Why is this intersection designed like this?!
I just drove through this interchange. Why did they design it this way?!

Do I actually need a printed reservation for the ferry?
I just made a reservation for the Port Townsend/Coupeville ferry, and the website says I need to print out my reservation to present at the tollbooth. Is that actually accurate? Will there be an issue if I just show up with the barcode on my phone? I’d imagine a lot of people don’t have regular printer access these days, I can go to the library if I need to but would certainly rather not. Thanks!

I'm starting to think that WA conservatives intentionally write initiatives so that they will be overturned by the courts even if they pass.
Now everyone hates the vague crazy language all initiative writers use to cloud whatever is going on (this is a nonpartisan problem), but this goes a bit further.
Initiative IP26-645 repeals a tax and defines what income is. Even if it passes there's basically no way it gets through the court.
The initiativeers are so bad at writing these, it makes me think they're doing it on purpose:
- There's good income in running initiatives, ask Tim Eyman.
- Intentionally pushing something to the court to get overturned feeds a political narrative about 'activist judges' and encourages the sense of wrathful impotence that seems to be what the right wants to engender in conservative voters.
Am I crazy? Are they just incompetent?

Tax bill on the ballot
I’m going to vote against removing the so-called millionaires tax but Washington needs fundamental tax reform. The B&O tax is onerous and a disincentive for small businesses, property taxes and sales taxes hit the young, young families, the elderly and the poor with substantial bills that destroy savings and entrepreneurial ideas. Maybe Republicans could abandon their “cut spending “ litmus tests, snd Democrats could stop funding everything that sounds neat, and they could work on real tax reform for a fair and just tax system that doesn’t penalize the real job creators: our small businesses and their employees!

Brain Dead Alleged Retirees Make Absurd Claim that their Pensions are Subject to the Millionaires' Tax
OK, billionaire scumbags, if you're going to invade my texts (partial screenshot above) with your blatantly laughable lies, I must respond.
Stop lying. Pay your taxes. Contribute your fair share.
And if you are somehow a retired public employee who improbably and magically makes over $1 million every year in retirement income, you can pay your fair share of taxes, too.
If you, against all odds, managed to become a multimillionaire on a taxpayer-funded salary, then you should absolutely give a little back so that we can extend those state-funded services to people who also need them into the future and pay a liveable wage to those who are providing them in the years to come.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Trying to find Company I, my WBW 2001 group @ Gonzaga
This is probably the weirdest thing I’ve done on the internet in a while, but I’m going through a bizarre phase of my life, and I really want to reconnect with people who made a positive impact in my life.
From June 25th to 29th, 2001, I attended Washington Business Week at Gonzaga University. Our group was Company I (Illumination Tech) and our advisor’s name was Lisa, who I believe worked as an insurance agent (I’d like to say she worked for PEMCO?).
If you’re not familiar with WBW, it was like a summer camp meets business conference with a company simulator element. We did terribly, but we all bonded fast…like a lost friends group that just clicked. I'd love to find any of them. In my head, the result would be a reunion, either in person or online.
If you recognize anyone, please lmk or, better yet, reach out to them and share this post so they can make that call for themselves. I’ve already emailed Washington Business Week to ask whether any records from that session still exist, but I kind of doubt they have anything.
Names from the back of our photo: Stephanie, Erica, Darla, Christi, Nick, Bryan L., Bryan B., Chris, Lai, Nichole, Laura, and me (Ash).

Lake Quinault Lodge converted their main lobby fireplace to gas
I stopped by Lake Quinault Lodge today on my drive down the 101, and I was pretty bummed to see that the massive, historic wood-burning fireplace in the main lobby is fully gas now Half the reason I loved hanging out in that lobby on a rainy day was the smell and sound of a real wood fire.

Any Leftist Groups in the Olympia Area?
Reddit quite literally refuses to let me post in the Olympia group, all 9 attempts were refused by filters, so sorry about this.
I am looking for a group that is centered around ANY leftist topic, from imperialism (like activists for Palestine or even ones that talk about it in general) to anti ice to etc.
I moved back to the area recently, but I'm rediscovering that southern Washington is so much less politically active than Northern Washington. The only progressive groups I can find ONLY have a Facebook or Instagram page (I'm not on either regularly), and very rarely organize anything, and that's if they even have in the last year.
To be extra clear, I mean leftist communities, not Democratic (which is politically considered to be in the center, maybe center left at most, if you google what leftism is you'll find it's not a Democrat, although it's a popular misconception that they are ones. Just please no spaces dominated by blue maga.
Does anyone know where I can find leftist groups? I can make an effort to be on Reddit more if anyone knows of any leftist subreddits for the area, but l retuse to regularly use meta, lol.
TLDR: Does anyone know any real leftist communities I can join?

Clark county, Washington Proposition 12 & 13 Question:
Can anyone tell me if these props would give the police money to buy flock (or comparable tech) as in "infrastructure upgrades"?
I will NOT vote for the police to conduct warrantless searches and invade mine and my communities privacy.
The wording is pretty ambiguous

Getting really tired of the toxicity towards anyone that's skeptical of the millionaire tax.
Any time anybody, including me, mentions being skeptical of it, or worried that it will come down to hit everyone else, or not really trusting it, you get an immense amount of toxicity.
I've been called MAGA, told I'm a Russian propaganda bot, that I'm stupid and watch Republican podcasts, and just overall insults and bullying thrown my way about how I'm insanely stupid if I'm not in full support of it.
I don't really understand this. Why is it so wrong to be skeptical? Why is it stupid to be worried? What is wrong with thinking about it? Why am I not allowed to have any reaction other than "Hell yeah! Tax the rich!"
They have never once promised it won't come to the rest of us. It's not in writing, it's not in the bill, they haven't mentioned this at all. There is reason to be worried about this.
But you aren't allowed to.
You just get swarmed by people insulting you and saying you're either stupid, a bot or MAGA and that's the only reason anyone would ever be skeptical of it.

There were at least ten other people who had parked at the scenic view point to also admire the sunset. Lucky to live in a state that's beautiful all over!

$49 million settlement reached in wrongful death lawsuit of Vancouver teen
Any thoughts on this?
“In a statement Tuesday, the school district said none of its staff failed to make mandatory reports to the state, and that district staff members are “well-trained and understand their mandatory reporting responsibilities.””
Someone dropped the ball
The payout seems excessive.
“Evergreen said the school district’s insurers made the decision to settle, to “avoid the risk of a jury verdict exceeding the district’s available insurance coverage.”
