Sirianni Vrabel, and Glenn all find 250,000 for conduct towards the referees.

When I read this tweet from Rich Samini, it’s a good thing I wasn’t drinking anything because I would’ve had a spit take.

I can’t speak to Nick Sirianni. I don’t follow the Eagles closely enough to know what his beef is. But as for Glenn and Vrabel, Two things:
One, where does Mike Vrabel get off complaining to the referees about anything? Where was I on that particular day where the patriots didn’t get a call, or conversely, that day where they got a call that they didn’t deserve? Next to the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes, if there is one team in this league that has no business whatsoever bitching about the referees… Is the patriots!
Two, as for Aaron Glenn… Good for him! One of a few things he’s done that actually makes me proud that he’s our coach! If he can’t bitch about the referee, screwing his team, who can? If he didn’t make so much money already, I would actually start a GoFundMe to help pay that fine.

The 2 times I feel like we actually got robbed by the refs

NEW TITLE: “2 notable times I feel like we actually got robbed by the refs”

Time #1: ASJ fumble touchback. This game was in 2017 and the winner would (for now) be on top of the AFC East. After the touchdown was signaled, a Patriots player made physical contact with the official to get them to look at the play. The patriots player was not ejected.

But in all fairness, I also hate Todd Bowles for smirking after the ruling was made. Although he was laughing at the rule/call, Saleh would have lost his shit. Yeah he wasn’t a good coach but still.

Time #2: That Bucs Game where Antonio Brown quit. Also known as the game where ZDub did a QB sneak on 4th and 2 and blew a game to Tom Brady.

While that was Antonio’s last game, the thing I’ve still be wondering was - shouldn’t AB have gotten a flag? He ripped his shirt off and ran across the playing field without a shirt. Although this was between plays, anyone at the stadium or on TV would see this is inappropriate.

Why do people want Aaron Glenn fired?

If they fire Glenn why do people think a well established coach or even an up and coming offensive guru would decide to come be a head coach for an organization like ours. During the last head coaching search Aaron Glenn was the ONLY highly touted coordinator that even wanted to come here. Ben Johnson and the others would have never come here.

(un)Popular opinion on the season thru week 6

TLDR: My grade: B-. By the tape + advanced stats, they're not great, but not bad. Both O-Line and D-Line are massive disappointments. Geno is really good. Garrett Wilson deserves better. They're 3-3 talent-wise and a few plays from 4-2. Execution is the biggest issue. Glenn could improve, but he has the team playing competitively.

I watched the games, rewatched a lot of tape, and looked at a f-ton of advanced stats. A lot left to be desired. Not nearly as bad as some people think. But so, so, so, so f'ing many missed opportunities. Braelon has been better than expected. Geno needs to take more chances, give his playmakers opportunities. Belton could be all-pro. Sadiq gets wide open A LOT. 2027 draft picks looking good.

Why B- ? We shouldn't have expected a Super Bowl team. They've been competitive (except vs CHI). Clearly better than last year. They have a lot of solid core pieces to build around.

6 at NE L 19-26 49% vs 43%
  • My model's expected wins: 2.97. Luck: 27th. Could be 4-2 based on tape.
  • NE: won success rate 49% to 43%. But 0-3 in the red zone, 3-10 on 3rd, 0-2 on 4th. The 2 failed 4th downs: -6.4 EPA. Convert both, and the Jets likely win.
  • GB: 92% peak win prob. Fell apart in the 4th and OT.
  • DET: coin flip; game could've gone either way.
  • CHI: 32 plays to their 90. Didn't show up. Ben outcoached Aaron.

Glenn - up and down, questionable management, but team playing competitively

Stat Jets Rank
Final 2:00 of the 1st half, Glenn era (23 gms) 6-100 (-94 point diff) 32nd
  • 4th downs: play calls fine. Execution bad.
  • Lots of questionable game management calls.
  • Missing key players for stretches: Parham, Breece, AD Mitchell, Mason Taylor, Ossai, Minkah, Cooper Jr.

TLDR: Grade: B-. Middle of the pack by EPA and DVOA. A few glaring holes and coaching mismanagement. Garrett is elite. Both O-Line and D-Line are not good. The offense dies past the 50. Glenn's team competes every week but can't execute to win the games.

Feels like a great opportunity before trade deadline or this offseason to upgrade our o-line. Send them a mid round pick (4-5) and one of our lineman whose contract is also expiring.

A NJ native, and a veteran who can help be a leader for the relatively young offense and a rookie QB. Just need to make sure we extend him for a while if we trade for him.

Thoughts?

Week 6: 2027 Draft Recap - Colts Lose, Cowboys Lose, Packers Win

In the 2027 draft the Jets have 3 first round picks: their own pick, the Colts’ pick, and the better pick of the Cowboys/Packers.

The huge news of the day was the Titans putting up 20 fourth quarter points to come back and stun the Colts in Indianapolis. This was massive for the Jets as this looked like a sure fire win for the Colts on their schedule. As a side note, the Titans picking up their first win was also good for the Jets, as it has them off the list of winless teams and climbing up the draft board.

Someone had to win when the Cowboys played the Packers, and the Packers dominated to pick up the win. The Cowboys continue to slide.

So at the end of Week 6, the Jets currently have the following first round picks:

#6 Overall (Cowboys’ pick)
#9 Overall (Colts’ pick)
#13 Overall (Jets’ pick)
