Hi people! I made a post on Yik Yak a few days back about how I wish our school had a Costco Club (saw that some UC schools have them and got jealous 😅).

Someone replied "Be the change you want to see" (shoutout to a legend btw), so I realized I should actually try to make this a real thing!

As for the club itself, I'm taking inspiration from other schools and think it could be fun to have group warehouse runs (maybe we call one of the local managers and see if we can get clearance for a group meet up) as well as food oriented events (maybe like a Costco trivia night with pizzas or other social sessions?). Seems some students also just like having a place where they can budget by splitting bulks of items with others! I'm open to any ides & suggestions!

Pun intended. I’m new here so I’m not trying to beat a dead horse but the food court quality is very weak.

After touring a large handful of college campuses, UW beat them all in terms of campus beauty, but that food court fell short.

Since my classes are a haul from U District storefronts, I’ve been sampling each one a couple days out of the week.

The weakest has been the Indian food, which makes Trader Joe’s frozen meals look like homemade excellence. The Chipotle/Qdoba clone just makes me wish I made the haul off campus. The Panda Express clone is like licking salt, unless you cake an entree in sugar and get the orange chicken. The pizza is the strongest, but it’s tough to mess that up when you’re feeding hungry college students.

After seeing made to order omelettes, on campus Cane’s, Cava, Panda, etc elsewhere, really wish they could step it up and bring in a couple bigger names. Even an on-campus locations of hit food carts, which I’ve seen in some places as well for local flair.

I would love to have an on campus Cane’s, just to cut down on that insane line in the Udistrict. That would be elite.

Any advice for best options at the food court, or what you’d like to see?

This has been my first quarter at uw and I got here from being a great student but now I feel like I’m completely failing. I literally am failing one class I tanked my midterm. I slept through my graded attendance class this morning and I know it’s not a huge deal but it felt like the last straw. I’ve been dealing with a lot of health issues that make me miss classes and on top of that the material is so much more fast paced i feel like i’m totally drowning. I know it’s normal for people to not do as well their first quarter but I feel like i’m letting everyone down even though I’m trying as hard as I feel like is humanly possible for me right now. I barely ever go out or anything i’m always working on school going to review sessions sitting at home and studying. I just feel like a miserable failure.

Curious if all the people who post about not making friends have reached out to each other and made connections, has it helped, if that has worked for some people would a friend seeking megathread be useful?

I got admitted in the Ms accounting program at Tacoma campus and am planning to join it in winter. Can you share your reviews about it.

Checked my balance on MyUW on the day tuition & payment was due, aa well as the days leading up to it. The balance was $0 nothing to pay. I just got an email saying I have an overdue payment for HFS, is that completely separate from MyUW? Going to financial aid in the morning, but How possible is that I can take out a loan, if the payments overdue? Bit worried right now

Hey everyone! I recently lost my keys on my walk from 15th Ave all the way to the Ocean Teaching Building (OTB) and was wondering if anyone by any chance has seen/found it?? I had a late class so it could possibly be left in the building and locked up but in case it isn’t, it’s on a purple UW lanyard, there’s a key and circle tag attached, my UW id, and a small Smiski keychain on it.

I (19f) (2nd year) would consider myself an extrovert and can chat up any time, anywhere, anyone. But So far it seems as though a lot of people are closed off and mostly have a friend group from high school, and those that are open to becoming friends never go through with plans. Is it me mistaking politeness as an interest in actual friendship to form or is everyone just superficial. I havent joined any clubs so far, ive been to 3events (all separate from each other) but what if i go to clubs and it ends up with me meeting the same people in different bodies. Im totally hopeless for the time being, i know in order to enjoy my remaining 3years i need community, what can i do differently to create that community? I dont shy away from asking somebody to hangout but it just hasn’t worked so far

im a 18f first year living on campus and im really struggling with finding friends. it feels like everyone has a group but me. i try to put myself out there but its hard to find the balance between being open and pushing too much. I know this isnt a unique experience, but still. none of the clubs are really interesting to me (which is crazy because theres so many), and im getting really discouraged. im on campus all the time, so weekends get really hard when people go home every weekend. pls lmk if anyone wants to hang or has any ideas, i really want to make college worth it !! 💔 💔

I've played soccer, love marvel movies and old rom coms, singing, reading, and watching reality tv !! im also leaning towards teaching as my major (i love to babysit and all that) so if we have anything in common lmk!

I know there are Tai Chi and Aki groups but I was specifically looking for Hung Gar group. I know there used to be some folks that did it at the IMA last year but I havent heard or seen anything about Hung Gar specifically and Im hoping its still going on.
