I want to play goremongers (casual only) but I’m not sure if many people would find kitbashed orks acceptable to run as goremongers. Anything I can do to make them more acceptable?

Strategy Field Notes: Hernkyn Yaegirs – A team I really want to love, but something's missing

Full Field Notes article here: https://czechbrit.substack.com/p/field-notes-hernkyn-yaegirs?r=5ghlwn

I've finally finished another Field Notes article, this time looking at the Hernkyn Yaegirs!

I'm a huge Votann fan and really like the idea behind these short kings. I've played them quite a bit, even took them to a tournament, and I keep coming back to them whenever a new balance dataslate comes out.

But while I think they have some genuinely excellent tools, there's still something missing.

A few things I've found particularly interesting:

  • Ironbraek and his minefields are fantastic. Not necessarily because of the damage, but because of how much you can mess with your opponent's decisions. Combine those with a universal mine and barricades and you can get pretty creative.
  • The pre-game movement is brilliant. Being able to position your entire team so aggressively before TP1 opens up a lot of possibilities, especially when ladders, hatchways and pre-TP2 shooting Points come into play.
  • Resourceful makes them really flexible. Having three 3 APL operatives in a 10-dwarf team is nothing to sneeze at (yeah Sneezy!), especially when you can double activate with Bonds That Bind.
  • But the shooting... With BS4+ as standard, limited re-rolls and not much Piercing, you're sometimes relying on the ancestors themselves to guide those dice. Against Elites in particular, it can be pretty painful.

I've put together a more detailed article covering their operatives, equipment, ploys, some tactical maps showing how I use their abilities, and what I'd actually like to see changed in a future balance update.

I'd be interested to hear from other Yaegir players or those who met them on the battlefield. Am I being too harsh on them? Have you found a way to make them perform consistently, especially against Elites? And if you don't play them, what's putting you off?

Question New to Killteam - any advice?

( image above does not belong to me. )

Hi!

Been tiptoe-ing around the wargaming side of the hobby and finally decided to try KillTeam.

I want to pick up Inquisitoral Agents, since from what I've gathered there's not really a beginner team and these guys itch the Inq28 spot.

Do you guys have advice about the game itself?

I've seen a video from GW about it, but still want to be sure.

Thank you lots!

Hobby How obvious are these murderwing proxies

I just finished my kitbash for my murderwing kill team. These are the 8 operatives minus the chaos lord im gonna get shrike for that. Can you tell which operatives these are? Here are the answers in order: hunt master, warp talon, sky sear with melta, depredator, raptor, champion, shrieker, curse claw. I know some of the silhouettes are off, mainly the curse claw, but I really didn’t know how to best represent the mutated wings on a loyalist raptors chapter model.

Misc Token Cases

Hello!

I'm in the middle of an organizational crunch right now and wanted to 3D print up a bunch of token storage for each of the teams I own (about 3/4 of them). There used to be a ton on various STL and 3D printing sites where they would be unique the team but I'm even struggling to find generic ones.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for sites to find them, especially ones where I can support a designer with a couple good purchases?

I now use my wrecka krew GW box for all of my emotional postcards etc IRL.

Ork leave feelings compartmentalized. No need to tink of broken heart when in battle.

Also... battle report:

Tested both team but only played against the wreckas.

Mandrakes are fun, even to lose with.

Big lesson:

Pick a good tac op lol. Something with positioning.

The antennas are not included in the new killzone box, so I had to buy some Station Forge objective markers miniatures because I couldn't find any seller for the antennas. But they were printed in 32mm bases, thankfully I have 32mm to 40mm base extenders so no problem there.

Let me know how I did painting these! Boss Sinkrot is a small nemesis operative for this Kommando kill team. They are so fun to play but I'm not very good at the game. My record with these boyz are 5 wins, 9 losses and one draw.

AoD and Plague Marines are via the starter the other are a mix of new and 3d printed i liked the look of. Outside of buying data cards, if i dont want to 3d print stuff online, anything I'm missing?

Feel like more terrain is a must at some point but wanna make sure i got the main bases covered. Thank you!!

I wanted hivemind but couldn't find one for less then 300 online and no one remotely local had them. I called 8 places for fuck me I guess.

Question How do i start painting and what do i need?

Hi, i want to start on the hobby and i'm interested in buying and playing the Wolf Scout. I'm learning the rules and playing with friends but i'm interested in how to paint the minis. I know for sure that i want to paint my wolf scout as desert themed with a very orange/yellow color palette, but i dont know what tools are the basic ones and i've never painted minis before. Has anyone any recomendation on that? maybe a few tips? Thanks a lot!
