Fortune's Weave Spoiler MLM Representation in Fortune's Weave - a step forward, then backward

(Dietrich path chapter 12 spoilers): Dietrich and Fabio are genuinely great MLM representation. Fabio explicitly declaring his love for Dietrich in a cutscene is unheard of for the franchise, and I appreciate how unambiguous their feelings are towards each other (even if you don't interpret it as romantic love, it's still genuine love nonetheless).

But looking at the game's support list and the paired endings the characters get to choose from, it kinda feels like the game stops there with the inclusion. In fact, it feels like they went out of their way to block Male/Male paired endings. Some pairs get A-Supports together, but then, suddenly don't get a paired ending (something that can also be said for some F/F pairs, such as Mu+Olympia, don't get me wrong). Additionally, other pairs that should be obvious candidates for a paired ending, inexplicably don't even get an A-Support together. In what world are the christmas cavaliers not pairable? Bonaventure and Tobias? I feel like the only way to make it make sense is if you put the tinfoil hat on.

Anyone else disappointed by the lack of follow-through? Obviously, there's a lot of discussion about the game's lacklustre support system, but this is an additional layer to it that I feel needed to also be talked about. Thoughts?

EDIT: Tobias and Bonaventure DO have an A-Support, that's my mistake. However, they do not have a paired ending together, and thus, they belong in that 2nd column, not the 3rd.

General Fire Emblem Engage worth coming back to?

I have finally beaten Fortune Weaves with almost 300 hours on the clock.

I am itching for more, but specifically just building units and doing a lot of Maps. Harder ones too! And no bloat stuff lol. Would engage be fun to comeback to for the units and Maps? Just wanna build units with the random growth and see how it goes. Hoping the stats and the tactical mechanics are still the same! And cool visuals with animations because I never once turned that off in Fortune's Weave LOL.

Casual I know it's common knowledge that Fates was rushed out but nothing shows it more than Jakob being forced to be single because I chose to play as Corrin M

Post image

I know that you can avoid that issue if you romance a 2nd gen unit or a Corrinsexual one (units that can only support Corrin) but it kinda sucks that you get locked out of a paralouge because you decided to romance Rinkah or Charlotte. I know there was something similar with Sumia in awakening but so long as you pair her with someone Robin F is free to romance any other guy she wants. Fates is on a much larger scale, one wrong move and you'll cuck one of your male units.

Leda's Route Spoiler Is there some kind of trick to the war arc I’m missing?

EDIT: thanks for the replies, realizing that I did not understand only Leda needs to make it out, and that I was approaching it too much like “how do I get all units through and have them live”

Marking Leda’s route spoiler because that’s the path I’m on.

Leda was my first route, and I actually fully replayed it before starting the war arc. I recruited almost everyone, but of course hardly used more than the maps required. In addition to the main cast, I have:
- Guzran/Shido
- Esmeralda/Cataphract
- Fianna/Bishop
- Sofia/Bishop
- Catania/Winged Soldier (Levin, levelled through hunter for a bit)

All characters were recruited as soon as they were available due to support from other paths carrying over.

I also have Kalla and Mars’ blessing fully levelled, and Aurora’s to level 1.

The first thing that fucked me in this arc is needed two more characters. I have Kiroc, Nuzzuo, Halvin, Zarcone, Jasmine, Mikaela, Loretta, Io, Simon, Dadao, Inyoni, Ninae, Noctula, Lilian, Ludia, Nydine, and Alexandra. They’re all power levelled to level 38 via the first opportunity I had to use the level equalizer.

I started using Kiroc, Nuzzuo, and Halvin because they had decent stats based on when I recruited them and using them for a few part 1 fights; and seemed useful for the first map.

I’m now on Chapter 6: Flight from Dagsion, and struggling immensely.
- Halvin/Kiroc/Nuzzuo straight up can’t hit certain units
- Half my roster dies in a hit
- in this current map my forces are split and nobody on the non Leda side can hit undead
- The miasma is everywhere and does way too much damage

Like this is a crazy spike in difficulty not just because of map gimmicks, but I haven’t been able to manage my team in like 3-4 fights. The bench is all about 10 levels lower now.

I’m just like, why is the game setting people up for failure likes this?

On other routes I’ll be fine since I have Aurora’s blessing maxed at the least, but this feels crazy. I assumed I’d have the ability to level skills/the bench every fight or I would’ve planned differently… the game handcuffs you in such a strange way.

I’m probably going to have to redo this fight, thinking:
- Give the non Leda side cleansing sword users and hammers
- Give everyone hammers
- prepare to rewind a bunch

This after the classic bullshit “double hit shield that comes back every turn also the boss heals itself”

It feels like they could fix this by just giving us more access in facilities to class changes etc.. or just maxing out blessings and have it be plot related?

Idk I had a blast with part 1 but the war arc really sucks lol

Put Jugdral and Tellius in potentially Hero-Kingverse due to older statements from IS that Jugdral is in the same world as Archanea but taking place in the distant past, while Priam's existence in Awakening combined with Ylisse knowing about legends of Ike implies Tellius could be as well. While it was said that Tellius was the only continent not submerged from the Great Flood, maybe that was retconned?

Fortune's Weave Spoiler Theory: DLC Wave 3 will add 6 Allies After Aurora, Smyrnos, and Jurah

With the announcement of the Expansion Pass and new allies included in Part 3, I’ve definitely been apart of a lot of speculation as to who those new allies may be lol. As someone who is not yet to Part 3 though, finding out a gameplay mechanic of Part 3 made me have a bit of an a-ha moment

As it currently stands, and correct me if I’m wrong this is based on my newfound understanding of the mechanic lol, the player has the ability to send out up to 5 “squads” of 8 characters in part 3, one led by Eshmel and one per Flame Lord the player has completed. I think it’s safe to say the Sub-Lords joining in a “limited capacity” is why they don’t have “squads” of their own, something that seems very very likely to change

With 9 squads of 8 characters post-DLC, you can use everyone with a 72 character roster. With the addition of Aurora, Smyrnos, and Jurah, we’re currently at 66.

I now veryyyyyy strongly believe wave 3 will include 6 more characters to get to that 72. Mars & Anna seem to be strong community bets, and I do think Kalla & Credna are doable despite not liking battle all too much, personally. Whether those last 2 are Centurio-style recruits for Cruaidín, Long, or Nomved, 2 new “neutral” mercenaries, or maybe even Elfrida herself, I’m excited to see lol

General Im having a really hard time getting into fortunes weave

I really can’t figure out why. it might be the recruitment system or the way everything’s structured, I can’t just can’t put my finger on it, but regardless I’m still one chapter 6 and have barely made progress

Gameplay Is Fortune Weave good entry point?

Hi I've never played any Fire Emblem game before and I wonder if that's good starting point. The most similar game that I've played to FE is Final Fantasy Tactics. Also how bad are the side activities and overall padding required to boost characters?

Fortune's Weave Gameplay Dungeons ruin the game.

Pointless task that don't feel rewarding and make me want to put the game down. I already hate running around collecting things. I wanted a tactical rpg. Not an open world collect and gather rpg.

So far Fortunes Weave has been the most dissappinting FE I have ever played.

Does it get better? It feels like a chore right now.

General Spoiler The epilogues of Fire Emblem games could be nicer if they were written in the style of the epilogue of Tear Ring Saga Spoiler

While I was playing the animations update version of The Last Promise. There was one specific part of the story that I thought could be improved that I think applies to the official Fire Emblem games of the series. And that is the epilogues. (Was thinking of maybe writing a discussion post about The Last Promise and talking about some of the mods adjacent to it that could not be completed such as The Last Promise 2 and The Last Promise Hard Mode.)

I was never fond of how even though Fire Emblem games are games that take a while to finish, I often feel like the endings of most games of the series are way WAY too short for stories that take a long while to finish. And the main reason for this are the way the Character Epilogues are written. Not fond of how the Character Epilogues are just short text narrating what happened to the characters after the story. Just telling and not showing what actually happened. (A few of the games whose way too short endings really soured my opinion of the story are Echoes and New Mystery Of The Emblem.)

My opinion on the story of Tear Ring Saga is very mixed, leaning more towards the side of not being fond of it and despising how there are a few good writing ideas on such a messy story. (Something I realize is that I despise the writing style of the author.) One of those few good writing ideas is how the epilogue of the story is written. The epilogue of Tear Ring Saga takes hours to finish because the story shows every character of the team that survived returning home and what are they are going to do now that the conflict was resolved.

On one side I can imagine that the epilogues of Fire Emblem games could take way too much time if they were written in the style of the epilogue of Tear Ring Saga, on the other side. As I mentioned on a post talking about one of the Thracia 776 novel adaptations. I am really not fond of the gameplay limitation of the series of how most of the characters that are not important to the main story just disappear into the background because of the permadeath mechanic. (And on a similar note, I despise when there are moments of Character Development that are only shown in support conversations that are not shown in the main story.)

Epilogues in the style of Tear Ring Saga are at least a option to remind that the other non plot important characters are still there. However now that I am mentioning this, the characters having no importance after they join the team yet still appearing in epilogues in the style of Tear Ring Saga evokes the vibes of celebrating for breadcrumbs.

Considering that even when playing mods I still just felt disappointment at the short endings and text only epilogues, I am thinking if maybe I should just stop playing this series and move on to a different series. Maybe I just want to feel some sense of validation that my 2nd playthrough of The Last Promise was not a waste of time however I think that discussion should probably be left for a discussion post after I complete my 2nd playthrough of The Last Promise.

Comments are more appreciated than upvotes, I guess...

Gameplay FE6 Hard chapter 4.... WTF

I don't know how anyone can play this. I don't think I can get past this chapter without sacrificing someone, at the VERY least using Merlinus as a decoy. Bors dies after being attacked two rounds. Lance and Allen barely do enough damage and the counterattacks they receive do even more damage. Wade and Lot... forget it lol. Even Dieck can't hit reliably. I guess this is the first time I have to completely forget about EXP distribution and throw Marcus in to take and deal most of the hits, as opposed to using him to set up kills.

Fortune's Weave General Observation about the easy to recruit characters in part 1

In most chapters of fortunes weave the game will position a character right next to the mission board you start the chapter at. Unlike most other characters who's position is somewhat random they will always be there anytime you enter Dagsion during the chapter.

Every time a new deployment slot opens up in the main chapter mission this will be a support 1 recruit so you have a convenient option to fill your roster should you so desire. The other characters here are support 2 so they aren't that hard to recruit either. Sometimes the tips Anna gives will even suggest recruiting these characters.

In a way these feel like the "intended" recruits people love to theorycraft for for each path.

General Do people in Fodlan even know other lands also have Gods and Crests ?

• Upvotes

Someone likes merchants or nobles might have travelled around the world and interacted with people from another lands and might have known about the gods and people with Crests.

They might even bring back to Fodlan some kind of legendary artifacts that have connections with gods from other lands. They might also bring their friends or lovers, who either the followers or descendants of the gods, back to Fodlan.

So how Rhea gonna explains to people that Fodlan is not the only land that has Gods and Crests ? She cannot hide everything forever.

Fortune's Weave General Who will be the final boss of each of the four rival lords be?

• Upvotes

Obviously, for Talimun and Orchel it’s Maria and Iliana respectively, but what about the other two? Both Betrand’s and Anatolia‘s final match in the game in Theodora forfeits, so who would they even face?

General Should i start FW and come back to 3H at a later date?

Because of a youtuber i watch, i started playing fire emblem for the 1st time. i started on 3 houses because i had heard how popular it is but fortunes weave came out this year and its apparently just as good, if not better.

I am thinking about pausing 3 houses to play the newest fire emblem because its a recent game and once game awards come through, i can vote on it if its good enough.

I am indecisive though so once again i am leaving it up to redditors.

I just got to the part in houses where seteth's sister is missing but im playing so slow that i wont finish the game by the time the nominations are out so that is why i am considering pausing it for now (I will 100% return) so i can play the relevant game

Fortune's Weave Gameplay I hate specific dungeons that force you to exit just because you walk near the exit

In Chapter 9, Theodora’s path, there is treasure chest in the map before the final battle. I walked near the exit after this red beeping thing and I didn’t realize it was the exit.

The game then forced me into the main battle. So annoying. I see that the item I missed was the Dew of Peace, is it worth getting?

My only option is to restart the chapter. I’m not doing that for a single treasure chest. But I might if it was something valuable. Can I pick it up later from this dungeon if I revisit?

Casual Fortunes Weave - 30 fps

Hi,

I noticed in trailers and showcases that Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave is in 60+ fps. Even in game small tutorial like videos, are in 60+ fps. I really like the game, but I feel that it is very misleading that they show in game footage, that is not how it is like in real life.

Anyone else noticed this or feel that it kinda sucks? And is it even legal?

PS: I will continue to play the game, just like I did multiple Three Houses sessions, that are also in 30fps..

General What's your favourite way to make use of outclassed units?

• Upvotes

Context: Working on a GBA Romhack where one of the key points is a much smaller cast and little/no benching people. (More like a Final Fantasy party than your usual FE cast)

This means that I need ways to keep units that miss key growths doing something, rather than sitting around being dead weight.

Using stat minimums for promoted classes should help a lot, as will being able to give staff access or lock touch to units (via supports), but looking for other ideas too.

For example, my Jaegen is a paladin with Staff access, who has a terrible magic base, but an insane Mag growth. As he drops off, he becomes a staffbot in the mid game, and able to use a Levin sword to decent effect in the endgame.

Fortune's Weave General FE: Fortune's Weave team planner

Thumbnail

Hello there,

I'm currently working on a little tool to help plan your team in Fortune's Weave, you can check it out here: https://fefw-team-builder.kennedyroliveira.workers.dev/

You can check characters and their stats/abilities/combat arts/spells and when they learn stuff, gifts etc.

Create a team based on a route and setup all the classes you will go through and their abilities, combat arts, magic and inventory, and your builds with others, like this sample here (note it's just a random sample, not an actual build, don't go following it :) ) https://fefw-team-builder.kennedyroliveira.workers.dev/s/u#v1.RYxBDoMwDAT_4nPyAb6CODiJC1adBDkGVCH-XoVK5bgz2jkhwgCJyZTjAg6iwDCeN50FE6NVhcv9SP5o5lTLH7SFU33WUTVlbEbPxRbyQTAROOCywzAClnaQknpUblRgchCxiyC1JiEzLrNfZWtdvbu5yy9k7ZlAzRjFc143aZ3QTup3nlmwGDhAzVUp-VhzQIPpmq4v

I attached some screenshots of it.

Keep in mind this is a work in progress, and I'll be adding more features, including the ability to share a whole team setup later.

Currently only supports part 1. Once I reach part 2 and 3, I'll be adding more specifics.

It works offline as well, and from the phone, everything is local, no account is required, although I'm thinking about adding an optional account to share between devices but will see, want to keep it as simple as possible.

Let me know what you think, share any suggestions, ideas, and bugs if you found anything broken.

Casual Radiant Dawn

I previously posted about playing path of radiance for the first time and enjoying it, and a lot of people convinced me to go straight into radiant dawn and it blew away my expectations. Story wise, characters, map design was all an improvement from PoR, and as some pointed out, my main man Ike is even more of a beast in this game lmao. With that being said part 3 chapter 6 was some bullshit, how it abruptly switched to micaiah smh. I was severely unprepared, I got lucky tho and came out unscathed (shoutout to Black Knight

Casual Question to fix RD bonus EXP.

hello people. I don’t exactly know if this is the correct subreddit to ask assistance in, but I’m doing it anyways. I was messing with hacks on my dolphin emulator and forgot to reset it when opening a separate save. Now my bonus exp is set to the max. Does anyone know if there is a way to reset it?
