Official Thread Nikon Announces the Z5IIC

We just announced the new Nikon Z5IIC, everyday-carry mirrorless camera designed to make the move to full-frame photography more accessible. Built on the proven performance of the award-winning Z5II, the new Z5IIC combines a more compact, flat-top design with intuitive features like Scene Modes, helping those beginning their photography journey achieve great results. The “C” stands for casual- The Z5IIC is designed around a screen-first shooting experience that helps users remain immersed in the moment, with intuitive controls and automated features for those ready to learn/.

 Main features include:

-Fast, precise subject detection AF built on deep-learning technology make it easy to capture sharp photos and video of fast-moving children, pets, sports and everyday moments. Also, new "fish" mode subject recognition.

- The Z5IIC pairs a 24.5-megapixel full-frame backside-illuminated CMOS sensor with Nikon’s EXPEED 7 image-processing engine – the same technology platform used in Nikon’s flagship cameras. Together with NIKKOR Z lenses, it captures rich color, smooth sunset gradations, natural background blur and cleaner detail in dimly lit scenes. For first-time full-frame users, that means visibly superior photos and videos with less noise and blur, even when the light is challenging.

-Scene Modes: 15 scene modes help you to get great results without first mastering complex settings.

-Picture Control Button: Quickly preview and apply built-in Picture Controls and favorites downloaded from Nikon Imaging Cloud’s growing library of Imaging Recipes.

-Film Grain: Capture photos and video with a nostalgic film look.

-Vari-Angle 3.2" touchscreen allows for Easy shooting from a variety of positions, including overhead and selfie.

-7.5 stops VR (IBIS)

-Pre-Release Capture

-4K/60p video and stereo sound and 12-bit internal RAW for pro-quality video.

-The Z5IIC is available in two colors; silver and black, allowing users to choose the one that best suits their preferences. The model is constructed of durable magnesium alloy for a premium, metallic feel.

The new Nikon Z5IIC will be available in mid-October 2026 for a suggested retail price of $1399.95 for the body only, or $1699.95 packaged with the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 lens.

Gear question Beginner - Got a new strap. Is it okay to connect like this? Any other suggestions?

Hi Nikoneers,

I just got this lovely AF-S 70-200 VRII for my new setup (D780), and upgraded my strap to the PeakDesign Slide. I was wondering if it’s okay/safe to strap this setup like this, and if not, what is your preference/recommendation. Please note that the lens did not come with the tripod foot.

Thanks for your time. Happy photographing! :)

edit: grammar.

Photo Submission Decided on a D7500! Very happy so far!

After my last thread asking about camera choices to upgrade from my D5300, I ended up deciding on the D7500. Nikon refurb had them for $499 and the one I got had a shutter count of 4. I'm very pleased with the camera so far! Basically every complaint I had about my D5300 this one solves. Not enough dials for fast control, not enough shortcut keys to change things like auto focus settings or metering, not enough function buttons, etc. The usability is leaps and bounds ahead.

I'm still having a bit of soft focus issue and I can't quite nail focus on things, but I still need to run the fine tune with my lenses and likely could just be my cheap lenses as well but so far I think this camera will be exactly what I was looking for

All photos taken on the D7500 with a NIKKOR AF-S 55-200 f/4.8-5.6G VR II

What should I buy? Upgrading camera

Hey! I have a Nikon D5100 and want to upgrade.
I’m considering upgrading to a mirrorless body but I’m not entirely sure if I should and what to do. I want something that can handle weather and rain, although not necessarily heavy rainstorms.
I’m so far considering the Z 6ii
I also want at minimum 2 lenses, zoomable. One at around 100 and one ca 18-50 area.
I don’t have anything against buying used, and unfortunately only have about 2k to use (20 000kr).
I usually photograph archaeological sites, cats in them, landscape and friends/people in lowlight (recently some sports photography as well, football, although it’s not necessarily what I want to do most)
Some examples are added (not of friends as I’m respecting their privacy)

My family and I had a short city break in Berlin this week, we were limited for space as flying Ryanair, so all the pictures here with my z5 and the 24-70 f4 lens; do wish I’d sacrificed some luggage space for my 180-600 though…

A lot of the animals are behind glass so always a tougher shot, but was pleased overall

Photo Submission Reporting back - after buying a heavily used D700 a while ago

Thumbnail

Some time ago I purchased a heavily used D700 on an impulse (seller listed as very good cosmetic conditions, with basically any important button or wheel - excect the shutter release - being somewhat sticky lol) and since then fell in love with DSLRs again (main body is a Zf, used various Fujis before, but started my hobby with a D5100 and later on D7200).

Since then, I have bought some excellent F mount lenses and I am still flabbergasted how much fun this is and how capable a 20 year old cameras remains. All jokes and irony aside, this has opened my eyes on how absurd modern product launch cycles actually are and that should probably never again buy a new (e.g. less than 5 year old) camera again.

The D700 has its limitations, they are noticable but far less than I tought they will be. High ISO noise is almost always mitigatable with fast lenses (as a grown person I can finally afford the nice nanocoated FF primes) and while 12mp heavily limit the cropping options, it seldom bothers outside of cropping.

Long story short, see attached some color images collected on my dog walks. If you think any of this does not look good, it's 100% on me and my editing skills. In many cases (not these ones) I take the OOC NEF (applying the D2X Nikon image profile) with just slight curve adjustments and am mroe than happy with the result.

Inititally I was aiming to upgrade to a Z
