as a backup to the server I use for myself and family. The server I use for friends and family is a Beelink mini-pc. The mirror server is on my Lenovo Legion desktop.
Recently, something happened with my Beelink (maybe an update) and the Beelink server rescanned all of the movies - this made the Recently Added section refresh in alphabetical order, which screwed up the entire section. Obviously, my desktop server wasn't impacted and the proper order remains.
Is there some way to be able to move the Recently Added data from the desktop to the Beelink mini-pc so that it fixes the order in Recently Added? Or am I screwed?
Thanks :)

Who the hell has $1,200 burning a hole in their pocket
Are the people who run Plex smoking crack???

since it’s been updated, when I’m browsing episodes of a show in the tv app, stuff keeps autoplaying in the background. for instance, for king of the hill, it starts playing the intro when I’m looking at episodes. How do I make it stop?
i've been using a Synology DS218+ with two 2TB drives (4TB total) to host my Plex server over the past 10 years (yes, I have Plex Pass).
so far, it's been okay - but I'm slowly running out of space. thus, I got a Beestation Plus 8TB.
I would like to migrate my server and data as seamlessly as possible.
I presume my steps would be:
I know many folks don't like the synology, but I'm fine with them and they have served me well (I bought mine off ebay, so Synology is not making any money off me if that makes the nay-sayers happy).
thanks for any guidance and help.

This new app is a slow buggy mess - who signed off on this?
Did the team from Sonos move over to Plex?
Is there anyway to downgrade, or am I just stuck with the awful slow app now?
r/PleX • u/Independent_Catch_21 • 1d ago
I can live with it being a bit slower.
I can live with redoing my preferences.
I can live with the giant thumbnails and small text.
But please when you make such drastic changes, give us a choice!
Misc new issues (CCwGTV4K):
I know I know, sideload old version. But this shouldn't be required and I'm lazy. 😄
Since the update, my Plex instance has been transcoding every HDHomerun stream. No matter the settings I set up. I just tried Plezy, and getting stable Direct Stream/Play at the server level now.
I would prefer to stick with the OEM Client, so I am wondering how you got Direct Play/Stream on the new client?

Hi, I have a few playlists that I share with my users. I have always known that it was a bit tricky to direct users to the "Shared" section to find these curated playlists instead of finding them in within "Playlists" as everyone would assume. But ever since the new update, I'm unable to locate shared media on the user side. There seemingly isn't a "Shared" section to be found anymore... Anyone have any insight?
Super frustrating that this is so complicated to navigate, especially when I'm utilizing playlists to help some of my more tech challenged users.

Running on UnRAID 7.3.3. Port is manually forwarded and the Plex container is running on the Host network. Setup has worked flawlessly for years and issues just cropped up yesterday. I can ping plex.tv from within the container without issue. Any ideas?

Didn't see anyone else with this issue so I wanted to ask...
I'm getting this message on my Nvidia shield (same account) but it works fine on my phone... Any ideas?
Been a lifetime holder for years.

In the recent UI update, when media is playing, they show the play icon for you to press to pause it, and when it's paused, you select the pause button to play it? I don't think I've seen another media player do it this way.
