hi im 23, nonbinary/trans, and a grad student and wants to do more weightlifting. I’ve been working out inconsistently for a few years now so I know a bit but I’m still a beginner.

i’m looking for a gym buddy that would be down to go together ~3 times a week early in the morning. like around 7 or 8 am. open to any genders but queer people preferably.

Campus Life Seattle freeze or Seattle me?

I’ve been having a hard time making friends. I’m friends with a few girls in my cluster but they all have their own groups of friends they regularly go out with. I acknowledge I’m not putting that much effort into making friends because I’m trying to maintain my personal life and grades. If I had a decent group of friends, that would be great but then again idk.

Discussion Hall Health lied to me about student eligibility then billed me

The scheduler told me I was an eligible student covered by the SAF then apparently I actually wasn't according to some fine print and got billed. I called the front desk, and they said they could maybe waive it but then never got back to me. I also applied to financial aid which is the biggest hassle ever you need like 5 bajillion documents. Can I file a formal dispute of the charges? Go to the office of the Ombud? Has this happened to anyone else?

Discussion should i have a bad schedule or take G H 101?

hi everyone, im planning my schedule for winter quarter and im really lost on what to do. im currently deciding wether to take ENV H 111 and have a pretty chopped schedule where i have class everyday with large blocks in between, or have a really good schedule where i have to take G H 101.

from everything i've seen, G H 101 is one of the worst classes at udub. could i please hear from people who have taken G H 101 and what you feel the best choice may be here? im just quite nervous about how bad it'll be especially since ill be taking chem 142 and i am really bad at math/sciences.

Discussion Discussion about CHEM 237 (O chem)

It's Week 3 in O chem and I actually find this course so fun although it is a lot of work trying to understand the processes, but I didn't feel overwhelmed like Gen Chem. What are any of your thoughts for those who took O Chem or are taking it right now?

I was just happy about this course and wanted to hear some opinions and stories! <33

Discussion Has anyone done the Master of Finance program?

I went to a well-known flagship university for my undergraduate in accounting (not in Washington), and I am trying to move back to Seattle where I lived for a while.

I currently hate where I am with my career and would like to come back to Seattle, which is easier said than done.

I am aware that there are a lot of other things that I could do to get myself there, but I am very interested in pursuing a graduate degree and the University of Washington would be my top choice.

Has anyone actually done the master of finance program?

Discussion How hard is LING 200?

Hi guys, I'm currently an Anthropology major who's really interested in taking the ANTH versions of Sociolinguistics I & II, however I know that LING 200/400 are prerequisites for those classes. I was curious if anyone here has taken LING200 here and would mind telling me what the course load or course content was like, since I am trying to fit it in next quarter along with 3 classes that are more math and data science heavy. Thanks!

Discussion Do professors/instructors receive a notification if a student drops their class?

I just dropped a course, like a third of the way into the quarter. I did this due to lack of interest in the material, and also because I honestly wasn't doing well anyway.

Does the professor/instructor receive a notification that I did this? Or do they notice that I've disappeared from the roster, and stopped showing up to class, so they put two and two together?

Basically, I ghosted them. I'm too ashamed to admit that the class wasn't for me. I never e-mailed or talked to them about it. Do they view this as rude, or do they not care?

Discussion UWMathFinder: free past UW math exams and practice problems (open source)

Are you stressed about your math midterms coming up? My friend and I were too, so we built a free study tool for UW math classes called UWMathFinder. It covers Math 120, 124, 125, 126, 207, 208 and 224, and it’s completely free with no sign-up.

Website: https://uwmathfinder.com
GitHub: https://github.com/Sigma-Works/UWMathFinder

Just to be clear, this is a passion project we built as students. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the University of Washington or the math department.

If you’re taking one of these math classes, here’s what you can do on it:

  • Look through 361 past UW exams with answer keys, searchable by course, quarter or topic
  • Practice individual exam questions one topic at a time (2,000+ of them)
  • Generate a practice midterm or final from real past questions that follows your class’s current syllabus
  • Get brand-new practice problems based on real exam questions, each with a step-by-step solution.

If you’re a CSE student looking for an open-source project to contribute to, we’d really appreciate the help. The site is plain HTML/CSS/JS, and the practice problem generators are written in Python. There’s plenty to work on: new features, UI improvements, more problem generators, adding missing exams, or better testing. The repo has a CONTRIBUTING md file to get you started, and you can open a pull request whenever.

If you have feedback or spot an error anywhere, email us at [uwmathfinder@gmail.com](mailto:uwmathfinder@gmail.com) or open a pull request on the GitHub.

Good luck on midterms!
