Official Thread Nikon Announces the Z5IIC

Post image
599 Upvotes

We just announced the new Nikon Z5IIC, everyday-carry mirrorless camera designed to make the move to full-frame photography more accessible. Built on the proven performance of the award-winning Z5II, the new Z5IIC combines a more compact, flat-top design with intuitive features like Scene Modes, helping those beginning their photography journey achieve great results. The “C” stands for casual- The Z5IIC is designed around a screen-first shooting experience that helps users remain immersed in the moment, with intuitive controls and automated features for those ready to learn/.

 Main features include:

-Fast, precise subject detection AF built on deep-learning technology make it easy to capture sharp photos and video of fast-moving children, pets, sports and everyday moments. Also, new "fish" mode subject recognition.

- The Z5IIC pairs a 24.5-megapixel full-frame backside-illuminated CMOS sensor with Nikon’s EXPEED 7 image-processing engine – the same technology platform used in Nikon’s flagship cameras. Together with NIKKOR Z lenses, it captures rich color, smooth sunset gradations, natural background blur and cleaner detail in dimly lit scenes. For first-time full-frame users, that means visibly superior photos and videos with less noise and blur, even when the light is challenging.

-Scene Modes: 15 scene modes help you to get great results without first mastering complex settings.

-Picture Control Button: Quickly preview and apply built-in Picture Controls and favorites downloaded from Nikon Imaging Cloud’s growing library of Imaging Recipes.

-Film Grain: Capture photos and video with a nostalgic film look.

-Vari-Angle 3.2" touchscreen allows for Easy shooting from a variety of positions, including overhead and selfie.

-7.5 stops VR (IBIS)

-Pre-Release Capture

-4K/60p video and stereo sound and 12-bit internal RAW for pro-quality video.

-The Z5IIC is available in two colors; silver and black, allowing users to choose the one that best suits their preferences. The model is constructed of durable magnesium alloy for a premium, metallic feel.

The new Nikon Z5IIC will be available in mid-October 2026 for a suggested retail price of $1399.95 for the body only, or $1699.95 packaged with the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 lens.

Photo Submission Won 1st place with my photo

Taken with the Nikon Z6III and the 180-600mm f5.6 in Milan.

Went to do a photoshoot for 22 horses and put this one in a colour competition and won 1st place out of 100 entries!

I know some people will ask why I used such a long range lens and I'll be honest it was either that or a 24-70mm f4 and I didn't want to stay too close to the horse so it would feel more comfortable (also I didnt have a 70-200mm at that point)

Hope you guys like it and looking forward to adding more posts of photos in the near future! 🫶

Went today with my SO to the Nikon Museum in Shinagawa city (Tokyo), Japan. Ive seen in one place every camera and every lens in existence that Nikon ever produced. Also the hospitality was really warm. At the end you could take a booklet (they ranged only in the Z cameras), i took the one of a Z8, since I own it. They packaged it in a Nikon museum envelope. Also there is a shop where you can buy some small memorabilia stuff like T shirts, caps, porcelain stuff (cups, etc). I bought a pen with the Museum engraving and a camera belt. Here are some pictures, enjoy.

Photo Submission Haunted Mansion - Nikon D850, ISO 64, Tripod, 1/5th, f8.0, Nikkor 24-70/f2.8 at 70mm

An October appropriate submission.

And no, it's not truly a haunted mansion. It was Bennett School for Girls. A college.

Abandoned for many years, it became decrepit through neglect. Sadly, the building was torn down. The building's formal name was Halcyon Hall.

Yes, it truly looked like this near the end. There was very little editing on my part. Conversion to B&W, Contrast/Brightness and sharpening.

Addendum, added 13hrs after initial post

While responding to a couple of posts, I came across a blog and a video that might be of interest to anyone making it far enough to read this description.

Deep-ish dive into how Halcyon Hall reached this state https://bigoldhouses.blogspot.com/2011/06/halcyon-hall-collapsing.html?hl=en-US&m=1#:~:text=Anonymous

What should I buy? 50 1.4G vs 58 1.4G

Pretty considerable price difference. I know the 58 is heralded for its character. Did anyone go back and forth between these two?

Taken with my D750 and Nikkor AF-S 50mm f1.8. I was just on my way to dinner with friends after taking photos in the park. I had my D750 on me and I was so glad I did the colors were amazing. I don't use my 50mm much but I was sure glad to have have an F1.8 lens on me for the low light.

Gear question How noticeable is VR on the AF-S 24-120 F4?

Just received a used AF-S 24-120 F4 from a private seller that's supposed to be in full working order. On my 70-300 the VR is clearly noticeable. Upon half press of the shutter you can hear the VR motor hum and the viewfinder kinda starts to float a bit, dampening vibrations. On the 24-120 there's nothing. No sound, nothing to notice in the viewfinder. Clearly inoperable, no?

What should I buy? Looking for one more travel lens to round out a china trip end of year.

Currently running a 24-120 f4 on my Z6iii but just looking for one more lens to round it out. Will be shooting some street/landscape and night photography mainly.

Currently thinking about:
50mm 1.8s
35mm 1.8s
But open to wider lenses.

Cheers!

Mirrorless Nikon Z7ii refurbished

Hi folks,

I own a D810 and D7200 and I enjoy using them. I don’t have many lenses on FF, just a 50mm 1.8 g and a 16-35mm f/4. I am mainly shooting landscapes. Since I got the D810 I have enjoyed its amazing dynamic range with ISO base 64 and the sensor.

Since I don’t have a lot of FF glass I was thinking the future. Mirrorless is definitely the future and I thought to get one mirrorless camera and start investing in Z glass rather than investing in F. But I am not sure and I am very much critical of or sceptical on mirrorless. I like the OVF and I like the feel of the DSLR. I also like the battery life and the ergonomics of D810/850.

Z8/Z9 are totally out of my budget. I like to have more than 25mp as I am used now to that and I would like a good dynamic range. I don’t mind too much about the best AF and I ding shoot video. So given all these the Z7ii seems like a good fit. I saw Nikon has a refurbished version. I am in the UK, its £1700 with 24-70 f/4 kit lens.

What do you think? Is it worth in your opinion or Z7ii is now too old?
